Yet again, not for any respectable reason

Chapter 2: Retrieval Mission

Chapter Text

Hime supressed a groan when she saw who awoke her. "This is the second time you've awoken me. I assume require my abilities this time?"

The scientist shot her a glance. Yes, she insulted him to his face, get over it. "I was scoping out a planet to settle on, when an alien accosted me. I lost a valuable resource in the process. Retrieve it."

Hime didn't bother to exit her pod, just quickly examining the planet with the Sumika's optics. No sign of civilization, nor did she spot any particularly large animals. "Why should I? Are you unable to retrieve it yourself?"

The scientist glared at Hime, before pulling a young blonde girl - around 13 years at most - into her view. "If you don't get it, I'll kill this girl here."

Hime huffed, before releasing herself from her pod. "Then I suppose I must check the landing site." And once again, she was off.

HIme had trouble finding anything but small animals, the largest ones the size of her leg. They could be described as loosely insectoid, though some were starting to approximate forms seen in Earth tetrapods. There were trees, with green leaves but decidedly different from those on earth, but nothing quite like grass. The atmosphere would have required only minor adjustments to survive, so she was still unsure why Shifu chose to abandon the planet.

Something flying over her pooped in her hair. This couldn't have been Shifu's only reason. Wild pigeons supposedly did this in ancient times, after all. She most definitely did not bring out her chains just to skewer the offending animal. That would be wrong of her.

After a while of scanning with her advanced senses, she found a manmade object. Namely, a cheap phone. She could gather enough information from her pod (namely the ship's entire digital network) that this phone barely cost anything.

It took another hour of searching to realize that was all she was to acquire.
