Chapter Text
Yondu and Kraglin used the car they stole from a now dead driver. Yondu knew it was a trap, but honestly? Yondu didn't care. He didn't care how much Quill yelled or cried that he was evil, or that he hated Yondu. That was his kid and ain't nobody gonna hurt him and live. "So... what's the plan?" Kraglin asked. Yondu looked at him. "Kraglin. I got somethin'. We ambush them guards, get inside and we make life hell for 'em!" Yondu said, looking back at the road speeding, too angry at the fact that the dumb kid got kidnapped, however, that was his dumb kid, and Hydra could find another dumb kid elsewhere. "We're killing everyone?" Kraglin asked for clarification. Yondu didn't look at him.
"...Only if we've got to."
Peter barely slept. Hydra had drugged him, sedated him, and now were running test on him, which wouldn't be so bad... if they weren't shocking him harmfully every time he missed a question or refused to answer it. "AHHH! STOP, THIS HURTS!" He pleaded. Quill usually never broke, yet this was becoming too agonizing even for him. The man laughed. "Then tell us... who is Yondu?"
"No way!" Quill said. He was desperate, but not that desperate. The man known only as Baron Zemo sighed as he pressed the button to shock him again, this time, resulting in his powers to surge and crash the device, causing an explosion. The power was busted, and while little to know damage happened, the machine was busted. Fascinated, Zemo and Rumlow wrote the results down. "Fascinating. You, Peter Quill, despite your unwillingness to cooperate, are truly a remarkable specimen. Half-human, half celestial. A cosmic being that has existed since the beginning of time. With your help and contribution, we could do wonderful things. You will be a wonderful resource to our cause." Rumlow noted before glancing up at the terrified boy, and chuckled. "Do not worry," Rumlow says mockingly, grinning in an unsettling manner. "You nor Yondu will be harmed. We know he will come for you, and when he does..."
"Now, now, Rumlow." Zemo said, cutting him off. "Don't spoil the surprise just yet... I wanna see their genuine reactions when it happens, and I want nothing to be spoiled." Zemo said. Rumlow looked at him, smirking sadistically. He looked back at Quill. "Well, you'll know it'll be wonderful. Until then, it's a big surprise." He smiled as he looked up as the guards came in, "Guards, sedate him and take him to the holding cell. Be gentle. We do not want him harmed." Rumlow ordered, and the guards did just that.
Peter missed Yondu. If he hadn't yelled at him and stormed off, maybe he wouldn't be here.

"He is impressive." Rumlow looked at the charts and test recordings. "A fine specimen. You made the right call, Baron." He said, sipping on his wine. Zemo chuckled. "Thank you, Rumlow. You know, Mr. Quill may be unruly, yet he can be reasoned with. The boy just need some... heavy persuasion." Zemo said, before getting up and bringing out his communication device. "Besides, Yondu, if he truly is a responsible captain, he wouldn't leave someone this valuable behind."
"Heh." Rumlow chuckled. Brock got up and walked over to Zemo. "Once Yondu is in the base, we could lure him into a cell, lock him in, and make him watch as we use the boy to advance our goal." Rumlow said, causing Zemo to frown. "Or... hear me out. Or... we could let Yondu grab Quill beforehand, and then after, we shock him and taking him to the lab."
"No." Zemo looked at Rumlow, raising an eyebrow but hearing out his disagreement. "I found a file on him, and it made me realize how crafty, how clever he actually is. Labs are for rats, and Yondu isn't a rodent. Far from it." Rumlow replied.
The sound of thuds could be heard as a whistle followed. One soldier went to check it out, only to get ambushed.
Kraglin had already shut the security systems down.
Kraglin used the code and the card before the lift slowly descended. Yondu was hellbent on getting the kid back, and he was ready to follow that unspoken rule that ravagers, followed if they had to. The unspoken ravager rule in question? 'If you fuck with one of the ravagers, no mercy is shown if the ravager's captain chooses revenge.'
"Don't you worry none, boy. This will all be over soon." Yondu whispered quietly.
Once inside, Yondu put on his mask and pulled out the EMP device he brought with him. "Captain. I'll cover you. Go get Quill." Kraglin said, ready to distract the guards. Yondu chuckled, and decided to warn him, just in case. "You sure? Terrans with guns are deadly." He asked. Kraglin scoffed, but took his captain's warning into consideration.
"Yeah, but so are my guns." He said before running off.

Quill was being tortured, this time by waterboarding. "It is a shame." A guard said, taunting him. "Yondu isn't here to see how desperate you are, or how pathetic you look." The water was so cold, it made Peter feel ill. "I told you ice water was a good idea. He's less fussy." Another chimed in.
The first guard chuckled, more amused at the fact that a kid was not fully human. She had dreamed of interrogating someone but in an intense sort of way, and waterboarding came calling to her as a child. The third guard holding Quill, dunking him in after a few minutes of coming back up, coughing up water. "Я понимаю, почему босс хочет, чтобы он был рядом." The third guard said. The fourth was looking at their phone before receiving a notification. Once they read it, they got up and walked over to the others.
"Guys. There's an intruder in the building. We need to leave." A fourth guard replied, causing the others to groan. "Мы как раз подходили к самой интересной части!" The third said, pulling the boy out and throwing Quill onto the floor. Quill was thrown quite harshly causing him to get dizzy. The young star-lord took a moment to cough out more water before getting grabbed by the solider. He fought back, and the hydra guard was about to press the button for his shock collar to electrocute him, when the first guard stopped him. "Dude!"
"He wasn't cooperating." The third complained. The first groaned in annoyance, looking at her fellow coworker. "Our orders were clear. Сломай его. Живой. If we shock him, we kill him. Water is a great conductor for electricity so if you press that button, he will die. Hydra needs him alive." The first looked at him. "We need to transfer him over to one of our other bases." She said. The third grabbed Peter harshly, forcing him up, bruising his arm in the process. Quill didn't know how much more he could take. He hadn't been feeling good since the second test this morning; the medicine he was forced to take made him ill, and it didn't help that the waterboarding began soon after.
He felt so cold.
They opened the door to the hall to see corpses everywhere. One corpse was fried near the electric cables, another had a hole in his throat and was coughing up blood, one had been shot in the heart, and was bleeding all over the floor. The four guards froze, before all four decided to go forward. They proceeded down the hall of corpses, and as more corpses with holes in their bodies, some that fell from being pushed against the wall, and corpses with blood spilling everywhere came piling up, the more those four realized something or someone was taking out the guards one by one.
"We need to get him to his cell. Brock Rumlow and Baron Zemo need to be notified at once!" The third said, before dragging Quill through the room who didn't even react anymore. He couldn't, he had little to no energy. The drug made him sick. He barely reacted to the bodies, let alone the bloodshed. The medicine suppressed his powers and emotions and it hurt. Quill could barely stand anymore, so when they tried to make him walk up the stairs, he collapsed. They tried to pick him up and he started violently shaking. "SHIT! There's something wrong." One shouted, giving Peter a stim-pack to keep him going. This, however, made things worse.
"Ain't this unfortunate?" A voice said. They turned to see a man who was humanoid but not human. He had blue skin, a grey mask and had no weapons except a single arrow and a red metal piece on his head, the man that Quill had told Hydra about after hours of refusing to tell them. They quickly realized this wasn't just anyone, no, they realized he was the person Hydra was trying to lure out.
This was Yondu...
"I was gonna be nice and all, but, then I see you dim-witted scrawny bastards harmin', mishandlin' the kid, so seein' y'all bein' ugly...? I decide it ain't worth it," he pauses. "sparing y'all."
"What are you gonna do?! Kill us?" The third asked, aiming his weapon at the ravager as he taunted Yondu. The captain chuckled. "First, I'm gonna take away those damn weapons, render them useless. Then, I'mma teach ya some sense, and hopefully get them lights back on up in 'em brains you lot have. And then, I'm gonna kill you sons of bitches."
Yondu opened his coat, lowering his mask and whistled. His red Yaka Arrow Controller started glowing causing the arrow fired at their hands, making them to drop their guns, before he pressed a button on the EMP Device, which rendered the guns useless. He then whistled, causing the arrow to fly back into his hand. Yondu calmly walked up to the first guard closet to him, stabbing him in the stomach with the arrow. Yondu whistled once more, and the arrow went through the guard. Yondu then kicked him against the window, causing it to shatter as the third soldier fell to his death. "Stop!" One of the other guards yelled, backing up, aiming her hidden gun at Quill. "Остановись, или я буду стрелять!" The message, even if Yondu couldn't understand what she said, was clear.
Desist or she kills Peter.
He looked at her and started laughing, causing her to get confused, lowering the gun just a bit. In response, Yondu whistled before his arrow went flying into her throat, causing her to drop her gun, instantly hitting the ground. Yondu then took the time to beat the shit out of the other two.
He ended up breaking a jaw and dislocating a shoulder blade for the second guard. As for the fourth guy, Yondu shattered the guard's knees, causing the soldier screamed in pain. Yondu then forced him to stand, before smashing the fourth guard's head into a wall a few times, using the arrow to finish them both off. One of them was now just unrecognizable. He put the arrow back inside his coat, grabbing Quill.
Once Yondu felt how cold Quill was, he knew something was off. Terrans, aren't supposed to be this cold in body temperature, for if they got too cold in body temperature, they die. "The fuck did they do to ya, boy? Terrans ain't supposed to be this damn cold." He said before pulling his mask up, carrying him up the stairs and out of the side hallways.

Yondu, after what felt like forever, met up with Kraglin, who was carrying the stuff Quill had in his bag along with the stuff Hydra confiscated, some stolen. "Kraglin! We got an issue. Sumthing ain't right with the boy." Kraglin picked him up and could tell as well that something was off. Quill shook, tired and shivering. "K-Kraglin?" Quill said, although it was barely heard. Kraglin noticed his hair was still wet, making him realize why he was so cold. It was possible Quill had been waterboarded. "Quill, stay with us okay? We're getting you out!" They ran, eager to leave.
Yondu felt something else was off. No guards? Free passage? No traps? This, could be a ravager's dream or their worst nightmare. Ravager's like when it went easy, but not too easy. Throw in at least a threat, something that could pass as a decent challenge. Just as they were getting closer and closer to the lift, more soldiers showed up and surrounded them. The sound of slow applause heard from above them. "So.. you're the infamous Yondu Udonta. My name is Baron Zemo." He said applauding, as he looked at Yondu with an interest that reeked of malicious intent. "Your reputation precedes you."
"Quill told ya, I presume." Yondu spoke, knowing well, they had been waiting for him. "Yes, he did," pausing as he took a sip of his drink to continue, "Admittedly, he refused. It took some persuading and some... tactics of ours to get him to tell us about you." Kraglin became tense. He had a few ideas on what tactics were used on Quill. "Well, I assume boy also informed ya I'd make your life hell."
"Oh, he made that very clear." The man next to him said. Yondu didn't need to guess who he was. "Brock Rumlow? Got some damn nerve." Yondu said. Kraglin looked at him. "This is our kid. You can fuck off," Kraglin shouted, before a few soldiers laughed, causing Zemo to clear his throat. This silenced the soldiers. Yondu put a hand on his shoulder, not wanting to get them killed. "Now, Kraglin, calm your jets." Yondu said, turning to Rumlow. "What ya want with the boy? Because, he ain't doing too hot."
"Apologizes. We told all our staff to be gentle with Mr. Quill. I suspect some of them fed up with the uncooperative behavior, and got carried away with the waterboarding tests." Zemo replied, confirming Kraglin and Yondu's suspicions "Now, Mr. Yondu, I want to know, are ravagers reasonable?" Yondu chuckled at Zemo's words. "Depends, if it's good business, or if it's something that a ravager finds reasonable." Rumlow laughed at the ravager's venom, only for his grin to fade, his soldiers now aiming their guns. "Mr. Udonta, Hydra has plans for the boy. He is a half-celestial. We took him to better understand him. However, we knew eventually you'd come looking. So... what's about to happen will determine life or death. You and your friend can try to escape and we will open fire, killing you both, or you two can drop your weapons and we will take the three of you back to base. Your friend will not make it, but You? You and Peter Quill will. As long the young boy behaves, you two will be unharmed." He said, pausing before correcting himself. "Mostly." He smirked as if he had the two beat.
"So what's it gonna be?"
Kraglin stopped them. "Wait wait wait wait wait. You... you think we came alone?" Kraglin asked. When the look of confusion formed on their faces, both of the ravagers laughed. "Sorry, it's just... ravagers, we have an unspoken rule. Everyone knows it, no one says it." Kraglin said, turning to Yondu who smiled, opening his coat. "Ya fuck with one of the ravagers, there's little mercy if the crew decides to head after you, but if the captain comes after you?" He laughed and then looked up. "Ain't no one gonna live, fucker."
"You thought we came alone, unprepared, but ravagers? We full of surprises." Yondu said. He pulled his mask off as he whistled, shooting the locks off the doors behind the groups of Hydra soldiers. "And we love makin' it everyone's damn problem!"
Suddenly, a group of ravagers started firing. Yondu whistled, killing several soldiers, just to make it easier for the group. Several dozen Hydra guards had their heads blown apart like balloons popping, bloody spiling out like candy. "Kraglin, round up the crew. Get Quill back to the ship now." Yondu ordered back to his ship. "What about you?" Kraglin said. Yondu looked at Rumlow and Zemo. "I got sum' unfinished business to attend to." Kraglin shook his head yet, Yondu chose to ignore the warning.
Kraglin rounded up the men, running to ship and praying to whatever cosmic force that favored ravagers that Quill would survive.
Peter groaned as he slowly woke up in the infirmary, noticing a few of the ravagers, including Kraglin waiting by the bedside, and he noticed how worried they look. Quill reached over to grab Kraglin, causing the man to jump. He looked over and smiled. "Quill! He's awake." He said. The other three looked at him, all of them rushing over.
"Hey, give him some room." Kraglin said to his men sternly, before turning to Quill. "You feeling okay?" He asked, putting a hand on Quill's head. "I'm fine." Quill said, his voice hoarse from all the screaming and crying he did. "You're running a nasty fever. We got you to Knowhere, brought you to a doctor. The doctor treated you, said you'd be sick for a few days, week or two at most, but, he said you'll live. You've been out for a few days." Kraglin said. One of the ravagers looked at him, "It was scary. You were shaking violently and coughing up water and blood."
That startled Quill a bit, He then thought about Yondu, and looked down. "Yondu... is he mad?"
"Nope." Kraglin said, lifting Quill's head, ruffling his hair. "He's forgotten why he was even angry in the first place." Kraglin proclaimed, causing Quill to smile a bit before he began violently coughing. "He awake?" Yondu asked, standing in the doorway. Kraglin nodded. "Alrighty. All of you, out. I need to have a talk with Quill. Now." Yondu ordered, causing everyone to leave. Kraglin followed, but turned around to face Yondu. "Don't lose your temper." Yondu smiled, before turning to Quill. Once everyone was out of sight, Yondu walked over and sat down next to him on the bed. "I'm sorry."
"Why you apologizing? You ain't done nothing wrong." Yondu said calmly. He was mad, but was once Hydra captured him. After what he did to the soldiers once he got wind of a portion of what they did to Quill, Yondu slaughtered half the facility. Zemo barely got him and a wounded Rumlow out. He made sure no one remembered shit. "I yelled though... said I hate you."
Yondu chuckled. "I said that too when I was a youngin, so believe me when I say, ya didn't mean none of it." He pulled out a bag of food and gave it to Quill. It was greasy. "Your mama would be rollin' in her grave, coming back from the dead just to haunt me if she knew I was giving ya food you ain't supposed to eat when sick. But, I think she'd understand." He paused before looking at Quill. "Turns out, some of the stuff you stole, sold well on Terra. Most of the other stuff sold real well on Knowhere. It's safe for you to eat, mostly."
"Hmm? But what about..."
"They ain't gonna find us. Oh, while you were sleepin' like the dead, Kraglin and I established a new rule." Yondu looked Quill in the eyes, before frowning, his tone now shifted into a more serious manner. "I don't give a shit how tempting it comes across, don't care what opportunity says while knocking at the door, I don't care if the place has somethin' you may want. If a place is swarming with guards, do not even think about going in by yourself without backup. You leave, and return with backup or leave and do sumthin' else. Am I understood?"
"Yes sir."
"Good. Now... believe you deserve some alone time with... this." Yondu pulled out Quill's walkman, to which Quill happily took. "Hey Yondu... can I tell you something?
"Hmm?" Yondu looked at him. Quill looked around, pausing to cough violently into his elbow, then looking back. "Don't get mad. I... I killed two guards when they insulted you, saying you weren't a good captain." Yondu looked surprised. "They were making fun of you, calling you a freak, a monster, one even called you... Yawn-due." Yondu rolled his eyes when he heard that. "It's only when they said you weren't a good captain," Quill said, coughing. "that I lost it, and started attacking him. By the time more guards got me off him, the guy who was trying to get me off was dead next to the guy who said you weren't a good dad. He was dead too."
Yondu took a moment to process, then proceeded to laugh, both amused and amazed. "Well, they learned." He said, ruffling Peter's hair. "Try to rest easy. Doctor's orders and all."
X
Yondu was flying the ship when he recieved an incoming transmission.
The Nova Corps.
He snickered before answering the call. "Council!" Yondu greeted, contrite and disingenuously as if he were trying to avoid trouble. Irani Rael spoke first, irritation in her voice. "Yondu Udonta, you have stolen some medical testing device." She said. Yondu rolled his eyes and chuckled, as if he were as innocent as a lamb. "I did?"
"Do not play the fool. There were three amnesia bomb prototype that we use to aid those with severe trauma that suddenly were gone, and when we finally located them, they were on Terra. Yondu, what happened? Why steal our devices?" She shouted, demanding to know more. "Steal? I didn't steal. If anythin', I borrowed 'em. Went and tested it for ya Nova Corps. Gotta say, It works like a damn charm! Certified guaranteed!" He said.
"Two were broken, one was dented." Another Nova Corp by the name of Garthan Saal yelled. Garthan was the boss. "Proof they work even if you break 'em, Council." Yondu said, and then Rhomann Dey finally spoke. "Why did you take them to Terra?! What did you do?"
Yondu went silent, his smile fading. He sat there, sitting in his chair in thought. He knew if he explained even a moment of what happened... no. He cleared his throat, looking Garthan and the rest of the council in the eye. "What did I do?" He repeated. Yondu, had slaughtered soldiers, damaged property, assaulted a man, and bombed several ships and buildings. Why? The bastards hurt his kid, tortured him, and made his life a living nightmare all to try and capture Yondu. So they could use him. Hydra wanted to use him and Quill for their own personal gain.
Fuck that.
"Did what I had to." He then hung up.
Yondu sighed before he began to smile. Was there any doubt Quill's momma wouldn't have done the same? No. She'd understand if no one else did.
"Yondu. What did you do?" Kraglin asked. Yondu sighed, his smile once again leaving his face. "Boy, I'll say only this..." he said not batting an eye or turning around. If Kraglin had seen how they handled Quill in that Waterboarding room, he would understand why Yondu did what he did.
"If ya had seen a portion of what they did... you would've done the same, I betcha you would've done the same damn thing." Yondu got up and walked past Kraglin, heading to bed. He walked past Quill's room, only to walk back, to see him fast asleep. He grinned, grateful his kid was alive.
Not that he'd ever admit it.
