Chapter Text

Wednesday, watching the clock closely as the time grew closer to the harvest festival. She felt an unfamiliar feeling stirring in her stomach.

She couldn't put her finger on it, but she knew that this was the same feeling she had that night when her and Enid were being chased by the Hyde.

“Whoa, okay I'm positive you aren't my Wednesday now” Enid's voice suddenly snapped the raven from her thoughts, she looked over to the wolf taking in how breathtaking she looked.

The pastel wolf was wearing a shirt similar to her rainbow sweater she wore on the seers first night at Nevermore, with a black jacket with pink lines on the shoulders and ripped dark navy blue jeans.

“Changing it up I see?” Wednesday continued to stare without even noticing.

“Oh! Yeah, I didn't wanna wear a skirt today and I thought I'd try wearing black for once.” Enid smiled kindly before her eyes sparkled with excitement. “I see you're wearing the snood I got you.”

The raven paused for a moment before grabbing at the snood around her neck, having completely forgotten she put it on.

Wednesday was wearing the normal black attire she always wore, her black and white striped sweater and long black jeans with her combat boots she got from Enid, along with a black jean vest as well as the snood the wolf made her.

“It's cold out…” The gothic brunette scoffed softly which made the blonde wolf laugh.

“Whatever you say~ I'm gonna go grab mine and then we'll head out okay?” Out of nowhere as Enid spoke she placed a kiss on Wednesday's cheek making her freeze slightly.

The raven's eyes drifted over to Thing, who was just as shocked as she was. She shook off the shock from the sudden kiss walking over to the severed hand. “Thing, you are going to stay here. Normally I'd make you come with me but there's a chance that this could be a trap.” As the goth explained, Thing started frantically signing.

“I'll be fine, this is why I asked Addison to help.” Wednesday grabbed Thing to make him quit failing. “Addison is a werewolf, yes she is a runt but she is still stronger than a normal human-”

“Wednesday?” Enid's voice made The seer nearly throw Thing out a window, but she managed to stop herself by dropping him instead. “Everything okay? I heard you talking about Addison.” The blonde went to touch the goth but she immediately pulled away.

“I'm fine, you are wasting your concern on me.” Wednesday glared slightly, making the wolf shrink a bit in on herself.

“But you would tell me if something was wrong right?” She asked timidly, smiling sweetly at the goth making her hesitate before saying. “Of course I would…”

“Okay.” The blonde smiled brightly before grabbing the brunette by the wrist. “Come on! I don't wanna be late to the harvest festival!” Enid dragged the raven out of the dorm room rather quickly, leaving behind Thing who just did his equivalent of a facepalm.

It only took a few minutes to arrive at the Harvest Festival, granted considering how Enid had a driver's license it was less than that. It was the same amount of repulsion as the last time Wednesday. There were too many colors and bright lights.

“This time you aren't using this as a cover up to run away.” The blonde smiled, gently nudging the brunette.

“On the contrary, I plan to find a hiding place, away from all the noise and the annoyance of social activities.” Wednesday stated, as she saw someone throwing up into a trashcan after getting off the spinning tea cups.

“Oh come on! We can at least hang out a little bit right?” Enid pouts, gently but firmly holding the raven's hand. Out of the corner of the goth's eye she saw Addison coming towards them.

“One moment I need to have a word with Addison.” The raven slipped her hand away from the wolf's before walking over to the small runt.

“Have you managed to get an eye on Gulpin yet?” she asked, glaring around the festival. Fortunately for the raven the brunette wolf nodded brightly.

“Yeah! And I got his scent so I'll keep an eye on him.” Addison started sniffing around the air. “He reeks of axe body spray… and monster.” her nose scrunches up slightly like a puppy about to sneeze.

“Good, follow him and if he disappears you come find me.” Wednesday ordered the smaller wolf which made her happily nod before running off.

“I'm glad you and Addison are getting along.” Enid's voice nearly gave the brunette a heart attack quickly wiping around to face her.

“How much did you hear?” The raven asked hurriedly which made the wolf jump.

“Nothing, why? Were you two talking about me?” Enid asked with a playful smile.

“Of course not, even if we were, I'd be telling her how…” Wednesday paused, knowing she couldn't bring herself to confess her thoughts about the wolf.

“It's okay Weds I know you wouldn't say anything mean about me.” The blonde giggled softly. “Now come on, I wanna see your skills on these festival games.” She took the raven's hand and began dragging her off towards the games.

“I accept your challenge Sinclair.” Wednesday smirked.

After hours of playing the games and getting banned from every single one of them, (because of Wednesday's capabilities.) Enid carries a plastic bag of smaller plushed animals as well as a huge dragon similar to the one she has at the dorm. “You really didn't have to win all of these for me…” the wolf chuckled, pretending to struggle to carry all the ravens' winnings.

“Nonsense, you wanted those and I just so happen to lack the ability to fall for their half minded ways of scamming children out of a dollar or two.” Wednesday began her long winded explanation, setting up a place for her to sit on the bench. “Plus you deserve them considering you've given me a gift more than once.”

“Aw… I appreciate it but don't you think you may have overkilled it a bit.” The blonde rubbed the back of her neck anxiously, seeing all the children stare at all the plushies she has in awe.

“Overkilling is what my uncle taught me best.” The seer stated, a phantom of a smirk teasing at her face, till suddenly she was pulled from where she was sitting by a frantically worried puppy.

“Weds! Weds! I need your help now!” Addison spoke rushed and panicked, dragging Wednesday away from Enid.

“Addie?” Enid got up from where she was sitting till Wednesday turned back to her quickly.

“Don't worry Enid I'll take care of her, you relax and if I need you, you'll know okay?” The raven tried to reassure the worried wolf, but her skeptical look made the goth pull out a whistle of some kind which made that look go away quickly.

The whining of the pup grew as she continued pulling Wednesday away from where Enid was. “Slow down, at this rate you are going to dislocate my shoulder.” She growled, jerking her arm away from the young wolf.

“It's Tyler!- I saw him going into the forest!!” Addison, not listening to the raven's warning, grabbed her arm and continued to drag her again.

Wednesday's eyes narrowed, part of her knew he had some part in all of this. Without saying anything to Addison, she took her arm back rushing into the forest ahead of the runt.

––––––––––––––––––––––––––

With a rather quick pace, the raven searched the forest. Looking for anything or anyone that seemed out of place, like a huge hulking monster; but when she didn't see any of the sorts Wednesday thought Addison was just over reacting, and speaking of the runt she saw her standing over something. The seer rushed over to see what she had found.

It was the corpse of one of the howling fangs members, his body was torn to shreds chunks of his flesh missing as well, his eyes being ripped from his skull along with his jaw his face having been smashed in with his brain oozing out like a paste coming from his ears; his chest being torn open with all his vital organs exposed for God to see. But unfortunately he wasn't the one seeing them, with his heart being ripped from his chest nowhere to be seen.

Wednesday, not being afraid of a corpse, leans down further to inspect it and upon closer inspection she notices a bit of fur not belonging to him, but when she tried to inspect it closer her thoughts were cut off by Addison. “WEDNESDAY!”

When the raven looked up she saw none other than the hyde himself approaching them rather quickly, Wednesday thinking fast jumped to her feet and grabbing Addison by the arm and running as fast as she could with her slowly dragging behind her.

But when the runt tripped over her own feet, the raven had no choice but to pull out the whistle from earlier. “Cover your ears, tightly.” Wednesday ordered the young wolf, and once she did. She blew it as loud as she could, stunning the monster for a brief moment.

“What was that?!” Addison asked, getting back up to her feet. As the Hyde continued running at them.

“She should've heard it…” the raven muttered before running back towards the festival grounds again with the runt following after her.

As they ran Addison heard someone or something coming towards them. “Get down!” The young wolf tackled Wednesday to the ground and jumping right over them the goth stared in awe as she saw the giant wolf that was Enid Sinclair jumping right over them tackling the monster to the ground for round two.

As the two began to struggle in another fierce battle, the raven watched anxiously as the two clawed and bite at one another till she saw the blonde wolf grabbed Tyler by one of his legs, slamming him into a tree like he did to her years ago causing him to retreat which made Enid howl in triumph over the monster.

The blonde quickly turned to where Wednesday was hurriedly checking on her, sniffing her over checking for any opened wounds; the raven scoffed before finally speaking. “I'm fine, that could've ended horribly for the both of us if you hadn't come.” When she said this, the blonde wolf yelped before loving all over the raven.

“Cease this at once!” the brunette growled, the darkness of the night hiding her blush as she shoved the wolf's head away from her.

————————————————————

After a minute Enid had shifted back to her human form, taking Addison's huge long jacket she was wearing so she wasn't in the nude when they went back to the festival.

“What the fuck Wednesday! Why didn't you tell me you were coming out here and not to mention the fact Tyler was trying to kill you!” The blonde began to ask questions faster than anyone could answer and when the dark haired wolf went to speak the goth stopped her by stomping on her foot.

“look- I promise to explain later, but right now I wish to get back to the festival so I can inform Principal Weems to Galpin's murderous intentions.” the raven grinned, she had the upper hand on him now.

But when they got back to the festival, they saw Tyler and Xavier walking together before they saw the three and stopped. “What happened to you three?” The suspect smiled mockingly, seeing the look of shock in Enid's and Addison's eyes.

“We were just attacked out in the forest! You attacked us!?” The young wolf snarled with Enid holding her back.

“I don't know what are you going on about Tyler's been with me this whole time.” Xavier, to everyone's shock, defended the monster in sheep's clothes.

“I refuse to believe that's true…” Wednesday growled before walking up to Tyler, only for the tortured artist to stand in her way.

“Just chill okay? We don't wanna get Weems involved do we?” He asked slowly, with a small smile on his face. “Besides, I've been with him the whole time. And how could he attack you anyway with the ankle monitor?”.

The seer's eyes widened at the mention of the device, and when she looked down there was in fact an ankle monitor around Tyler's leg.

“Yeah my dad put it on me, to keep me from shifting and in case I go …. Missing.” He said with a twisted grin, but Wednesday knew every word out of his mouth was a lie.

But the raven knew confrontation would be bad for her, so instead she walked away with Addison and Enid following after her. “Wait… so if it wasn't Tyler then does that mean there's another Hyde?” The black haired wolf asked.

“And if it isn't another Hyde then what if he's lyin-” “we need to investigate further before trying to come up with a solution.” the raven snapped out of frustration, making the small wolf yelp at the sudden outburst. But before the conversation continued the blonde wolf caught up to the two.

“Dude you said you wouldn't lie to me! Tell me what's going on?!” She snarled, making Addison shrink in on herself knowing what would happen if she tried to tell her. Wednesday sighed softly before speaking.

“Enid, me and Addison went out into a forest and found a dead body… belonging to a student at Nevermore Academy, that's when we were chased by a Hyde.. and I do not plan to do any sort of investigation into what that was or who; and I plan to let the proper authorities take care of whatever is going on.” As the raven carefully thought her words out, it burned her inside to know that she was basically lying to the person she cared about again.

But it was for her own good.

Wednesday didn't want to lose her again, so lying to protect her is better than lying to bait her into helping with the investigation.

“Okay… but I swear to god Wednesday if you're lying to me-” “I'm not, I swear on my own grave that I'd never lie to you.” As the raven said this, she gently caressed the blonde's face; having subconsciously reached up to touch her face.

She's slowly becoming her father, which made her want to throw up.

“Okay alright … but please never scare me like that again!” Enid nearly sobbed before hugging Wednesday tightly.

Addison smiled at the scene taking place before her, as heart touching as it was; it didn't feel right considering one of the two were lying to the other and she knew she couldn't tell her best friend and adopted sister anything which hurt her deep down.

Once they pulled away from each other Enid smiled before finally saying. “You are such a softie now Wednesday.” She giggled softly which upset the raven.

“Call me that again and I will give your wolf hide to my grandmother.” Wednesday scoffed under her breath.

And even though they had to leave early due to Enid's nudity under Addison's jacket, the two still had a great bus ride back to the academy.
