*Chief Prosecutor's Office, 9:30 AM*
"Hope did you organize the files that I gave you yesterday afternoon before I left for my meeting with Yennifer Castillo?" The voice of the Chief Prosecutor asked from the intercom that was next to the receptionist's desk, which prompted the young ghost receptionist to press the button and give her response. "Yes Miss Von Skenazy, I put them away accordingly like you asked." Hope spoke as her ghostly self floated up a bit from the chair she had been sitting on and began to sort some paperwork. "Thank you Hope." Von Skenazy replied, "In the meantime keep the files in the cabinets for now until the pending lawsuit is finished, and then they'll be moved to the basement storage area." "Yes ma'am." Hope spoke as she worked on her computer, before the ghost receptionist remembered something and pressed the button on the intercom once again, "Miss Von Skenazy?"
"Yes Hope what is it?"
"There was a message left for you on the speaker machine yesterday evening after the office shortly closed. It's from your cousin Mr. Henson, he says it's an urgent matter." Hope explained as her voice echoed softly through the intercom, which was met with a moment of silence before the Chief Prosecutor cleared her throat. "Transfer the message to my office speaker machine." "Of course Miss Von Skenazy." Hope replied as she pressed a few buttons on the speaker machine, before the message was transferred to the upstairs speaker machine.
In the upstairs area where the office of the Chief Prosecutor was, the middle aged Wendy Von Skenazy herself watched as her speaker machine lit up in receiving the message transferred from the downstairs speaker machine in the reception lobby. "This better be good Trent..." Wendy muttered quietly before her finger pressed the button to play the message aloud for her to hear. Wendy's eyebrow was raised as she heard her younger cousin's message, and by the time the message finished playing she was already intrigued. "At least this is much more interesting that having to represent a company getting sued by a number of employees, I don't even know why they decided to go to court instead of actually paying their employees properly." Wendy spoke aloud to no one in particular as she got up from her large office chair and walked over to her window, where her office overlooked a good chunk of the city above where she lived.
Not much had been happening recently in the sense of working in the law itself, which might be considered to be good for some lawyers, but for Wendy it was the exact opposite. She was bored and already tired of having to take on a lawsuit to represent the company who hired her on their behalf to enforce their power on their unruly employees, so when she heard the word "killer" Wendy had decided it was time to take on an actual case. The hearing for the lawsuit was set two months from now, so it gave time for a case of murder and corruption to be taken on.
However there was a bit of an issue that Wendy had suddenly realized. Even if she and Trent would be working together to take on this developing case, that probably wouldn't be enough to actually help convict the two suspects in custody. Well Trent was a private investigator who could have no problem in gathering physical evidence, and Wendy was feared in court as the Chief Prosecutor who took no nonsense from anyone. But there needed to be someone to actually connect with the victims and their families that were involved in this incident that Trent said the town called "Whistling Night" for some reason but Trent said he would explain everything once Wendy got to the town to meet with him. Wendy started to think as she continued to look out her window, and as she watched the people on the sidewalks going about their day that's when she got the idea of what to do next.
Mainly who to call to her office and help her as her assistant for this case that was slowly getting the attention of the state, and soon the nation would catch on. "Hope." Wendy spoke as she pressed her intercom button, "Call Natoma and tell her to come down here at once. I'm going to need her assistance with a case that's beginning to unfold." There was a moment of silence as Hope meanwhile had paused floating midair, her face having a surprised expression before she made her way back down to the ground and stepped over to the phone, picking it up before dialing a number, "Right away Miss Von Skenazy." *Chief Prosecutor's Office, 10:15 AM* The sound of an taxi pulling up outside could be heard from the receptionist area as Wendy and Hope both perked up, their attention now at the front doors. A moment later the vehicle drove off after it dropped off it's rider, before the silhouette of a young woman approached the doors. The doors then opened, revealing the 19 year old with light pink hair, with eyes bright with the same color, and wearing an outfit similar to a kimono with colors of the softest blues. "Hi Wendy! Hi Hope!" Natoma spoke as her feet quickly carried her over to the front of the reception desk, a bright smile present on her face knowing that she was here for something exciting. "Thank you for coming on such sort notice Natoma." Wendy spoke as she gazed at the young girl, "Come, we need to have a talk in my office." Natoma blinked and exchanged a confused look with Hope, the ghost receptionist also having the same expression as her best friend before Natoma followed the Chief Prosecutor upstairs to her office. Once they got there, Wendy shut the door and motioned for Natoma to take a seat, to which the girl did before Wendy took the seat next to her.
"Now the reason I called you here Natoma," Wendy began as her hand reached out to her speaker machine, "Is because my cousin down in Gallows Creek needs our help." Her finger then pressed the button, before Trent's message played aloud for the young girl to hear. Natoma listened carefully to the message up until it ended, before she turned to the older woman and asked her a question. "So you called me down here since you're in need of my abilities once again?" "Correct. The defense attorneys of the two suspects are not planning to back down anytime soon by the looks of it, which means that we're gonna need your help with getting the victims that were killed that night to testify in court against the two suspects."
Natoma nodded her head as she understood what Wendy was saying, and at that moment she made her choice.
"I'll come with you."
"Excellent." Wendy spoke as a smile formed on her face, before she got up from her chair and picked up her personal office phone as she began to dial a number, "You can go on ahead and get your stuff packed. Meet me at the outside of the office at 6 PM sharp, I'll be sure to arrange our transportation in the meantime. For now you're dismissed Natoma." "Alright, I'll see you then Wendy!" Natoma said cheerly as she waved goodbye while leaving the Chief Prosecutor's office. Wendy waved back at the young girl, watching her leave her sight as she went downstairs before Wendy heard her phone call going through.
"Jojo? Get the Chariot prepared and be ready to come to the outside of my office at 6 PM sharp. Me and Natoma are going to be heading down to the town of Gallows Creek."
