Chapter Text
Bruce Knew he had to hurry back to get the call that was coming his way. That doesn't mean he felt it okay With leaving Tim behind back at the precinct.
Once again he was incredibly grateful for his sons. Sure Bruce knows they wouldn't be happy that he hadn't told them that he had a child that might end up in his care. Still Bruce is glad they stayed he'd hate for Tim to be alone.. especially after everything.
Pulling in to the cave he quickly ripped off the batsuit, half Hazardly throwing its parts onto his Work bench as he Silently sends an apology to Alfred. Striding pass he grabs a pair of sweatpants And a simple black shirt.
Pulling on a pair of shoes as he rushes out of the cave and into the manor, his phone beings ring. Taking A deep breath He grabs it and answers. "Hello"
"Hello Bruce, I am so sorry to bother you at this hour" Gordon greeted him.
"It's quite alright commissioner" Bruce replies, wiping off his batman face paint. "What can I do for you?"
"I'm afraid that something quite unfortunate has happened tonight" Gordon Says.
'I know Jim' Bruce thinks yet staying in character he speaks "unfortunate? Jim, what do you mean?"
A huff is heard from Jim on the other side of the phone before replying ".. A young boy had lost his parents, and well they had it in place that you'd be the one to take Him in"
"I see… well I'll be right over to pick him up" Bruce replies already walking out the door And down towards one of his cars.
"Nightwing and Robin are sitting with him so don't feel as if the boy is completely alone" Gordon informs Bruce.
"I'll still be there as soon as I can be" he tells the commissioner.
"We'll see you soon Bruce" Gordon says, hanging up.
Settling down in the driver seat of his Mercedes-Benz, starting the car he begins his travel across the city back to the precinct. Luckily due to the attack the roads are pretty clear, or well as clear as they get in Gotham. It only takes him about 25ish minutes to arrive. (and he only ran 4 red lights).Taking a deep breath as he parks the car Bruce makes his way inside.
Greeting the cop working the front Desk, glances around Bruce spots both his sons seated next To Tim, who is wrapped up in a fuzzy looking blanket cradling his hands close to his chest.
Bruce knows the blanket Is from Gordon, after all he never forgot when Gordon wrapped him in one the Night he lost his parents, he did the same when dick lost his, And now he does the same with Tim.
Walking up to the trio Bruce squats down in front of Tim before Glancing back at the other two "thank you for staying with him" the Heros nod in response, standing up the heros start to walk away, but before they leave robin whispers something in Tim ear, earning A small smile.
Throwing a displeased glance at Bruce robin rums off.
Once the two heros leave Bruce moves to take a seat next to Tim, offering a small smile as he notices how red his eyes were, the tears still staining his face.
"Hello Timothy" Bruce starts "Do you know how I am?"
Refusing to look up at Bruce Tim nods "my mom told me about you mr Wayne" his voice Horse. "and please you can just call me Tim"
"Got it, and you can just call me Bruce" he says wincing at the boys voice "Would you like some water?" He asks only for Tim to turn him down.
Clearing his throat Bruce hesitantly speaks "Did the commissioner tell you about why I'm here"
"He did" Tim mumbles picking At his fingertips
"Well that's good" he nods "I'm really sorry about what has happened tonight Tim, but I will do everything I can to help you"
Bruce doubts that Tim is really processing what he or really anyone Is saying, from the adrenaline high, to the shock, to absolute exhaustion. No one can really blame him either.
Sit quietly together Bruce watches as tim fiddles with the blanket covering him, almost as if waiting to be told what he should be doing
"We can leave whenever you're ready " Bruce tells Tim, still watching as the young boy Completes what Bruce had said.
"What if I'm never ready"
"Then We can stay as long as you need too"
Bruce watches as several emotions flash across the young boy's face, clutching onto the blanket Tim finally glances up at Bruce.
"Really?" Tim asks his bloodshot blue eyes meeting Bruce's own. "Really" he Responded.
The pair sat there in silence for another 10 or so minutes only the hushed voices of the cops filling the room, Tim slowly Sinking into Bruce's side as he loses his battle with the sandman.
"I think it's time to go buddy" Bruce whispers, gently picking Tim up. Tim only mumbles As he smushes his face into Bruce's shoulder. Smiling down at the boy in his arms he begins to leave.
Walking out he stops by the commissioner office.after all he had a few papers to sign, He can't just pick up any kid and walk out.
"He's a good kid," Gordon says as he makes a copy of the paperwork for Bruce to sign.
"Yeah" gently rubbing Tim's back as he slumbers " he really is"
"Did you know about his father?" Gordon whispers, handing the forms over to him.
"Not soon enough" Bruce replies, quickly writing his signature and giving the paperwork back.
Gordon nods "I assume I'll see you later then" he says filing the paperwork away.
"You will"
"I know I will" Gordon smirks "stay safe Wayne" he calls out.
"You too Jim" Bruce says walking out of the precinct.
Gently placing the still sleeping Tim into the back seat and buckling Him up, the beings on his drive Back to the manor.
As he drives Bruce wonders if he should wake Tim Up before they get home. Maybe he should get him something to eat. If Alfred saw him he'd shake his head and make the boy something to eat. But he doubts the boy would eat, dick didn't the night Bruce had brought him home.
Speaking Of Alfred, when Bruce pulls into the Manor the butler is patiently waiting for the pair at the door.
"I have a room already prepared for the young Master" he informs Bruce as he and Tim enter the Manor.
"Thank you Alfred" Bruce whispers, trying not to wake Tim.
"Of course sir" Alfred remarks, leading the pair up stairs to the family wing.
The room Alfred had picked out was across from dicks and Jason's yet two down from Bruce's.
Gently placing Tim under the freshly cleaned blankets and tucking him into bed. Bruce pushes a Rouge Strand of hair out of the boy's face.
It was going to be a while for Tim to be alright again. He won't be the same kid anymore, he'll never be the same ever again. But that's just fine, Bruce and his family will be with him every step of the way.
Quietly closing the door behind him as he leaves. Bruce is met with the frustrated glares of both of his sons, the feeling of being lied too Radiating off of the pair.
knowing That the three of them were in for a long Talk, he ushers the other two towards a separate room.
As The trio sets foot in one of the living Rooms. dick starts "why Didn't you tell is you had a God son" his face contoured in confusion
"Please tell me you knew about Tim" Jason adds on arms crossed.
"I did know about Tim," Bruce assured Them.
Scoffing, Jason rolls his eyes " Ah well then going back to dicks Point why the Hell didn't You tell us" he growled.
"I was going to tell you I promise" Bruce Ran a hand through His hair "I didn't want to tell you without knowing the full extent Of what was going on"
"That's why you wanted me to look into his parents, isn't it?" dick says as he Flops down on one Of the neighboring couches.
"You both knew about this?!" Jason reels back as he looks between The to older men.
"I only knew his parents Were in some shady shit" dick quickly defends himself " I had know idea that he'd end up with us"
Taking a deep breath Bruce starts "look I'm sorry for not telling you about Tim"
"Oh I'm sure you are," Jason mumbles.
"But that doesn't Make it right," Bruce replies.
He should have told Them about Tim. He knows that. Bruce had planned To tell both of Them yet the more he had found on Jack dealings the more Janet had told him. the less he wanted to get either of his sons involved.
"Why you?" jason asks " why did his parents pick you"
Bruce isn't entirely sure why either. He knows that Jack had just Went with Whatever Janet had decided, as If he couldn't care less about what would Happen to his only son.
"Janet had came up to me at a gala that I was hosting, Jack was drinking she had told me that she needed a favor"
"And you taking in Tim was the favor." Dick say realization dawning on his face
"Yes, she had told me that her and Jack had no other family that could take him if Anything Were to happen" Bruce explains, resting His hand in his lap
"And that she felt as if she could trust me with her son.. to keep him safe if Jack were to do something stupid.." He continues "she called it Intuition"
Intuition, that her husband would do something so insanely stupid that it'd end up costing both of them their lives.
Oh Janet how he hates that you were right.
Perking His head up Jason Gazes over at Bruce ".. do-do you think she knew?" He asks mouth agape.
"I don't know.." Bruce answered. "I think so but I can't be sure"
Truth be told Bruce thinks Janet knew who he was, or at the very least thought that he and the dark knight knew each. She had such faith That he'd protect her son, He did. But he had failed her. All he can do now is be sure to honor (Avenge) her.
"We have other problems though" dick says Earning the other two's attention
"what do we do about his parents uh less than legal deals" he asks. " they had a bit of debt"
"They weren't above table so the government would Have no idea about the dealings" Bruce replies "We'd Have to locate the smuggling group the Jack had been working with if we Wished to recover the artifacts"
"Ether way we'd have to find out who hired the hit on the Drakes" Dick adds
"What if they go after Tim now that his parents are gone?" Jason interrupts "and like not just the one who hired the hit"
"Dick says they had some debt, it's not like dying stops all kinds of debt, just the student kind" he adds, picking At his nails.
"That part I can handle, don't worry" Bruce tells Jason. Debt isn't what's going to be difficult about getting Tim freed from what his dad had been Involved in.
Lost in conversation the trio don't hear as Alfred enters the room. Clearing his throat, they turn Their attention over to the butler.
"Now I'm glad you're all oh so passionate about making sure master Tim shall be safe." He states making his way further Into the room.
"But it's has been quite a night. I believe that all this" he says gesturing between the three heros "plotting can wait till morning wouldn't you agree."
Glancing at his sons, dick who has practically passed out on the couch he had claimed, And Jason whose Bruce wasn't entirely sure if he could claim that he was actually conscious.
Nodding Bruce speaks"you're right Alfred, we could use the rest"
After all from now onwards he has not 2 but 3 sons. He can only hope that Tim will be alright. Perhaps he should set up an appointment with black canary.
