Work Text:
Sirius enjoyed attention, and knowing that James and him both had a love language of physical touch, they were often touching in some way, even before everyone knew they were together. Sirius would always put his legs over James’ lap, or James would do it to Sirius. While they were always together as much as possible during the day, when night fell, James would hold Sirius and praise him. Most of the time, James would hold Sirius and he had the option to slip into his little space, or just cuddle. On the full moons, the two would assist Remus, and then the following nights Sirius would slip into his little space.
Tonight was one of those nights for the boys. Sirius had been bottling up stress for his O.W.L. 's and hadn’t been taking time for his mental health and James had started to see that.
~JAMES’ POV~
I waited up until it was just me and Sirius in the common room before walking over and rubbing the nape of his neck to relax him. “Siri, puppy, come on. You've been working too hard lately and I don’t want my puppy to be cranky and all later, so let’s go get you into something more comfortable and then we can cuddle and you can slip and not worry about your O.W.L. 's until morning.” I said in his ear as I bent down and kissed his shoulder. Sirius shuddered under my touch as he looked up at me.
“I can’t just walk away, master. I have to get it done. I am currently behind in my charms for the charms exam.” Sirius said as he looked up at the ceiling before closing his eyes. He was trying to not slip, but it wasn’t working. Sirius softly whines as he grips my arms. “Master..” He said in a low whimper. I couldn’t help but smile as I lifted him up, carried him to our dorm and placed him on my bed. I grabbed my jumper and a pair of cozy shorts and changed him into those as I grabbed his pacifier. I sat on my bed, drew the curtains, and placed the pacifier in his mouth as I handed him his stag stuffie that Marlene had made him secretly.
~3rd Person POV~
James kissed the boy's head as he curled up into a ball, and turned his back to James. Sirius knew that James would hold him and love him until the end of time, but he still feared that James would change his views on him and leave and then tell the whole castle that he was an age regressor. James couldn’t help but smile as he wrapped himself around Sirius and put the boy’s head on his chest. “You are allowed to be small and rest, baby bird. You don’t have to fear me leaving because I will never leave my little bear.” James assured as Sirius gripped onto his shirt.
“I know I can, but I’m still scared that you are going to humiliate me in front of everyone.” Sirius said softly, muffled even more by the pacifier. James smiled softly and kissed the boy's head as he rubbed the boy’s sides.
James gave a reassuring smile as he held Sirius close. “Even if that thought ever crossed my mind, I would gain nothing. So, why don’t you take a breath and let me care for you. I know you need it, you haven’t been my little puppy in three months.” James said as Sirius nodded. When Sirius would slip, his age range was 3 and younger.
Sirius finally caved and let his mind go fuzzy to the point he only remembered James being there. Tonight was a harder night for Sirius’ regression. Since Sirius hadn’t slipped in months, he was the youngest he had been in a long while; about 6 to 9 months old mentally at this point. James noticed and got up and grabbed one of the diapers he kept for when Sirius slipped this young. He slid it onto the boy, shushing the fussiness. Sirius always seemed embarrassed when James put a diaper on him, but at the same time he was grateful to have James as his caregiver.
“You know I only put a diaper on you when you slip younger than one. They aren’t punishment, but they are a way that we can ensure that you don’t wet the bed, again pup.” James assured as he pulled the boy close and changed him from the loose shirt and shorts into his ladybug-themed onesie and pulled out the bottle he kept in his room. He kept powdered milk stored in his room, so he got some of the powdered milk into the bottle and got up mixing it with water before shaking it to mix it and he climbed into the bed, pulling Sirius into his chest as he slid the bottle’s nipple into the little mouth as he started to hum softly while shushing him.
With James holding the bottle in Sirius’ mouth, and the pacifier being clipped to the boy's onesie, Sirius found his eyes started to get heavy. Sirius melted and as he took the bottle, he started to drift off to sleep, all nerves and anxieties had melted away at James taking time from his day to make sure that Sirius was comfortable, safe, and focusing on himself. James was more than an ideal boyfriend; he was an ideal caregiver, and even just an ideal friend. He cared about Sirius, no matter if it was while Sirius was small, bit, crying or laughing. It never mattered the time of day or night, if Sirius needed James, he was there. James was never there just to help Sirius, or for personal gain, but often he was there to show Sirius that he was loved, cherished, supported, and then he was also there to reassure that Sirius would never ever feel alone, even on the darkest of nights.
