Chapter Text
Mari walked outside, watching the life around her. She saw the children playing ball together, the people at stands trying to sell products, the wildlife, nature, and the sun.
Oh the bittersweet sun, the sun that made her feel so warm when looking at it, but also feel so disgusted. It felt disgusting to look at the sun everyday and remember the world she lives in.
She then looked towards the blue sky, so blue and beautiful she’d almost forget all the disgusting attributes in this world.
Mari started to walk again. She walked on a trail close to being hidden but she knew it was there. She walked until she saw the ship.
She took in the laughter and smiles of Luffy and his friends. She took it all in so she think about it before leaving.
“MARIII!!!” She looked over forcing a smile at her brother as he called her name. She didn’t feel joy like a normal sister should she felt nothing, and it made her feel horrible that she was lying to her sweet brother.
“Hello Luffy” Mari hugged him harder than usual but he brushed it off. “Come on the ship were about to set sail!!” Luffy smiled big. She could only nod as she looked at his bright wonderful smile.
Luffy tugged her arm to the ship where she saw all the straw hats. “Oi! Luffy let go of the poor girl.” She looked at Sanji. “Ah Sanji it’s okay I don’t mind that much..” He simply shrugged.
A voice spoke up. “So where did you want to go again?” Mari looked at Nami’s face remembering all the happy moments with the girl. “Marineford” Luffy looked at her with excitement.
“Are you going to start some trouble!!! Cause we’re always happy to help!” She chuckled at the boy. “No I’m just going to see grandpa.” Luffy face contorted into confusion. “Why do you wanna see the old man?” She shrugged but knew deep down why.
“Been a while since we last talked.” The crew accepted that reason. Mari smiled and wanted to spend a lot of time with them before leaving. But then the thought about how spending to much time together with them would only make them sadder when she died.
Mari then thought about just observing the crews happy moments so she could replay them in her head when it was time to leave.
Nani walked up to Mari. “We’ll probably get there in two or three days, that good?” She only nodded because she was afraid that if she talked her voice would come out cracked.
Mari looked away only for Nami to sit next to her. “You plotting something? You’ve been acting stranger than usual. Mari was frightened when she heard the words and only looked away.
“I guess just not a lot of sleep...” Her voice slightly and She was glad when the red head didn’t notice, but she felt tears threatening to fall. “Hm ok.” Nami got up and left.
—————-Nami POV——————
I walked towards the rest of my crew. “Nami what’s wrong..?” Ussop questioned as he notices her frown. “It’s Mari..”
“Huh what’s around with her?” Luffy asked. “She just seems so... Just so blank, like it looks like she’s soulless.” Zoro just stared “yeah I mean she’s usually joyful,, but y’kniw she goes blank sometimes”
I looked up to the green haired man. “Yeah Mari is always either quiet or energized!” I sighed... “No I mean she seems like dead, and just distant kinda like a ghost.... She usually hangs around with us, but she’s just been distant!”
Luffy frowned at me. “Well then I’ll invite her to hang out!” He ran away before anyone could do anything. “Welp that solves it” I lust looked at Zoro before walking back to the front deck. ‘Somethings wrong....’
—————-Few days later————
Mari stared at marineford in the distance. She was happy to get off since she felt like such a burden. She was ignoring and distancing herself off from her brother which was such a bitchy move, but he wouldn’t stop trying to invite her to hang out with the crew.
Mari then thought about how Luffy wouldn’t care that much when she died since she’s being such an ass to him. (Wrong he’s care a lot)
As they came closer she walked where the straw hats were chilling. “ Good to see you Mari-swan.” She nodded at Sanji before walking to where Luffy was. “Thank you for bringing me here Luffy.” Luffy looked up at her with childish joy. “Anything for my sis!” She smiled sadly. “It was fun traveling with you all, goodbye..”
Mari hugged all of them before walking off the ship. As the ship sailed away she finally let the tears fall. As she sliently cried she saw them waving. She waved to them before walking off.
Mari turned invisible and walked where Garp’s room was. She walked in and saw no one, so she decided to just wait. It was only five minutes when she saw the door open.
She went invisible again and made sure no one could sense her with Haki. When the door opened in walked a boy with pink hair and Garp.
“Ahahhaha! Alright Kolby here’s my paperwork.” She smiled at the slight of her happy grandpa. “I’ll make sure to get it done by tomorrow sir!” Garp slapped the kids back. “Great!”
The pink haired boy left and Garp sat down at his desk. Mari slowly became visible and Garp didn’t noticed until she tapped his shoulder. “GAHH!” She looked at him with a smile. “Hello grandpa!” Garp eyes went wide. “What are you doing here kid! You could get caught?!?”
She just shrugged because honestly her demise was coming soon anyways. “I wanted to stop by and see my grandpa,” He out his hand to his face. “What I’m not allowed to spend time with you?” Garp looked the girl with pity. “Look kiddo I miss you but you need to leave quickly.”
She felt a ring of disappointment in her heart but ignored it. “Alright, never planned on staying long anyways.” He signed. “Nice see you grandpa.” Mari leaned in for a hug and was surprised when he hugged back.
She then felt wetness on her shirt. “What.. why?” She felt so stupid, how could she let her grandpa cry. God she was so useless. “Nothing...” Garp cries as he realized this may be the last hug he’ll ever have from her since she’s a pirate now.
Mari pulled away quickly. Feeling like a total disappointment since all she did was be a burden to him. “Bye Kiddo..” Mari waves before covering her presence with Haki and turning invisible.
She quickly left marineford and pulled out her vivire car from ace and traveled on the ocean again.
——————Time skip——————
Mari was jumping on the Moby Dick where she saw Whitebeard, Marco, And Ace. “Ace!” She called out to him. “Huh, OH! Mari!!” Ace ran to her pulling her into a hug. “How you doing Mari, Yoi?” She pulled away from ace and went to hug Marco instead. “Fine!” He hugged back. “Good to see you pipsqueak!” I looked at him “Nice to see you too old man, also I’m stronger than before!”
I smiled before remembering what I was here to do. “Well Ace I just wanted to stop and see you, oh and you guys too.” Whitebeard laughed. “We’re always happy to see you.”
“I should get going now though,” Mari ran and hugged Whitebeard before pulling back and getting ready to leave. “Bye guys.” She smiled until Ace pulled her over to him.
“C’mon stay a little longer!!” My gaze saddened. “Sorry Ace but I’m busy.” He poured before letting her go. “Finee!! Well see you soon?” Mari paused... She felt nervous. “Um y-yeah! See you soon.” She felt even more like a bitch for lying to her other brother. Ace was going to question your change in mood before you hurried off and sailed away.
Mari was deep in thought when she finally reached the island. She felt good, She was finally goin to leave this disgusting world and stop being a burden to everyone.
She walked through the empty island and to her house. She looked for her supplies. She quickly found the knife and the cloth. She took a breath before picking up a pen.
She looked for paper and started to write.
[Dear whoever finds me]
[I am happy to finally know I’ll be doing something good for once and by that I mean ending my stupid life. I have realized I’ve only been a burden to my family and everyone, so it’s here I’ll apologize. Dear Ace, I’m sorry for never being there in the hard times and leaving you. I’m sorry for being a truly horrible sister and lying. Dear Luffy, I’m sorry for bringing you disappointment whenever I’d refuse joining you, I would’ve joined you if I wasn’t such a burden. I’m also sorry that I was never there for you and I was a bad sister. Dear Garp, I’m sorry for being a disappointment to you. I’m sorry I never joined the marines and I’m sorry I wasn’t a good granddaughter. Dear dragon, I’m sorry for being born, I’m sorry for being a disappointment, I’m sorry for being hard to raise, and I’m sorry for ruining your life. Please accept this apology and my gift to you. I hope my death is enough for you all. Goodbye.]
Mari dropped the pen before putting the cloth in her mouth. She picked up the knife and started to plunge in straight into her chest. She cried before everything went black.
