Work Text:
Bakugou is an angry omega who doesn't let people touch him. Like a cat hybrid, he isn't interested in forming bonds or caring about other people's feelings. He refuses to have a pack because he can do things alone, and extras should mind their own business.
At first, most students in class 1-A were baffled by his attitude. They were used to omegas who yearned for touch and wanted to take care of their people, who begged for an alpha. And yeah, cat omegas were kind of loners, but they still had packs who cared for them and vice versa. They made nests, scented, and purred to those who were closest to them. Instead, the blonde refused to even make friends, to let out his scent except to make everybody clear that he was angry or annoyed. He probably didn't even have a nest, and his only way of communicating was through screams and hisses. At first, they were put off by his attitude, but by the third year, they had grown fond of it, making it their new normal.
One particular day, he was angry, exploding at every single little thing. He screamed, hissed, and destroyed everyone during training.
Kaminari, a foxy omega, wanted to play a prank on Bakugou, planning on scaring him as revenge for today's exercise. But he needed the help of alpha Kirishima, who had a spare key to Bakugou's room "for emergencies." Kaminari told Kiri that Bakugou had taken something from him, and once they were inside the room, Kaminari went to hide in the closet.
"Bro, what are you doing?" Kirishima asked, surprised.
"Going to scare Bakugou. He was being a jerk today," said the blonde with a playful smile. "Care to join me?"
"Dude! What the fuck! No! Do you have any idea what Bakugou would do to you?" Kaminari didn't respond, just ducked to get inside the closet. "I didn't sign up for this, man."
The electric traitor looked at him, wiggling his eyebrows, trying to convince the redhead to join the prank. But Kirishima was exhausted after today's training exercise, and he didn't have it in him to save his friend from inevitable doom. With a sigh, he went to the door. Unlike Kaminari, who was an omega, Kirishima couldn't be here without Bakugou's permission. Being an alpha uninvited in an omega's room would bring bad repercussions. He wasn't that kind of alpha, but still, it was frowned upon. Even though the explosive omega didn't care for what people said, he didn't like others in his space. He couldn't afford to make him angry. The omega needed to rest today, god knows he had a bad day.
Just when he was about to open the door, the sound of steps coming closer froze him. It was Bakugou coming to his room, and he couldn't explain the reason for his presence here without throwing Kaminari under the bus. So he had no other choice but to hide with his friend, hoping that if he was allowed to talk things through, only the fox omega would be blasted.
The door opens, and the strong figure of Katsuki can be seen carrying some red rags. No, those are clothes, and by the smell of it, pinewood and petrichor, those were Kirishima's clothes.
In the middle of the room, Bakugou is standing with Kirishima's shirt, sniffing and scenting it like it was his most precious possession, taking a deep breath, Bakugou released all of his stress before pressing his cheeks against Kirishima's shirt. He buried his face in the fabric, hoping to drown in the alpha's scent.
Suddenly, a low rumble caught their attention. To Kaminari, it sounded like a growling beast ready to attack, but to Kirishima, it was more like a soft kitty purr that made him want to pat Bakugou's head and give him his own scent in return.
For the first time, the two boys heard Bakugou purr. It was a sound no one knew existed. Bakugou had a relaxed expression on his face, smiling softly at the shirt and looking at it fondly. Kirishima felt something inside him tingle at the sight.
Bakugou then moved through his room, heading towards the closet like it was routine. Both Kirishima and Kaminari had their hearts in their throats. Kaminari realized that his plan wasn't such a great idea and hoped Bakugou wouldn't kill him slowly. Fortunately, he didn't.
Bakugou opened the top cabinet and pulled out a blank body pillow and... was that an All Might plushie? Kaminari didn't recognize it, assuming it was a childhood rag too embarrassing to keep out in the open. However, Kirishima knew exactly what it was. He had won the plushie for Bakugou on the day they went to the festival with their classmates. While Bakugou had put on a brave front, Kirishima couldn't shake the feeling that the omega was a little disappointed that day.
He recalled that day, they played some games, ate a little bit of food, and since Bakugou didn't care about second gender norms, he didn't hold back to please the blond, feeding him and scenting him to calm him down. He looked kind of cute while doing so, but still, there was that light of sadness in his eyes.
The sound of a sigh brings Kirishima back to reality, and there's Bakugou still in the middle of his room taking a deep inhale, savoring the smell, rubbing his cheeks with the shirt. The sound of a rumble makes the hiding boys perk up, it's so soft...
Bakugou hugs the plushie too, with the same love he did Kirishima's shirt, and puts the shirt on the body pillow, as if he were making a Kirishima pillow, and starts smiling fondly, scenting them while holding the plushie as if it were his pup... Is he... Is he playing pretend with those two??
He puts the "pillowshima" on his bed, cuddling with it, and Kirishima is mesmerized by the picture: a scary omega now purring to the scent of him as if he were his alpha.
Bakugou hugged the pillow tightly, with Kirishima's shirt wrapped around it, as if he was holding onto him.
"I had a bad day," he whispered softly, barely audible, as he buried his face in the fabric, trying to inhale more of Kirishima's scent, maybe to calm himself down or to feel closer to him. His voice cracked as he continued, "Shitty Deku stole one of my moves again. Do you know how fucking hard I worked on that kick? I stretched for hours, trained with Tapeface, and even modified my suit. And that rat, that stupid rat," he paused to catch his breath, tears streaming down his face, "everyone congratulated him like he came up with the move all by himself. And if I say that I made it, I'm just attention seeking child."
Kaminari winced at Bakugou's words. At first, he thought the explosive omega was just being his usual self, trying to hog the spotlight and belittle Midoriya's efforts. But now he could see the pain behind the outburst, the frustration of not being recognized for his hard work and talent. Bakugou was hurting, and Kaminari wished he could do something to help him.
They didn't really give Explosión Boy enough credit. Everyone saw him training, doing more yoga and other exercises to kick even higher, and they all knew the move was Bakugou's. It debuted during a training exercise with Class 1-B, where he knocked the shit out of Tetsu Tetsu with just one kick. But it still wasn't perfect, and the cat-hybrid knew it. He kept training and he may have already used that perfect kick during a training session or a criminal chase, but the one they saw was Midoriya's.
Katsuki getting upset about Midoriya's praise seemed more than just superficial. Nobody acknowledged that Bakugou made that kick, likely because of his attitude. He was being a jerk, and no one wanted to give him the satisfaction.
They watch with bated breath as the cat hybrid approaches the "body shima" and begins scenting it, as if it were Kirishima himself. Carefully, Bakugou places the plushie and body pillow on the floor, creating a makeshift resting spot. He positions himself next to them, embracing the pillow tightly while using the sleeves of Kirishima's hoodie to hug himself. Soft purrs escape his lips, filling the room with a comforting sound.
Kirishima's heart skips a beat at the sight before him. He feels a mix of emotions swirling within him—affection, tenderness, and a desire to protect Bakugou's vulnerable side. It's a rare glimpse into the depth of Bakugou's feelings, one that Kirishima treasures.
On the other hand, Kaminari felt a mix of confusion and weirded-out emotions. He couldn't comprehend the depth of Bakugou's connection with this... kiripillow, finding it peculiar and slightly unsettling. His eyebrows furrowed as he exchanged a puzzled glance with Kirishima, silently questioning the situation before them.
Unsure of how to react, Kirishima silently gestured to Kaminari to remain quiet, not wanting to disturb the delicate moment between Bakugou and the pillow. They continued to observe, their curiosity mingled with a sense of protectiveness towards their fellow classmate.
In that fleeting moment, as Bakugou embraced the pillow and murmured softly to it, Kirishima felt a need to chuf but stopped himself. He was surprised by the omega's demeanor.
He wishedto see that scene again, with him instead of a pillow.
