Work Text:
Tulin doesn't know it—hell, Link barely knows it—but he's a lot like Revali sometimes.
Link manages a day of rest after the Colgera and the whole Stormwind thing, and then he's off again, running around the revitalized Rito Village to restock and prepare for the next leg of his journey. He pauses on the stairs up to the cooking pot he uses, looking out at Tulin with a few younger chicks.
He's sitting on the edge of the balcony, telling a sanitized story about the flying ships and the battles they'd fought. At the moment, he's explaining the cannons on the ship, making gestures and sound effects. The three little chicks are sprawled out in the sunshine, soaking up both it and the story. It's adorable, and for a flash of a moment, Link thinks he sees a different Rito standing over them, listening to Tulin with a smile.
Link blinks, and the image is gone. He hums to himself, then continues on his way.
The next morning, Link is packing his things to head out when he hears someone come up behind him. He pauses his work and turns to see Tulin standing there, eyeing him with glee and a gleam of competition.
"Now that I have the Great Eagle Bow," he says, "I gotta try it out. Wanna go to the flight range?"
Link smiles slowly and raises an eyebrow, asking silently if Tulin really thinks he can beat him.
"We'll never know if we don't try," Tulin answers, and that's good enough for Link. He snatches his things and gestures as if to say, lead the way.
He's not entirely sure he'll actually beat the kid, though.
