Work Text:
Percy loves his father's palace. In the heart of the ocean, there were no expectations for him to meet all he had to do was be himself for the sea to welcome him.
Percy wiggled his tail fin in the dark sand beneath him. It had been a gift to him from Poseidon, a dark royal blue tail that his father had said complemented his eyes. Percy's skin had mutated into a shade of Yale blue. He had found great joy in completely turning into his favorite color, even at the expense of his older half-brother's look of blatant disapproval.
Percy allowed a passing school of fish to swim excited circles around his drifting body as he watched the sun bounce off the ocean's surface, warming the gentle current.
He missed his lover.
After his and Annabeth's breakup after entering New Rome together, Apollo wasted no time entering Percy's life, first as a friend, then as a possible suitor. After the both of them had officially tied the knot, Percy found himself spending most of his time with the hyperactive blonde even though he was grateful for his dad taking the time to reach out the transition from daily Apollo to no Apollo was rough, so deep in the ocean where the sun didn't penetrate the walls of his father's palace.
So Percy chose to pull on his big boy pants, hit the waves, and take a quick trip to salt creek beach, where he would wait for his flamboyant boyfriend.
Percy awoke to a disturbance in the water. In the reflection of the water stood a glowing figure. He shot up to the beach's surface, knocking his visitor to the ground.
"Apollo!"
"Percy. I apologize for taking so long; my horses were being brats."
In the distance, Percy could hear the Stallions of the Sun Chariot stomp in protest. He liked to imagine they liked him more than their owner most days.
"Don't say that about them. I'm sure they were behaving just fine." Percy relished in the heated skin of Apollo's palms rubbing up and down his scales.
Apollo laughed, happy to have the young sea prince back in his arms after a week's long distance. He layered Percy's blue skin in feverish kisses, turning gentle blue to Lilac. The only thing that would make this moment better for him would be if they were lying in the fields of Delos rather than some remote California beach.
How he couldn't wait to take Percy one day, but for now, this would do.
