Chapter Text
Scene changes to outside of a futuristic train station. There are electronic billboards on buildings, and blue and orange lights can be seen through windows.
Female Announcer: (on PA) One hundred and twenty two days since the last Skrull attack.
“What are Skrulls?” Thompson asks.
“Probably another alien race,” Jarvis says.
“This is crazy, I never thought I would see something like that. It seems impossible,” Daniel Sousa says, amazed.
Vers: (off screen) Has anyone ever seen what the Supreme Intelligence looks like?
The scene then changes to Vers and Yon-Rogg inside of a train carriage, surrounded by other Kree.
Yon-Rogg: No one can look upon the Supreme Intelligence in its true form.
“What’s a Supreme Intelligence?” Dottie asks.
“I don’t know. Some kind of leader?” Peggy answers.
Yon-Rogg: You know that. Our subconscious chooses the way they appear to us. So it’s sacred. It’s personal. No Kree divulges it, ever.
Vers: Who do you see? Your brother?
Yon-Rogg: No.
Vers: Father?
Yon-Rogg: (annoyed) No.
Vers: Your old commander?
“She’s annoying,” Thompson says.
Yon-Rogg: Vers…
Vers: (smug) It’s me you see, isn’t it?
“She knows how to push his buttons,” Dottie says, amused.
Yon-Rogg: (amused) I see what you are trying to do.
Vers: (chuckling) Is it working?
Yon-Rogg: Yes. But you won’t succeed in changing the subject.
Vers: What’s the point of giving me these (she gestures to her hands) if you don’t want me to use them?
“Good point,” Howard starts, “Why give her something she isn’t allowed to use?”
“I don’t know, doesn't make any sense,” Peggy agrees and thinks of a possible explanation.
“Maybe they didn’t give her these powers,” Dottie makes a guess.
Yon-Rogg: I want you to use them. The Supreme Intelligence gave me the responsibility of showing you how to use them.
Vers: I know how.
Yon-Rogg: Yeah, if that were true, you’d be able to knock me down without them.
Vers pulls a face and punches Yon-Rogg in his arm.
Yon-Rogg: Control your impulses. Stop using this (points to her chest, above her heart) and start using this (gestures towards her head) . I need you to be the best version of yourself.
“Soldiers with brain and heart combined are way better than the emotionless ones,” Sharon states.
“Emotionless soldiers are dangerous and can be easily controlled by superiors who just want to achieve their goals,” Peggy says.
“Maybe that's the point,” Dottie mutters.
“You seem to know a lot about this, Ms. Underwood,” Thompson says.
“You shouldn't talk about things you know nothing about,” Dottie snarls dangerously. Thompshon wants to push further, but a warning glare from Sharon shuts him up.
Scene changes to the inside of the Supreme Intelligence. The floor has a hexagon lit up with white light. Vers walks onto the hexagon and extends her arms beside her. Tentacle-like wires appear from below her feet and connect to her legs, arms, and head.
The scene changes again, but the wires have disappeared and the walls have been replaced with an endless glossy floor. Lights then descend from above and the Supreme Intelligence appears from within them.
“This is so awesome!” Howard cheers.
S.P.: Vers.
Vers: Intelligence.
S.P.: Your commander insists that you’re fit to serve.
Vers: I am.
S.P.: You struggle with your emotions with your past, which fuels them.
A floating image of the Earth appears,
“Is that Earth?” Jarvis asks.
“Yes, it is,” Sharon answers.
“Could that mean she is from Earth?” Sousa asks.
“Maybe,” Peggy answers.
Vers turns to look at it. The image then turns into a variety of planets.
S.P.: You are just one victim of the Skrull expansion that has threatened our civilization for centuries. Imposters who silently infiltrate and then take over our planets.
“These Skrulls are very dangerous,” Thompson grumbles.
The image then zooms into one of the planets, revealing a Skrull carrying a weapon similar to in Vers' dream.
S.P.: Horrors that you remember and so much that you don’t.
“It’s trying to imply sympathy, but it sounds so fake,” Peggy notices.
Vers: It’s all blank. My life. You’re supposed to take the form of who I most admire but I don’t even remember who this person was to me.
“Maybe it’s her mother,” Howard guesses.
S.P.: Perhaps it’s a mercy sparing you from a deeper pain.
“That shouldn't matter. Memories are making us who we are, with all our scars, hurt, mistakes, achievement, happiness and loved ones,” Sharon says. “Without memories we are just empty shells.”
S.P.: Freeing you to do what all Kree must put your people’s needs before your own. We’ve given you a great gift. The chance to fight for the good of all Kree.
“This is an unusual and an ignorant way to describe the situation,” Peggy says, unsure what to think about this S.P.
The chip on Vers' neck begins to blink, almost simultaneously her hands begin to glow.
Vers: I want to serve.
S.P.: Then master yourself. What was given can be taken away.
Vers' chip brightens and her hand stops glowing.
“If they can control these powers so well and if they gave them to her, why did they give them to her?” Jarvis asks.
“What do you mean, Mr. Jarvis?” Peggy asks.
“Well, why would they give a girl, furthermore a severely injured girl from a foreign world, these marvelous powers? They could give the powers to someone of their own,” Jarvis elaborates.
“He’s right, why would they go through all this trouble?” Howard says, agreeing with Jarvis’ theory.
Vers: I won’t let you down.
S.P.: We’ll know soon enough. You have a mission. Serve well, and with honor.
