Chapter 64: Ep. 10: The Truth, The Pole Truth, And Nothing But The Truth

Summary:

Last time on Total Drama Island, our 8 remaining contestants had a nice relaxing race to the top of a mountain... hah! It's funny saying that out loud! No, they were put through the wringer as they had to survive raging river rapids, hungry crocodiles, deadly geysers, and a whole mountains worth of bees just to win the most grueling race they've ever participated in! Most people ended up falling too far behind to have any hope leaving the bitter rivals of Bowie and Jonah to battle it out, Jonah trying to sneak his why by but he was unfortunately too tired from the hike up and gave his position away, allowing Bowie to win immunity once more. By this point, the other contestants were too tired of Chase's... well, everything, and finally got rid of him. Who will be carried away by the drone of despair today? Spoilers! Find out now on Total! Drama! Island!

Chapter Text

You certainly had a… lot to think about over that night.

With Chase gone, there were only two of you remaining in your cabin and since you were already very used to the sound of Zee’s snoring, it may as well have been completely silent in there which left you with a lot of time to just sit there and stare off into space.

Going forward was going to be difficult now… it was that stage of the game where it was just becoming harder and harder to actually trust anyone properly anymore. The only positive was that Bowie would be gone the moment he wasn’t immune; nobody liked him. But beyond that? You couldn’t predict anything anymore.

You only really picked up on it recently but you did notice that Millie seemed to be relying less and less on Priya with every passing challenge. Did she feel bad about whatever she had put into that notebook? Or was she just getting an uncharacteristic boost in confidence? Maybe it was both. Priya and MK were against each other completely and as soon as Bowie is out, you can see them going for each other's throats. They both still liked you but that raised a whole ‘nother issue. Interacting or teaming up with one probably pisses the other off and only makes the feud worse… and you have no idea how to handle that right now. Bowie was an issue but that was nothing new at least. Didn’t change the fact that he was a massive thorn in your side though, especially if he keeps winning immunity like this

Wayne and Zee… well, those two were fine but there were different issues that came with those two. On one hand, Wayne wasn’t the smartest and might be a prime target for manipulation. And that’s not even considering the crush that you’ve been doing your best to suppress since it started. Is a reality show really the best time to deal with that shit? And then on the other hand, Zee has sobered up almost entirely by now and the memory issues he had before aren’t a problem anymore, at least in the game. But you have to admit that his behaviour feels… off. He acts normal to you and maybe Wayne but to the others he feels a lot more sarcastic and almost rude than you ever thought he could be. Is that… just what Zee is like? It was hard to imagine the Zee that you met on day one actually being a massive asshole but at the same time, if you would never be the target of it… did it really matter to you? Or does that make you the real asshole?

You were seriously starting to overthink everything, you needed to sleep before you ran out of time to do so. You had no idea what time it was and frankly? You didn’t really care, checking the time would just waste more time. So instead, you just allowed yourself to pass out and have your mind wander off in literally any other direction.

You still felt a little groggy the following morning as you sat off the side of your bed and tapped your fingers absentmindedly against the wooden bed frame. You weren’t really in the mood to move yet but also didn’t want to just go back to sleep. Luckily, it turned out to not matter too much as Zee suddenly came stomping back into the cabin looking peeved as he sat down next to you and huffed in annoyance.

“What happened?”

“Dining hall is locked tight and when I tried to ask about it, I just got ignored.”

“The dining hall is locked? That’s… new. I didn’t even know that door could lock.”

“Well it can. I’m willing to bet it’s for some stupid challenge.”

“Already? We just had an elimination!”

“Yeah well, seems like Chris might be getting impatient… or he expects this challenge to take a while…”

You didn’t like the sound of that at all. A long challenge while not being able to eat in the morning? Nuts to that! That sounds like actual torture! Thankfully you kept a couple snacks on you that you were able to eat and you made sure to share a couple with Zee but it definitely wasn’t nearly enough to really be called a ‘breakfast’. It was better than literally nothing though. Zee eventually stood up to stretch.

“I’m gonna go look for berries or something like we did to avoid eating those rancid beans. You can join if you’d like.”

Zee didn’t bother waiting for an answer and just left the cabin. It likely wouldn’t be too hard to catch up with him if you wanted to anyway. You had no idea what the next challenge was but if the dining hall was locked now, there was a good chance it would be locked until the challenge started. It also means there wouldn’t be that much time before he called everyone for the challenge either. It’s not like you had a huge appetite so you might be able to make do with the snacks you had… that and you expected Zee to save a little for you regardless if he found anything.

It really comes down to what you want to prioritize here.

After overthinking last night, you aren’t really comfortable going out of your way to talk to MK or Priya right now… just to be uh… safe.

But what does that really leave for you?

You could always catch up with Zee and help him with his endeavor on finding at least some semblance of a breakfast out in the forest. Two hands are better than one.

Besides him… nobody else is a perfect option without hesitation…

Wayne hasn’t changed at all. He’s the same goofball he’s always been but you’re afraid that talking to him too much will cause some others to target him. He already received votes last night so… but he’s also one of the only ones left you’re comfortable with actively speaking with; it’s a bit of a dilemma.

You weren’t a fan of Millie but as long as Bowie was around, she was at least inoffensive and perhaps talking to her will give you a little more insight on her relationships with the others. You had to admit, she was a bit of an enigma since you never really paid attention to her.

And Bowie…? Pfft, as if you’d ever actually approach to talk at this point. But there’s nothing stopping you from following and eavesdropping on him right? You aren’t sure what you’d figure out from that but… that’s also kind of the point. Surely Bowie has some kind of plan to try and thwart his elimination again and any information about it could be helpful.

So…

Who will you focus on this morning?
A. Zee
B. Wayne
C. Millie
D. Bowie
