Chapter Text
Mork is once again lying on his bed, sad music blasting directly into his ears.
He hears the sound of the door opening and then he feels a dull thud on his bed, but he doesn’t have enough force to turn around, but at least he removes one of his earplugs.
“You know, once I had this brother, I believe his name was Sutthaya, but his friends called him Mork. He was so fierce, he knew what he wanted and always tried his best to have it.”
“Meen…”
“He was my inspiration some days, I always wondered how he could be so sure of himself, how he could be so set on his ideas, even if no one was beside him, even if no one believed in him, and now he just mops around in his room listening to sad music and I’m pretty sure he hasn’t showered in days.”
“Meen, please leave if you are here just to bully me. I’m already miserable without your help.”
“It’s just that it’s weird to see you like this, the usual you would be outside of Pi’s house, begging for forgiveness, or even for a chance to see him.”
“Well, I suppose I could do that, but I am in love with Pi, and if he’s not in love with me, then there’s nothing I can do at this point. I tried to be his friend for almost two years, and the only time we ever came close to that was when he asked me a favor because he liked someone else.”
“You’re just giving up?” His brother’s tone is sad, and Mork can sense that, but there’s nothing he can do about it.
“I’m not giving up, Meen, but I care about Pi, I care about him so much that if he doesn’t want to talk to me or see me, then I’ll do exactly that.”
“And how are you going to cope with seeing him around campus everyday? How are you going to react each time you see him in someone else’s arms?”
Mork thinks about it. The only answer is that he won’t, he won’t cope with it, he will just die a little bit more inside.
“How long has it been since you last spoke to Pi? Since you saw him?” asks Meen, and Mork doesn’t even know why he bothers to answer.
“The last time I spoke to him was that night, almost two weeks ago, and I haven’t seen him since our last shared lecture.”
“And let me ask you one thing. What was the lecture about?”
Mork doesn’t have to turn around to know that his brother is smiling that cunning smile of yours, one that he surely picked up from Duean. The truth is, he doesn’t even know what class it was, doesn’t really remember who the teacher was or what they talked about.
“I don’t know.”
“And if I were to ask you in which seat Pi was sitting, how his hair was styled, or anything regarding him, would you be able to answer.”
Yes. Yes . “Probably”
“And did he look angry at you, perhaps?”
Mork tries to remember that day, and everyday that has passed since that fateful night, and with surprise, he realizes that Pi didn’t really seem mad at him. Obviously he hadn’t spoken to him, but he hadn’t even tried to confront him, scream at him, or really interact with him.
“He’s so mad at him, he pretends I don’t even exist.”
“Does he?” asks Meen.
“He does.” replies Mork, sure of himself.
“Do I?” asks another voice inside of the room.
“You do.” replies Mork, before his brain can even register that he’s hearing Pi’s voice.
Mork usually thinks of himself as a brave person, one that doesn’t shy away from anything, always taking the blunt, but now the only solution to his current problem is to hide himself even more in his blanket.
“If you’re here to scream at me and say that you hate me, don’t bother, I already know.” tries to say Mork, guarding his heart from even more hurt.
“Oh, I’m so mad at you” says Pi, just as Mork feels the weight of Meen’s body removing itself from his bed, Pi’s own replaces it.
“I know.” says Mork, voice still small. “I know I fucked up and that I shouldn’t have said that to Arun, but I wanted to hurt him a little, just like seeing you two together hurt me.”
“But why did you lie to him? I know what you said, Duean told me, but at least you could have told him something that was real, like the fact that you were my first kiss, and not him, but also the fact that you were my first time, not him, but instead you chose to lie to him. If asked about it, I could have told him that you lied and it would be true, but if he had asked about anything else…”
“What did you say to him then?” asks Mork, curiosity having the better of him.
“Nothing.” said Pi, nonchalantly.
Mork turned around to face him properly, only his eyes coming out of the blanket.
“What do you mean, nothing?”
“Arun just thought that you were some random drunk saying random things, Mork.”
“Then why…”
“Arun called things quits with me because I kept pressing him to know what you had said to me, and kept checking my phone in the hope that you would text me, to annoy me, to let me know that you had arrived home, but you never did.”
“So it’s not my fault.” said Mork, almost not believing his words.
“Yes, it is.” said Pi, surprising him.
“No, it is not.” said Mork, convinced this time, fully getting out of the blanket.
“Yes. It. Is.” said Pi, this time with more force behind it.
“The fuck did I do then?” asked then Mork.
“You made me fall in love with you, you stupid brat, and it’s entirely your fault. Always parading around with that face and that smile, always being nice to me and helping me even when I don’t want to be helped. You know how infuriating that is?”
Mork takes a little more time than necessary to process Pi’s words, because individually, he knows what they mean, but being put together in that order and then being spoken by Pi? Huh, huh, no way this is happening to him.
“I’m sorry, what?”
“I tell you that I like and all you have to say to me in return is what?” asks Pi, trying to keep a stern face, but Mork can see the way his lips are trying to contain his smile.
It takes another moment for things to set in, but as soon as they do, Mork is all over Pi, hugging him. “You like me, you like me, you like me ”
“Yeah, yeah, don’t make me regret it.” says Pi, smiling affectionately even if Mork’s entire weight is on him.
“I have waited for this for two years, I can’t believe it’s finally happening.” says Mork, face buried in between Pi’s shoulder and neck.
“You’ve actually been in love with me for two years?” asks Pi, a little surprised.
“Yes, yes, ever since the day you helped me with the printer.” says Mork, peppering kisses all over Pi’s face.
“You act all tough, but the second you come in contact with me, you become all sappy and romantic”.
“I’m your boyfriend first, a human being second.” Mork says, smiling from above Pi.
“And who said anything about being boyfriends?” Pi pins him with a hard look, but Mork knows that it’s all for show.
“You like me, I like you, what’s more to say?”
“Alright, I’ll be your boyfriend.” says Pi and Mork is already covering him in kisses. “But I have my conditions.”
“Whatever you want.” says Mork, kissing all over Pi’s neck.
“First, you won’t act all lovey-dovey at school, you know I don’t like it when people stare at me.” Pi starts listing off. “Second, you have to be sincere with me, always. Third…” starts to say Pi, but Mork has begun sucking on one particular spot on his neck and Pi can’t remember for the life of him what he was even going to say.
“Third?” asks Mork, a smug smile playing on his lips.
“Third… You’ll respect my decisions, and when I say no you have to accept it.”
“Yeah, I accept everything, in fact, I think you could ask me to only walk around in my underwear and I would do it.” says Mork, too happy not to show it.
“Would you?”
“If that’s what my boyfriend wants.” says Mork, voice barely a whisper.
“Right now your boyfriend would like to be kissed.” says Pi, and soon enough his wish is granted by Mork.
