Chapter 4: Back To Mischief Night

Chapter Text

Back To Mischief Night

“Thea?” Laurel asked, confused as the younger girl showed up at her door. “Is this about your brother’s case?”

“Not Exactly. Thea said slowly. Laurel could tell she was nervous by the way she was wringing her hands and chewing her lip a bit. She remembered how she used to do that when they were younger. She hadn’t spent too much time with the girl since Oliver disappeared.

“Hey.” Laurel started gently “You can tell or ask me anything Thea.” She put her hand on the younger girl’s shoulder. Thea looked up at her, her big eyes looked sad.

“Ollie’s been….different since he got back.”

“Yeah I know.” Laurel sighed as she pulled the younger girl into a hug.

“I remembered how I used to watch you, Ollie, Tommy, and sometimes Sara pull pranks on Mischief Night. Well Oliver always seemed to have fun. And well I thought…”

“You thought we should bring Mischief Night back this year.” Laurel finished.

“Yeah.” Thea said quietly. “You don’t have to join me if you don’t want to. I know you guys have been..”

“Thea.” Laurel said. “I’ll do it.”

“Really?” Thea said and the hope and joy in her eyes was enough to make Laurel know her decision was the right one.

“Yeah. I used to have fun with it too.”

“Great!”

The two spent the next hour talking about the last Mischief Nights where Ollie and Tommy would rush into anything and Laurel would shake her head a bit before immediately following. Those were some of Laurel’s best memories. Then they moved onto their plan.

By the time Mischief Night struck the two we’re ready for their plans. They met up after Laurel finished at work and snuck to where Tommy should be. As Tommy walked out of a club the two jumped from a corner Laurel had silly string which she sprayed Tommy with and Thea Popped a confetti cannon before pulling glitter out and throwing it onto him. The girls were laughing and Tommy quickly joined after a brief moment of panic. “What is this about?” he asked.

“Mischief Night.” Thea said with a smirk.

“Oh. I see.” Tommy replied before looking at Laurel.

“Wanna join?” Laurel asked with a smile.

“I always do.” Tommy replied.

They got into a car Tommy called and filled him in on what was next.

“Oliver!” Thea screamed from her room. Oliver immediately sprinted to her room.

“Thea?!” he called worried. He burst into her room to see her standing near her bed.

“Which one for tomorrow?” Thea asked, holding up two costume options.

Oliver sighed “I thought you were hurt.”

“No. Just wondering what I should wear for your party.” Oliver sighed and moved closer to Thea with a small smile on his face. Oliver noticed a smirk on Thea’s face and a bit of a mischievous twinkle in her eye, but didn’t think much of it.

Oliver was walking back to his room almost thirty minutes later. He couldn’t help but think about how long it took Thea to choose a costume, usually she had one ready. He walked through his sideways and immediately tripped on string. He caught himself before he fell and quickly looked around outside. No one seemed to be there. He looked into his room and saw that there was toilet paper strung all over everything. “Thea!” he called. He immediately heard her giggling and then saw Thea, Tommy, and Laurel all walk towards him laughing.

“Happy Mischief Night!” Tommy practically screamed.

Oliver started laughing. “Whose idea was this?”

“Speedy's” Laurel said. Thea rolled her eyes a bit at the nickname but couldn’t help the proud smile from spreading over her face.

“You should join us for a couple more pranks. The night isn’t over yet.” Laurel said.

“Mischief Night!” Tommy yelled again.

“Who put shaving cream on the windshield and all the windows of the car?” Walter asked as he walked back into the Queen mansion.

“What?” Moira asked, confused.

“The car’s windows are covered in shaving cream. The driver can’t see anything.”

“Must be a Mischief Night Prank.” Oliver replied.

“How would someone have gotten through all our security?”

“I don’t know.”

Walter sighed and went up to his room. “Who flipped everything in here upside down?!”

“What happened?” Moira called.

“Someone flipped literally everything in this room upside down.”

Moira looked at Oliver who smirked a bit before shrugging and walking away. She couldn’t help but smile at her son looking genuinely happy.

“Alright! Enough!” Walter yelled. Thea, Oliver, Tommy, and Laurel were all waiting for this. They couldn’t hide their laughter as he walked into the living room drenched with water. “What did you do to the pipes?”

“Mischief Night.” Thea said with a shrug. Walter rolled his eyes.

“That better have been the last prank.” The four just looked at each other and giggled.

Walter yelled again. Oliver had done something to the bathroom to make it smell horrid. He rushed out only to find someone had stolen his towel. He couldn’t leave. “Oliver!” he yelled. The four burst out laughing together. They had also written Mischief Night Rules in red paint on the walls.

“How are you going to get the paint off?” Laurel asked Oliver as they laughed together.

“No idea.” They started laughing harder. Laurel looked at Thea through the corner of her eye and saw the girl laughing so hard she was almost in tears. She looked so happy. So did Oliver. And Tommy. Come to mention it even Laurel was happier than she had been in a long time. They all were.

Moira stepped out of the shower. The smell had gone away. She saw the red paint and shook her head. “These kids.” She walked to the mirror and wiped the steam off of it. “Oliver!” she yelled. Her reflection looked back and her hair was somehow hot pink.

Oliver, Thea, Laurel, and Tommy were all already laughing hysterically but it got worse when Moira walked down and they saw her hair. Thea fell out of her chair and onto the ground from laughing so hard, Tommy was rolling around on the ground, Laurel was doubled over, Oliver sat straight and perfect but he looked so happy Moira couldn’t be mad. Maybe she had pink hair now. But she got something way better. Her family back.
