Ferocious For Her Safety

Summary:

Phryne was extremely protective of Dot.

Work Text:

Phryne was quick to solve mysteries as best as she could, especially if one of her friends was involved. However, even Jack started to realize that she did more than just become more protective whenever Dot was involved, she turned ferocious. Of course, Dot was just a sweet little thing and thus, shouldn’t be involved in the many mysteries Phryne puts herself into, and yet, she never wanted to leave Phryne alone. “Dot!” Phryne needed to see the younger woman safe, not wanting her to be harmed by anyone, especially not by a killer who means to see Phryne taken down a peg.

So, when Dot shrieked due to a murderer grabbing her, of course, Phryne was immediately pulling out her pistol, hating the fear that left her darling’s lips. “Come out,” the murderer seethe, threatening to harm the darling girl they had in their arms. Phryne felt Jack’s hands on her shoulders and just like that, all she saw was red, wanting to attack the person who dared threaten to hurt Dot. “You don’t wish for this girl to be harmed, do you?” The murderer was baiting her and even though Phryne knew she shouldn’t fall for it, it was a different story when it came to Dot.

The lady detective turned to Jack, who stared back at her. The man already knew what was going to be waiting for him when the woman started running toward Dot’s screams and honestly, he couldn’t and didn’t blame her. It was clear Phryne cared for Dot so very much if she was willing to just run toward the danger. Jack didn’t blame Phryne for wanting to protect her lover. No matter how secretive the two were, he often caught the two in their softest moments, grateful that they didn’t mind him knowing. Jack was only running after Phryne, knowing she was going to make sure that Dot was safe from harm.

The man only wanted to make sure Phryne didn’t kill anyone she doesn’t have to and by the time he arrived, he knew the woman was on her last leg, her eyes boring into the murderer, who was still holding Dot against their chest. If Jack didn’t value his life as much as he did, he would have made a small crack at how protective Phryne was acting and he held his tongue, understanding why she was angry after all.
