Chapter Text

For a stormy day, things had been going okay. Akali didn't like storms. She wasn't exactly scared of them...but she definitely didn't like them. It was easy to forget about though, with her friends and all the excitement of the day to distract her.

Talking to Jinx and...trying to be friendly with her had been fun, and distracting. And she really thought it was going well. Sure she was looking for clues that her and Lux could be together, which she was still kind of debating, but she was mostly just trying to be her friend right now.

Yes, she had reservations about Jinx, and so did...every single one of her friends, but she wasn't so bad, and Akali was starting to feel worse about how everyone was treating her. And if Lux could be friends with her, there's no reason she shouldn't be able to.

She'd gotten the idea for playing games together, which seemed to make every thing work out for everything she wanted to accomplish. She'd get to spend time with her friends, observe Lux and Jinx, while spending time with them, and them spending more friendly time with each other. Of course she wouldn't be observing them alone. She'd be sitting next to Evelynn.

At first they'd tried to make out what Lux and Jinx were whispering about, but failed to and instead started making things up. Much more ridiculous and graphic things, which they started laughing at, and caught Lux's attention.

After that they tried to calm themselves as the game was selected, and unfortunately, Akali was made seeker.

With a good sip of the vodka Kai'sa had graciously donated to the night, Akali set out to seek and thus, found herself in her current situation.

Terrified.

She didn't know what to do. She didn't understand either. She wanted to argue back in that closet, make some sort of point, but her throat seemed to shut with fear. Lux's threats weren't weak. Her friends? She wasn't so worried about them...it would work out, eventually, not without damage, but eventually. But not her family. They weren't the kind to accept things in time.

Her mouth would stay shut, she had to keep her word. Even to Evelynn, who she did so desperately wish to tell. It would get her to stop investigating them, and she'd probably just leave it be if she found out. Curiosity and wanting to prove Lux had lied was not enough reason to continue on with their fun. And Lux had lied, which was seeming to be a pattern, a disturbing one, along with the behaviour she'd displayed twice now.

She was their friend. She should know they wouldn't just out her or anything. Akali, at least wouldn't.

And yet her very first thought was to treat her as an enemy. Someone that had to be threatened so harshly.

It probably didn't help that she'd tried to get away from them, but the second she opened that door she'd suddenly felt like some sort of prey, and her first instinct was to run.

And then after that Jinx chased her down like it was a second nature to her. Or first.

When she finished her job of seeking, which seemed to go by in a flash with her mind swimming with thoughts as the fear sobered it, she returned back to the lounge along with most people, though some wanted to go back to their rooms or break off into their own groups.

Lux had found Senna, and stuck near her as they returned to the lounge, but her eyes never seemed to leave the back of Akali's head.

Jinx was no where to be seen. Likely back in her room, or in the vents planning her next attack. Or, realistically, in Akalis room laying some sort of trap. Or climbing under her bed so she could slit her achilles whenever she returned.

No. There wasn't anything to worry about as long as she did as they said. She just had to keep her mouth shut and act as though nothing had happened.

Acting like everything was normal was going to be hard. Especially around Evelynn. She knew Akali, better than anyone, either way she had a knack for reading people. Akali wasn't even a good liar to begin with.

It was going to be obvious she was lying and she'd just be getting herself in more trouble. She'd be better off just telling Eve she couldn't tell her something so that she wouldn't have to lie. Evelynn would understand, if Akali made it clear enough that she really couldn't tell her. It wouldn't come between their..friendship.

When she took her seat next to Evelynn on the huge pouffe, she could feel already that she was stiff, and she knew that Evelynn too would notice this. Still, she got as comfortable as she could, with worries swarming her mind and with Lux's eyes drilling into the side of her head.

Evelynn's arm naturally snaked around her waist, which offered at least some real comfort.

"What's wrong?" Evelynn asked, leaning close to her ear. Her immediately pointing out the obvious actually made Akali relax a little.

Thunder rumbled in the distance outside and Akali sighed.

"It's...got to do with Lux. But I cant...really tell you?" She said sheepishly, carefully watching Evelynn's expression for any hint of anger. Which of course, would not come.

"And why not?"

Telling her that Lux had threatened her didn't sound like a good idea. It would be hard to talk her out of trying to take matters into her own hands.

"It's probably best I don't tell you that either...I promise I'd tell you if I could but...I can't." Akali peeked over at Lux, who had temporarily taken her eyes off of her, in favour of Senna who she seemed to be deep in conversation with.

"She didn't do this did she?" Evelynn asked poking her chin, which she hadn't even realised was sore.

"Huh? No, no of course not. I fell."

"You fell?"

"I was running?"

Evelynn seemed skeptical but nodded, tightening her arm around Akali.

"You know if you need me Rogue..." Evelynn started, not needing to finish.

Evelynn may not be a princess, but she had her ways, her money, and many, many connections. That was power enough. It could be frightening, but fighting against Lux wouldn't do anyone any good. Chaos like that was the last thing they needed.

"It'll be fine...just don't say anything to her?"

"Fine...would you like another drink?"

Akali quickly nodded.

"Please."

She sipped on two cheap beers for the next two hours. Cuddled close to Evelynn as if she were a shield from Lux's gaze, which only persisted as the afternoon dragged on. As did the storm.

She only took a couple glances back. She knew she should say something more to her, but wanted to wait until Lux left. Which was taking a while, but she could wait. Getting a little drunk all wrapped up with Evelynn wasn't anything to complain about.

She had noticed Lux wasn't drinking. Even with Jinx gone and only really paying attention Senna, who was on her third drink herself. Senna kept on, and Lux listened, only responding every now and even less so actually looking at her to speak in full sentences.

Evelynn caught on to the constant stare as well, and was put off by it, but Akali told her not to stare back.

Lux was making things harder. Akali just wanted things to be solved. Quickly. Before Evelynn got fed up enough to do something about it.

She continued to wait. She wasn't sure how long it would take for Lux to finally go back to her room, or at least go anywhere else.

Her conversations with Ahri and Kai'sa lacked, but Evelynn took over. She was glad for the distraction her friends provided. They seemed to assume Akali was more than a little drunk and that's why she was behaving the way she was. That was fine.

It was extremely off putting when Ahri tried talking to Lux, and she responded as she always did, bright smile and all. Akali didn't know how she did that. If it was always so fake or if it was only now.

 She tried to ignore it.

Taliyah had come over to talk to them for a little, but grabbed a drink and left before to long. Akali didn't speak to her, only meekly glancing back at Lux as her glare never wavered.

She didn't need to for much longer. As the sky grew darker as the sun began to lower in the sky, Lux finally got up. After so long of waiting. She said goodbye to Senna, who hardly acknowledged her departure, half asleep and drooling on a pillow, and then to the rest of the room, Akali and friends included, as if nothing was wrong.

Once everyone had said goodbye and she had done the same, smiling along and saying what she had to, she left the room. Akali only waited a few seconds before wiggling out of Evelynn's comfortable embrace and off of the pouffe, scrambling to her feet, which proved a little difficult after being down for so long.

"I uh, forgot to ask her something." She told her friends, taking a longer glance at Evelynn, who would be worried of her real reason. Her expression was disapproving, but she nodded anyways.

"Don't take too long, I'll be cold."

Akali smiled and nodded back.

Kai'sa was quick to teasingly offer to sit on Evelynn's lap in her place, but Eve reminded her Akali would be back soon, and that Kai'sa would get her turn some other time.

She turned for the door, quickly as she could so no one would try to ask her where she was going or try to start talking to her. Pushing it open, she saw Lux right down the hall just near the stairs, already having noticed the lounge door suddenly having swung open.

 "Hey wait!" Akali shouted out.

She was ignored. Lux kept on, disappearing into the stairwell.

Akali hardly had time to drop her jaw in offence before she took off after her, almost stumbling over her own feet turning the corner once she got the the stairs, which she was quick to run up. She wouldn't let Lux get away, she had to at least get a few words in, even if Lux didn't wish to hear it.

As soon as she reached the third floor she found Lux stood waiting for her, not having moved further than a step past the threshold of the stairwell. She continued to wear her glare, but now with expectation, waiting for Akali to start talking.

She almost wanted to stall to make her wait as she had.

"You could've waited," Akali frowned, leaning back against the doorway. Lux didn't seem too bothered having made her run after her, only shrugging in response, not even asking what she wanted.

"U-uhm..about before." She continued, straightening her posture, trying to seem confident. She needed Lux to trust her, to believe what she said, and to accomplish that much she needed to at least seem sure of herself.

"Did you say anything to Evelynn?" Lux asked. Of course it was her first worry, she'd been watching them the whole time and had probably realised pretty quick Evelynn's few not so nice glances over towards her.

"No. Just that..we were in a disagreement? She'd catch on if I didn't.." Akali half shrugged, hoping it was a good enough answer. The very slightest relaxation in Lux's shoulders told her it was.

"Okay..thanks, I guess."

Akali smiled, as much as she could will herself too. Lux not being as aggravated as before would make talking a lot easier. She'd be less likely to just nod and go along with whatever she said.

So she stepped forward, closer to Lux, wanting to try and take one of her hands in comfort, but she wasn't sure how this...new side of her would react.

"Lux, you know I'm your friend right? You didn't have to..do all of that. You don't have to worry, about me doing anything. I'm not telling anyone. I wouldn't out you or anything like that, ever."

Lux stepped back from her, guard seeming to be far too high.

"You would have told Evelynn. And she would've told someone. And you know how that goes."

That was something she couldn't argue, it was true. She would've told Evelynn. Lux wouldn't believe it for a second if she said otherwise.

"Yes..but maybe you could've spared the threats and aggression and just asked me not to tell her?"

Lux hesitated for a moment, actually having to think about it like the thought of peacefully approaching the situation in anyway had never crossed her mind.

"That doesn't sound effective." She reasoned.

"Well it would be worth a shot. And it would work, because I'm your friend, and I'd listen to you?"

 Lux scoffed.

"There's no guarantee in that. I had to remind you of what was at stake. For both of us."

Hesitantly, Akali took another step closer before reaching out to take Lux's hand in an act of comfort, but to her surprise, it was quickly pulled back, clear and away from hers.

She looked up at Lux with a pleading expression to just let her do this, but only got confusion in return. More swiftly, she took Lux's hand, in a grip she wouldn't so simply be able to free herself from.

"Just- okay. There is guarantee in our friendship Lux. I promise you."

Lux continued with her confused look, her hands still lightly attempting at tugging away from Akali. She did not yet let go.

"Can you please trust me? Even just with that?"

Stopping her struggling for just a moment to hesitate, Lux nodded, just slightly.

"...I guess."

Akali let go of her hands, which were immediately banished to Lux's pockets, safe from any further grabbing attempts.

Lux's eyes found her chin, likely whatever damage had been done to it, then the floor.

She let out a heavy sigh, then shrugged.

"Sorry, for making Jinx tackle you and stuff. I guess"

Akali lightly smiled. She hadn't actually expected to get an apology. Recognition she'd done something over the top would have been a win enough.

"It's okay. Airs clear now, right?"

Lux sighed again.

"Right." She sounded bored now.

Akali would usually take that as a sign to hug her and run along, but maybe the hug was part she could cut out now.

"Good. Then you should go and...do whatever it is you and Jinx do. My spots gonna get taken if I'm gone too long so..."

 Lux made a face.

"I don't do anything with Jinx. Don't even think about us, got it?"

Akali almost laughed, almost made a comment about how they weren't doing 'anything' in that closet, but realised she was serious.

"Mhm. Got it."

Lux made sure Akali was gone before she dared to go move a foot towards Jinx's door. True friends, as Akali wished to be, or not, she didn't want her knowing about her activities. She wouldn't even want Senna to know when or if she visited Jinx.

Especially not on an occasion such as now, for a much less exciting reason. As the day grew later, the sky began to grow dark, even darker than it already was. And with no lights except for the emergency lights in the halls...it would soon be very dark in the rooms.

Even if Jinx wasn't her girlfriend, she would've at least offered some comfort in her presence, knowing what terrors the dark brought her. It was the decent thing, even if she wasn't exactly great at comforting.

Lux really wasn't sure how much she could do for her, other than be there, but whatever she could do she would. Her phone had little battery, but she was willing to offer up what was left to use her flashlight to provide some light for her, if it would help in any way.

She knocked on her door this time, having learned her lesson. There was no wait, the door partly opening almost immediately as if Jinx had been waiting.

It surprised her, when one of Jinx's pale painted fingers stuck out from the dark, dark of the room, hooking on to the collar of her shirt. She looked down at it, mostly in confusion with furrowed eyebrows, before the door opened a little wider and she was tugged along by said finger.

She let herself be pulled in, seeing no reason not to.

The door was instantly shut behind her, and before she could take in any amount of the situation, think of anything in the slightest, even allow her eyes to adjust to the darkness of the room, she felt Jinx's other hand come to her shoulder, and a pair of lips against hers.

Lux froze, taken by complete surprise.

Why was Jinx kissing her? So suddenly, at least. It was to be expected, eventually, but...previously it had seemed to be something to be shy about. Maybe now that they were girlfriends and all, that had just suddenly vanished?

Lux had to force herself not to just sink into it and let go of her rationality.

It was off. She just needed a second to think. And Jinx seemed a kind of sloppy that didn't just come with inexperience.

Just as she almost let go, maybe just for a second despite her skepticism, she caught the whiff of an unmistakable scent she had suddenly been searching for.

She wedged her hands onto Jinx's shoulders and pushed her back, just enough to keep her at arms length, allowing herself to keep her hands firmly on the shorter girls shoulders.

"Who gave you alcohol?" She asked, taking a deep breath in as she began to try to properly take in her surroundings, her eyes adjusting to the low amount of light.

"My good friend-" Jinx cut herself off and turned around to look at the wall, just to start laughing.

Lux glanced back into the dark to see nothing. She did see, however, an empty red solo cup, like the ones they'd had in the lounge. Only one, which was strange for the state Jinx seemed to be in.

"Hehehe...sorry, they're never like this. It's great. I didn't think-"

She hiccuped

"Alcohol could do this." Jinx finished, wiggling herself free from Lux's hold and stepping towards her again, this time, hugging her. Lux wasnt sure it could do all of this either. Her hug quickly turned less so, and more of her slumped against her for support.

"Are you alright?" Lux asked, trying to keep her standing as best she could as Jinx seemed to rag doll in her arms. It was now she noticed she was in a t-shirt, which was also strange.

"I'm great. Jus' dizzy...and hot."

Lux sighed and tugged her up, securing her arms under Jinx's, trying her best to drag her closer to the bed, having no assistance from the later as she limply let herself be dragged.

"You need to lay down. Who gave you that drink? Why would you even drink? I thought you didn't like beer." Lux questioned as she draped Jinx's body over the bed. Her arms reached up to loop around Lux's neck, likely in an attempt to pull her down along side her, bur Lux was quick to dodge, earning a groan in complaint.

"I didn't want to deal with the dark. And now it's like...awesome! They're like, kind of friendly right?" Jinx had a dopey smile as one of her hands waved around in the air, completely aimlessly.

She was drunk. Overheated, dizzy, overly physical, in a dark room, which would otherwise cause her to have a panic attack, and of course seeing things. And now, apparently, these things were friendly. Last time, she'd been so blinded by terror and panic by these things she'd punched Lux in the face. A fantastic time that was.

It couldn't have been Ezreal who put her in this situation though. Not this time. He was firmly locked out of the girls dorm along with everyone who didn't reside here.

And it certainly wasn't just a drink Jinx had been given. One cup of beer didn't do this. She'd seen Jinx after a cup of beer and all she did was cry. This was nothing similar.

"Have you got any water?" Lux asked, grabbing the waggling hand and softly gripping it, trying to calm her just a little.

"Mmhm." Jinx hummed nodded towards the desk, where a half empty plastic bottle of water sat. It looked who knows how old. Lux would leave to go get fresh water, but she wasn't sure how she felt about leaving the room at the moment.

Releasing her hand, Lux stepped back, almost tripping over a pile of laundry she hadn't seen in the low light. Lighting flashed outside, shining through the curtains, which had been shut, and helped her to see her way to the bottle.

She took it, glanced back at Jinx who was mumbling, and then walked to the window to open the blinds and let whatever light she could in. The dark, even if it wasn't necessarily bothering her at the moment, couldn't be good.

As soon as the shade rose and the little light that could be let in was let in, Jinx's discontent was made clear.

"Luxxxx! Put it back!" She whined, merely looking in the direction and making no efforts to sit up or move.

Lux pulled her phone from her pocket with her free hand, turning on her flashlight as bright as it would go and setting it on the nightstand to illuminate the room. It worked quite well, and earned a groan from Jinx, who then rubbed her eyes as if in pain.

"Does your head hurt?" Lux asked, sitting on the bed next to where the shorter girl lay, unscrewing the lid of the plastic bottle with haste.

"Mmmh. Turn the light off, they were funny! And it's hurting my head." Jinx complained, un-pinching her nose to look around, seemingly for whatever she has been seeing before.

"Sit up," Lux told her, sliding a hand beneath her back and assisting her up, which was much harder than it should've been since Jinx didn't seem to want to listen.

"Drink this." She gave her the bottle once she was upright, leaning against her for support. Lux wrapped the hand she'd helped her up with around her shoulder to her arm to continue to hold her up, and maybe a little closer.

Jinx took the water, and although wobbly, drank it all down in one swig, tossing the plastic across the room once empty, much to Lux's discontent. She'd make her pick it up when she was better.

She used her own sleeve to dry Jinx's mouth, seeing as she wasn't going to do it herself.

"Are you going to tell me who gave you that beer?" She asked again.

Jinx nuzzled closer into her neck and groaned a little in discontent.

"It was just Taliyah. She said that it would make me feel better. And it did! I felt great! But now I don't feel so good. I feel..really woozy."

Lux frowned and tightened her arm around Jinx.

Taliyah? Why would she talk Jinx into drinking? Especially if she knew it were drugged with god knows what. She wouldn't have purposefully spiked it, would she have? Of course not. It wasn't in her nature, and Jinx was her friend, Taliyah wouldn't do that. Maybe someone put it in there, and then she unknowingly offered the drink to Jinx. Or something like that.

Still, she had to have talked Jinx into drinking, which as her friend she should know well she doesn't like to do.

"Did she know you were afraid of the dark?"

Jinx shook her head hard, hitting Lux's jaw, which hurt a bit.

"Nuh uh, I just told her I wassssnt a fan of the dark. And that it made 'm nervous. And she was like 'awh well, dude this'll help' and I was like 'for real?' And she was like 'for real' and I was like 'awesome' so then I DRANK it." Jinx told her, taking Lux's other hand and fiddling with it. Lux watched her.

Surely Taliyah hadn't meant any harm. But Lux couldn't ask her. She couldn't expose that her and Jinx were so close. If she went to Taliyah with such accusations, that she had talked her into drinking or even drugged her, for who knows what reason, Taliyah would know that Lux had gone to her this night, and been with her long enough to put it together that she'd been the one to give the drink to her. And be upset enough about it to go to her.

But there was a chance Taliyah had drugged her, and since there was, Lux really was tempted to seek her out and question her. Why would she do that? What reason was there to put such strain on Jinx and leave her in room to lose her mind?

Lux sighed and butted her head against Jinx's. The poor girls suffering seemed to have no end, and no one ever lifted a finger to make it better.

"You should lay down and rest." Lux advised, rubbing Jinx's shoulder, eliciting a tired groan.

"You're staying here." Jinx demanded, the hand that held hers switched to grip the collar of her shirt.

Lux took a sorrowful glance at herself, still dressed in her day clothes, not having showered, removed her makeup, or done her skin care, but nodded with a sigh.

"I am, don't worry."

She manages to manoeuvre the sheets back, which proved a challenge since now Jinx didn't want to get up at all. Once she had it far enough, she helped Jinx  lay down properly, making sure she lay on her side in case she puked. Before Lux could even take her place next to her, it seemed Jinx had passed out, whatever it was in her system finally wearing her out.

Hopefully, with good sleep, she would feel better.

Lux kept herself propped up on her elbow for a few minutes to observe her, make sure she wasn't going to start throwing up or seizing or something, and also just to look at her. She still had small traces of sweat on her forehead, and her cheeks seemed flushed, and when Lux hugged an arm around Jinx's, it seemed to burn.

Her face did not seem to be at peace, her eyebrows creased and seeming to squint every now and then. Lux wished there were a way to stop whatever plagued her sleep, but she wasn't sure what all she could do at the moment.

So she just lay back, the arm draped around Jinx coming slightly back to trace over the scars and outline the tattoos on her arm as she cuddled into her girlfriends back. With a sigh she kissed the back of her head.

In an hour or so, she'd get herself up to get her water. And in the morning, after she made sure Jinx was okay...she had to figure out what to do. How to approach Taliyah without approaching Taliyah.

Things would be set right. And she's make sure everything was as it should be. Taliyah would have some explanation, one of reason. Jinx would feel somewhat better, and they could do whatever Jinx felt like for the day, assuming they had off.

Hopefully the power would come back eventually and all this madness would end. Though, she was enjoying not checking her texts with the excuse of no battery.

For a while, she let herself doze off, head buried into the back of Jinx's, while her thumb would lightly brush over her arm, listening to her steady breathing. The storm outside seemed near its end, calming to a light rain before Lux did fall asleep.

Dreamless, and not very restful sleep. Her mind wouldn't allow her to stay asleep for long periods, mostly to check on Jinx, and she did get up one of those times to go and get fresh water from the vending machine. She would've gotten tap, but the bottled stuff tasted better.

She didn't wake Jinx though, she seemed to be peacefully asleep, her breathing easy, drooling on her side of the pillow, and already taking up more space with Lux having gotten up. It put Lux at some ease to see her like this. The water was abandoned on the night stand till morning.

When Lux got up next, it had to be late into the morning. Light shone through the window, enough to indicate the storm had long since past. Jinx was still completely knocked out, curled up against her as she had been.

As much as Lux wished to enjoy the comfort of laying next to her, maybe attempt to re-braid her hair, a want that had so suddenly occurred, she first wanted to freshen up, and then wake Jinx up and make sure she was lucid.

Not wanting to take too much time, she skipped her usual morning shower, only washing her face in the sink before brushing her teeth and quickly fixing her hair. She'd skip running too, which she'd usually do because she was both required to and because she liked to. It was also far too wet outside for that.

She shook the water off her hands into the sink, simply wiping her hands on her clothes to dry them. She should change before going back as well. Wearing day old clothes was not a good look, and it was plain gross.

Just as she was leaving though, Taliyah walked in. She glanced at Lux, but otherwise seemed to mind her business, scooting right past her.

"Taliyah." Lux couldn't stop herself. She had to have some sort of sign to know whether or not Taliyah knowingly gave Jinx that spiked drink. There was no way she could just..not confront her in anyway. Not after how she'd seen Jinx last night.

Taliyah turned back to look at her, confusion, and maybe a little hope in her eyes. But she didn't say anything yet.

"I didn't see you yesterday." Lux said, carefully. She didn't want to say anything that might be too suspicious. Just enough to give her a sign.

Taliyah managed a small, confused smiled

"I mostly kept to myself. I popped in the lounge a few times, but I think you were too busy glaring at Akali to notice."

"Ah...yeah." Lux honestly tried to keep Taliyah as out of sight out of mind as often as possible. She couldn't exactly see her with feeling at least a little guilty. Or more than a little. But she'd really just been too busy watching Akali this time to notice anything else.

"I would've said hi if I had known you cared."

Lux wanted to be friendly, somehow act as though nothing had happened between them in the past two or so years. Or at least try at making things better, so they could go back to that. But she also wanted to come out and ask 'you didn't drug my girlfriend did you?'. Neither of those things she could do.

"You know I care about you." Lux nearly whispered, despite wishing to have said it a little more confidently.

"You sure show it." Taliyah said, very sarcastically, still with somewhat of a smile.

Lux swallowed and nervously placed her hands in her pockets, not knowing what else to do with them.

"...yeah."

Taliyah didn't seem to be acting suspicious. Or guilty. Lux was probably doing more of that. She'd observed as much as she could bare.

She took a step back, shoulders raising a little more as she blew a breath out.

"Uhm...I'll see you around."

Taliyah only gave a wave in response as Lux turned around and left the bathroom, very quickly. That would still remain a problem for another day. But for now...nothing seemed off. Not immediately. She wasn't in the clear yet. Lux needed Jinx's thoughts first.

Before going back to Jinx's room, she stopped back at hers to change, partially to be sure Taliyah wouldn't catch her sneaking back into Jinx's. She hoped Taliyah wasn't observant enough to notice she hadn't changed her clothes, which was so very out of the ordinary for her.

Once switching into something more comfortable for a day of just lounging around, a t-shirt and some sport shorts, and feeding Bishop a little extra since she’d neglected him the night before, she went back to Jinx's room, of course after checking to be sure the hall was clear. She didn't want any more interactions, or possible witnesses.

Jinx was still asleep, now taking up her entire bed, an arm dangling off the side, and the sheets fully pushed away onto the floor. It really was to bad she had to wake her, she looked...comfortable, but like her neck was really going to hurt if she kept sleeping like that.

Lux sighed, collecting the sheet from the floor and tossing it back into the bed before turning back to Jinx, placing a hand on her arm and gently shaking her, usually she wouldn't care to be gentle, but considering her state the previous night, she wanted to be careful.

Jinx shifted, groaning and scrunching her face up, pulling her limbs in and curling up.

"Jinx, you have to get up. Just for a little bit, if you're really miserable, or whatever." Lux said, continuing her nudging until Jinx swatted her hand away, then in a great effort was hardly able to pull herself to sit up, her eyes still shut and hair still standing up.

Lux reached out and flattened some of her hair, most of it poking right back out. Jinx didn't budge, eyes still shut almost like she fell back asleep while sitting up.

"How do you..feel?" Lux asked, not yet completely accustomed to asking such things. Not so genuinely at least.

"Mmmh."

Lux frowned at the lack of response, giving up with her hair, which she noticed was still in need of being dyed again, the brown roots growing out to be more obvious. She turned her attention to the water she'd gotten the night before, grabbing it and unscrewing the cap.

"Here. Drink a lot." She told her, putting the bottle in her hand.

Finally opening her eyes, Jinx groaned in annoyance, but listened to her. She drank almost the whole bottle before discarding it onto the nightstand. It was good enough. Lux would be sure she drank more throughout the day.

"Man my head hurts." Jinx sighed, scratching at her head, making any fixed hair become even more wild than before.

"I'll get you some medicine." She should've thought to before. Of course her head was going to hurt. She keeps Advil in her room for headaches, and she probably had some other painkillers somewhere.

"There's tylenol in my desk..I think."

It took her a some searching through the sea of junk, but she did find the bottle of tylenol.

"Here." She sat on the edge of her bed, giving her first the medication then the water.

"Mmmh." Lux took that as a thanks. Jinx drank the rest of the water down with the medicine, which would hopefully help with her head and any other lasting effects of whatever was in her system last night.

"You look worried." Jinx commented pulling the bottle away from her lips and tossing it aimlessly onto the floor.

"Well..yeah."

Jinx sat back against the wall, her hands tapping against her knees.

"I'm okay, I think."

She hoped she was right. Lux didn't know how much she could believe it though. Her head still hurt, and there still could be lasting effects that were yet to be seen. And of course, the issue of getting to the bottom of things, to ensure this would never happened again.

 "..okay." Lux said weakly.

Jinx tilted her head to the side, watching her with her still sleepy eyes.

"C'mere."

"Huh?"

She pointed next to her rather than repeating herself. Lux wasn't sure why she was still reluctant, but she hesitantly moved closer, sitting next to Jinx so their arms would bump. Maybe she was still worried she wasn't in her right mind, like when she'd kissed her last night. Although brief.

That aside...casual closeness still made her slightly nervous, obviously not in a bad way.

"Don't worry alright?" Jinx told her, making sure they were sitting as close as possible, sides pressed together.

"What about Taliyah?" Lux asked, staring down at her legs out of nerves. She's not sure what Jinx remembers, and if she does, if she even wants to bring it up already. But Lux figures it would be best to sort things out sooner.

She hears Jinx shuffle a little, then feels her head rest on her shoulder.

"Do you think she...put stuff in that drink?" Jinx asks, her own nervousness seeping through.

"I don't know. I ran into her this morning and she acted as normal as she would." Lux didn't know Taliyah to be cruel, and she didn't see any reason why she would do anything like this. But she just couldn't shake the feeling that there was a chance.

"...it had to have been some sort of accident, or something. I mean, she's totally cool right?"

"As long as I've known her." A long time. Yet Lux still didn't feel confident, and Jinx's tone told her she didn't either.

"I'll talk to her, I'm sure it wasn't anything."

Lux silently nodded. She wanted to ask about how Taliyah even persuaded her to drink it in the first place, but she had a feeling Jinx was already thinking enough about that. Because it was weird that Taliyah would make her drink something she didn't like to drink. However it went down, Jinx would tell her, if she really must know.

"I talked to Akali."

Jinx slouched back into her more, tilting her head back against her neck as she groaned. Lux ignored how her breath traveled along her cheek.

"Ugh, what'd you do?"

She rolled her eyes.

"Nothing bad, actually. I think we're friends." Maybe, in an actual way. She still wasn't very fond of her, but there may be room to be.

"Woah, how'd you do that?"

"Akali was persistent...and made me apologise, and I guess I was a little harsh. So now we're friends. Actually. Kind of." She shrugged.

"Huh. Well, that's good. I'll go say sorry for jumping on her n' stuff too, whenever I see her."

Lux nodded. It'd be good to actually have a mutual friend. Other than Senna, who constantly teased her. She'd being doing even more of that now, since she'd spilt the beans last night. Akali was..nice. And she wouldn't say anything about them, if she knew what was good for her.

Whatever. This was a good thing. She was glad of it.

She sighed, and glanced down at the top of Jinx's head. Would it be appropriate to kiss her right now? She wanted to. And to offer some comfort maybe.

Not too quickly, she tilted her head down and pressed a kiss into the top of her head. She didn't linger for more than a second, her nerves still getting the best of her.

Before she could even straighten her head back up, where she planned to stare blankly at the wall and think of how to change the subject, Jinx seemed to press closer, nudging her head towards her.

Although she wasn't too sure of herself, or what Jinx was thinking, Lux took it as a sign to do it again. So she did, letting her lips linger just a little bit against her hair now that she had some reassurance. It only earned her a dissatisfied sort of hum.

Lux was about to ask, she wasn't sure exactly what, but again Jinx seemed to speak with her movements, tilting her head up just slightly.

This time, Lux kissed her closer to the side of her forehead. Jinx made another sound in discontent, leaning slightly more back, encouraging Lux to do more.

She wasn't sure what more was, but whatever it was she wanted.

Next to her eye, her cheek, and then...next should be her lips. Lux hadn't really kissed her properly yet. Considering how every other time had gone, it made her even more nervous.

She let her hand come up to cup Jinx's cheek, and slightly turn her head towards her to get a better angle. To her surprise, she didn't even need to lean down at all. Jinx beat her to it, stretching up to place her lips against hers.

Jinx almost immediately shifted, climbing over her and smiling against her lips, making Lux want to roll her eyes. She could tell she was trying not to smile, and was maybe even holding back giggling. A hand pushed back against her shoulder, and another wrapped around the back of her neck, tangling itself in her hair that she had only just brushed.

Lux was surprised by how confident she was, but found herself really enjoying it. Although Jinx wasn't very experienced at kissing, and subsequently not great at it, yet, it was still everything she could want. And still, she needed chapstick.

Parting her lips just a little further, Lux gave further access to her mouth, wanting to see what Jinx would do. She took the opportunity, turning the kiss much sloppier in an instant. As much as she wished she could've stopped herself, a small noise found its way out of her throat.

 Jinx smiled at her reaction.

With burning cheeks Lux pulled back as much as the little space she had would allow, and seeing as that wasn't much, she opted for pushing Jinx back by her shoulders. Jinx let herself be pushed back and frowned.

"Okay. Go brush your teeth." Lux told her, wiping her mouth, mostly just wanting to cover her face.   Although Jinx should brush her teeth, that wasn't the problem. Lux just got too flustered, and Jinx knew it.

Jinx sight up right on her lap, observing her for a moment before smirking as she watched her useless attempt at covering her red face.

"Stop it." Lux told her, wiping her hands over her face as if it would help get rid of the heat.

With her hands on either of Lux's shoulders, Jinx leaned back a little, still watching her face much more closely than Lux wished.

"That was cool."

"...go brush you teeth." She repeated.

Jinx quickly leaned forward again, pressing one quick kiss against her lips, before rolling off of her onto the floor with a thump. Lux sighed.

Notes:

Woah...is this...what they call....a chapter?

I am very sorry for the wait. A lot came up, on top of health stuff. Artfight for a month had me doing nothing but drawing, and a lot of other things had come up.

And of course arcane s2???? Omg??? It’s making me want to write so fast so I can be ready to write after it releases. Because I know it’s going to destroy us all and we’re gonna need some healing fic.

Anyways, I’m sorry for how long it took ><. I hope you all enjoyed the ominous chapter, and the proper kiss (yay!).
