The pitter-patter of scarlet rain was beginning to slow. The dark mist had been brief but satisfactory as silence soon blanketed the docks. It too lasted only a moment before a drip stemming from a long dark fingertip fell down to ripple amongst the puddles of red. There was a chill that settled in the air as the clouds pulled back their curtains, moonlight like the spotlight on the wooden theatre to showcase its leading role.
Blood was stained everywhere. Strewn about the sea docks like careless paint were splashes of deep burgundy and coagulated black. Body parts were ripped and torn to shreds laying like caught fish after a successful catch. Even the sea had paused in its song while the culprit looked down at it all with only ruthless disdain.
“Sanji-kun?” A voice whispered letting the world resume its song. Another ripple of plasma was plucked by gravity off an elongated nail while the body being called slowly turned its head similar to a ballerina dancing upon its music box. There was nothing behind those eyes. Black as the void and cold framed by pale cheeks, too sharp and pronounced with eyes that seemed to look beyond the docks and the voice calling for it.
“Sanji-kun.” The soft voice called again with no fear towards the statuesque demon. This monster before was hardly a threat to the call despite the terror it had rendered not a moment ago. The poor victims were ravaged like cattle to the slaughter with only this thing left standing. Carnage at its most depraved. This lingering air of dread pulsed through the air as if replacing the breath this silhouette wasn’t making.
The air simmered down to a gentle mist then all conveniently just as the voice faded out just as a nimble calico cat hopped up upon a lonesome barrel. Her ears flicked forward as her slim tail wrapped around white bootied paws looking all the while as if she was sitting upon a wooden throne.
Sanji, who obviously was being called, stepped forward into a moonbeam with fangs jutting down his chin. Bloody gore like a faucet dribbled down the daggers staining his face and mouth that was bared like a feral dog. It matched the claws that flexed beside him. Nails that had just torn asunder and fangs to match only curled up in a snarl. A horror walking.
“I’m fine,” The female voice said just as the cat rolled her eyes while the monster stalked forward. The squelch of viscera echoed as dress shoes - coated in carnage - stomped toward whoever was speaking. There was more blood around its feet and pant legs than hands, but the rain from before soaked his hair and clothes in a royal cape of red.
“I just bought you that shirt, and look at it now,” The cat’s ears flicked in annoyance. The little feline sighed exasperatedly while on the opposite there was no panting or breath coming from the vampire. No presence of life except this hunger behind those black glass orbs. Strains of black veins marred the moon-touched skin. Sharp angles that could cut a mere mortal with sharper ears turning forward listening for more prey.
However, the image of the cat made the vampire stumble to a halt. The flesh-lusting revenant seemingly froze to the docks at the mere appearance of the little calico who in turn rose on all fours and stretched lazily. The shadowed villain took a step back watching as the cat leaped off the barrel and strutted forward. He didn’t move. Only stared down as the calico walked closer before shifting into a woman. Those same speckled ears rested atop her brilliant orange hair while the slim matching tail waved lazily back and forth all touched by a shining and dazzling smirk.
“Done now?” Nami asked with hands on her hips looking up at the devil before her. There was no mistaking the thing standing before her as anything but a terror. A mouth filled with too many teeth as sharp as razors that matched the flexing black claws shaking against his side. The usual golden spun hair sat limply down his shoulders speckled and stained red. Tips of his fringe matted to his face with it soaked so thoroughly. A low, threatening hiss reverberated from something deep within that empty cavity. What humans called a terror-in-the-night stood imposing over this bored girl. He never blinked as he stared down at the shape-shifting woman.
“My stupid boy,” Nami grinned despite the walking nightmare before her. She stepped close noticing the jerk in his shoulders, but continued forward nonetheless. With practiced ease, like she had done this time and again, Nami threaded her fingers through blood-soaked hair; adjusting the fringe so it laid properly back.
She tsk’d softly. “What am I going to do with you?” She asked not expecting an answer when matching hands, hands meant for rendering down flesh - Hands meant to tend to freshly baked breads and life-giving food - reached up and grasped her waist. Hardly worried about herself when those daggers wrapped around and clutched her clothing. Nami could only hum expectantly when one found her shoulder and then slid along her neck.
She waited looking into those endless eyes. She watched as the creature leaned forward and pressed its forehead along her own. Her lips tingled in a grin while tilting her head back to place a chaste kiss on his forehead. The monster only lowered his own to caress her pale perfect neck with dangerous fangs. Nami just sighed exasperated with those feral lips touched her pulse. Not a care in the world while wrapping her arms around Sanji’s shoulders feeling the danger beneath.
“Nami-san,” He growled. A guttural sound came out slurred as if unable to form the precious name with too many teeth in his mouth, but she knew what he meant. Especially while a perilous kiss from ivory peppered its way up to her cheek.
“Yes, yes Sanji-kun,” She pursued her lips dropping her voice to mimic his own, “‘‘Look at me. I’m such a monster. Huff huff’,” Nami rolled her eyes, “Can it, you dummy.” She said poking his nose with her lips, “You’re a terrible mess. At least you have a sense of hygiene for when we get back.”
It was like a thread snapped and the monster surged forward. His lips captured her own, pulling her completely flush against his body. His arms caged her against himself while his mouth swallowed her breath. Nami moaned into this kiss. Her own arms hugged the vampire just as tight letting him drink his fill of her devotion and her his passion.
The vampire kissed his sunbeam. Her orange hair got caught in his nails but even she couldn’t care while he was drowning himself in her fire. His weakness - a cat, light, beauty - all encompassed in the woman in his arms he never would let go of. All this Nami knew reciprocating the passion with her cold monster. Knowing no matter how passionate he would never harm her. Knowing without a single doubt his hunger for her was for her soul and not her blood.
“Better now?” Nami said a little breathlessly after a moment when she needed to pull away. Even if he could kiss her for a lifetime, she still had to breathe. Something she was sure he forgot from time to time. Her eyes glowed in mirth as the vampire nodded shyly and a familiar laugh ghosted out against her cheek. Nami herself huffed a laugh of her own thinking he would call it true love’s kiss like the romantic he was.
“Yes, my Goddess. My sincerest apolo-” The apology cut short as the woman bonked him on the head with her fist. Instead of inky blackness two sapphires shined in a pout at her. Red rimmed if you knew where to look, but those endless blues had returned to shine on their own underneath properly curled eyebrows.
“Save it. You can make it up to me later,” Nami winked while lifting up a stolen wallet no doubt from the previous attacker that had been taken care of. Where she kept it when she shifted nobody knew.
“Of course! Whatever you want, love,” Sanji grinned straightening up looking right as rain despite still being covered in gore. His demonic claws clasped against his chest while his fangs made the boyish smile look out of place. Even still, while looking like an angel of death, Nami couldn’t help but snort at the change.
“I know,” Nami flicked her hair over her shoulder with calico ears flicking in amusement. She turned on her heel ready to leave, “In which case let’s get going before someone sees this mess. And,” Nami looked the disheveled vampire up and down and winked snapping her fingers, “There. At least until we get home. I’d rather not have the town run us off before we’re done. God knows Luffy will on his own,” She sighed as the now glamoured vampire skipped to her side and beamed a fangless smile at her. The visage of her monster being packed away in a more human-like disguise - hardly perfect but less terror-inducing to allow him to walk the streets.
“But of course, my dear! As always you think of everything!” He chirped offering his arm to her. As much as Sanji protested he was nothing like a certain feral green-furred dog they knew Nami couldn’t help to always compare her vampire to a puppy. Animated and ready to follow her wherever she wanted and if he had a tail Nami knew for sure it would be wagging endlessly.
“Yes, yes, Sanji-kun. C’mon, you said something about tarts and I want some juice,” She said holding her head up high and leading them away from the massacre, and if her own tail wrapped around his leg securely neither mentioned it.
Even while he was now packed way within this disguise Nami couldn’t help but think of her monster riddled with every nightmare humans could conceive. He might have cared about scaring her away, but he was her prince of darkness. And it was her nightmare walking who would usher in both carnage and treats all for her after all.
