Buck had been in love with Eddie since he met him in the fire department. It was impossible not to fall in love with Eddie: he was handsome, kind and had a smile that illuminated the whole room. Buck knew that Eddie also had feelings for him, but for some reason, Eddie refused to accept it.
Buck was content to be Eddie's best friend, although sometimes it was difficult. Eddie treated him as if he were his boyfriend at times, like when he curled up next to him on the couch or hugged him after a difficult mission. But at other times, Eddie treated him as if he were a simple friend. Buck didn't know what to do. He didn't want to lose Eddie, but he didn't want to continue suffering in silence either.
One day, Chimney got tired of seeing Buck being used emotionally by Eddie and decided to intervene. He invited him for a beer and they talked about what was going on.
"Why do you keep letting Eddie treat you like that?" Chimney asked angrily. "It's clear that he's playing with you emotionally. It's not fair to you."
Buck sighed. "I know, but it's Eddie. I can't help but love him."
"I understand, Buck," Chimney said softly. "But if Eddie can't see how amazing you are, then maybe you should let him go. You can't keep waiting for someone who isn't willing to make a decision."
Buck thought about Chimney's words for several days. Finally, he decided that Chimney was right. He had waited long enough and couldn't continue to be Eddie's best friend and at the same time be in love with him. So he decided to talk to Eddie.
At the same time Chimney was still worried seeing that the situation did not change among his friends, so after seeing how Eddie again said something affectionate not typical of the supposed best friends to Buck and saw how the latter's face showed a smile that did not reach his eyes he decided to talk to Eddie about it.
So later, while Eddie was at his job at the fire station, Chimney approached him and began to talk to him seriously. "Eddie, I need to talk to you. I can't keep ignoring how you're treating Buck."
Eddie frowned, surprised by Chimney's attitude. "What are you talking about, Chimney? I don't understand what you mean."
Chimney stood firm. "Don't be a fool of yourself, Eddie. We all know that Buck is in love with you, but you keep playing with his feelings. You're using him emotionally and that's not right."
Eddie felt uncomfortable with the situation, but tried to justify himself. "It's not like that, Chimney. Buck and I are friends and that's all. I'm not hurting him."
Chimney wasn't convinced and kept putting pressure on Eddie. "Don't fool yourself, Eddie. Buck is in love with you and you know it. You are keeping him on hold, giving him false hopes that one day they will be together. That's cruel."
Eddie sighed and scratched the back of his neck. "I don't know, Chimney. I don't know how I feel about Buck. I don't want to lose him as a friend, but I don't want to hurt him either."
Chimney gave him a hard look. "That's not fair, Eddie. Buck deserves something better than waiting indefinitely for you. If you are not sure of your feelings towards him, then you must let him go and stop playing with him emotionally."
Eddie nodded, feeling overwhelmed by Chimney's words. "You're right, Chimney. I've been an idiot with Buck. I'm going to talk to him and clarify my feelings."
Chimney nodded, pleased to have confronted Eddie and made him reflect on his actions. "I'm glad we agree. Buck deserves you to be honest with him and give him a clear answer. No more emotional games."
Eddie nodded and promised to take steps to solve his situation with Buck. He knew it had been unfair to him and that it was time to put things in order.
Buck was tired of being used by Eddie. He knew that Eddie was in love with him, but he continued to play with his feelings and keep him waiting. He wasn't going to tolerate his behavior anymore.
So the next day, Buck met Eddie at the fire station and decided to face him. "Eddie, we need to talk seriously," Buck said in a firm voice. "I've been waiting for you for months, and I can't go on like this. Either you are willing to be with me or you leave me free."
Eddie seemed surprised by Buck's determination, but he finally sighed and said: "I'm sorry, Buck. I've been an idiot with you. I know you've been waiting for me to decide, but I haven't been able to make a decision. I'm afraid of ruining our friendship."
Buck stood firm. "Eddie, it's not just about ruining our friendship. It's about how I feel. It hurts me to be in this situation, and I can't keep allowing you to play with my feelings. Are you or are you not interested in having a relationship with me?"
Eddie seemed embarrassed. "Buck, I know I've been an asshole with you. I really value our friendship, but I also have feelings for you. I've always done it, but I didn't want to ruin things."
Buck wasn't convinced and wanted Eddie to show more regret. "It's not enough, Eddie. I need you to show more regret for how you have treated me. Do you really have feelings for me or are you just saying that because I've confronted you?"
Eddie looked down. "No, I really feel something for you. I like being with you and I don't want to lose you."
Buck took a deep breath and decided to give Eddie a chance. "Good, but I need you to promise me that you won't play with my feelings again. If we want to try, we must be honest and commit to really being together."
Eddie nodded his head. "I promise you, Buck. I won't make you wait any longer. I want to be with you and give my best in a real relationship."
Buck was finally relieved and happy that Eddie was willing to be honest with him and commit to a true relationship. The two embraced and promised to work together to build a solid and lasting relationship.
