Work Text:

Buck and Eddie had been best friends for years, since Eddie's second day of work at the station. However, lately they had begun to feel something more than a friendship for each other. They had shared looks and gestures that spoke for themselves, but none dared to take the first step for fear of ruining the relationship they valued so much.

Meanwhile, at the station, his co-workers noticed that something was not right. Everyone realized the tension between Buck and Eddie, but they didn't know how to help. Sometimes, when they were together in an emergency, it was noticeable that there was something else, but then they returned to their usual behavior as friends.

But the situation became more complicated when another firefighter who was passing through the station tried to flirt with Buck, and then in one of the scenes a girl tried to ask Eddie for his number. Buck and Eddie felt uncomfortable with other people's advances, but they couldn't do anything about it because, technically, they were nothing.

One day, Bobby, the head of the station, decided to intervene. He knew there was something between Buck and Eddie, and he didn't want to see them suffer anymore.

On his next guard at the station, Eddie noticed that Bobby was watching him with a worried look. When they met in the kitchen, Bobby decided to talk to him.

"What's up, Eddie? What’s happening with you lately?" Bobby asked.

"It's nothing important, boss. I'm just going through a confusing phase," Eddie replied.

"I see. Is it something related to Buck?" Bobby asked.

Eddie was stunned. How did Bobby know about his feelings for Buck?

"I'm sorry, Eddie. I didn't want to invade your privacy. But I've noticed a tension between you and Buck lately. And I can't help but think that there's something else there," Bobby explained.

Eddie was surprised by Bobby's understanding. He decided to trust him and tell him about his feelings.

"Yes, cap. You’re right. I've been feeling something for Buck lately, but I'm afraid of ruining our friendship if I confess my feelings to him," Eddie admitted.

Bobby nodded and put a comforting hand on Eddie's shoulder.

"I understand your fear, Eddie. But sometimes, you have to take a risk to get what you really want. And if Buck feels the same as you, then maybe it's worth trying," Bobby advised.

Eddie kept thinking about Bobby's words. He knew he had to do something, but Eddie was still undecided. Bobby, however, knew that Eddie needed a little push to make a decision.

"Listen, Eddie. The last thing I want is for you to hurt yourself or to hurt Buck. But if both of you don't plan to do something about it, the best thing would be for you to let him go. Otherwise, you will always be torturing yourself thinking about what it could have been," Bobby said.

Eddie knew he had to make a decision, but he was still scared. Bobby gave him a hug and assured him that, no matter what happens, he would always be there for him.

After his talk with Bobby, Eddie decided it was time to talk to Buck. They met in the nearby park and began to talk about their feelings.

"Eddie, what's going on?" Buck said.

Eddie took a deep breath before responding. "There's something I have to tell you, Buck. Something I've been feeling for a while."

Buck remained silent, waiting for Eddie to continue.

"You are my best friend, Buck. And, well, I love you more than I should," Eddie confessed.

Buck's eyes widened, surprised by Eddie's words.

"Eddie, I have feelings for you too, but I don't want to ruin our friendship," Buck said.

Eddie nodded, knowing that Buck was right. But he still felt something in his heart, something he couldn't ignore.

"I understand, Buck. But, I can't ignore how I feel. I can't pretend I'm not in love with you," Eddie said.

Buck was silent, trying to process everything Eddie had just told him.

"Eddie, I... I also feel the same as you, but I don't want this to ruin our friendship, I couldn't stand to lose you, or that you get away from me like every person I've dated, I couldn't get over it if you leave," Buck said sadly in his voice.

Eddie sighed, frustrated. "I know, Buck, but what do we do now? Do we just continue as if nothing had happened?"

Buck shrugged, confused. "I don't know, Eddie. All this is new to me."

Eddie felt the uncertainty taking hold of him. What was going to happen now? How were they going to handle this situation?

"I think I need a little time to think about all this," Eddie said, before slowly walking away.

Buck stood there alone, watching Eddie walk away.

Eddie's indecision lasted several days. He was overwhelmed by his feelings and the possibility of losing his best friend if things didn't go well.

Finally, he decided that he had to do something about it. He couldn't continue to feel this tension in his friendship and Eddie had to know if Buck felt the same way.

He approached Buck at the fire station, determined to talk to him. "Buck, I need to talk to you. About us," Eddie said.

Buck nodded, knowing that it was an important conversation.

"You are my best friend, Buck, and I love you, I don't want us to ignore him. I can't keep feeling this tension between us," Eddie said courageously.

Buck was silent for a moment, looking Eddie in the eye. "Eddie, I... I also feel the same way about you," he finally said.

Eddie felt a huge weight rise from his shoulders. He was happy to know that his feelings were mutual.

"But what happens now?" Eddie asked.

Buck smiled. "Now, we can explore what we feel. Take it easy and see where it takes us."

Eddie nodded, relieved that his friendship would not be ruined by his feelings. "Yes, you're right. We can see where this takes us. But, we have to go slowly and carefully so as not to ruin our friendship," Eddie said.

Buck nodded in agreement. "Yes, we have to be careful and respect our friendship. But, we also have to be honest with each other about what we feel."

Eddie smiled. "Yes, that's the most important thing. Be honest with each other."

After that conversation, Eddie and Buck started dating as a couple. But, they kept it a secret for a while, for fear of how their colleagues at the fire station would react.

One day, while they were at a party at the house of one of their co-workers, several of them noticed that Eddie and Buck were acting strangely. They seemed uncomfortable and distant from each other.

After the party, Bobby, his boss, approached Eddie and asked him what was going on. Eddie finally decided to open up and tell Bobby everything.

"Bobby, Buck and I are dating, but we are keeping it a secret because we are afraid of how our co-workers will react. We don't want this to affect our work or our friendship," Eddie said sadly.

Bobby listened attentively, then responded wisely. "Eddie, if you really have feelings for Buck, then you should do something about it. If you don't, you'll always wonder what it could have been. And if Buck feels the same, then it's better for you two to know how you feel about each other, even if it's a risk."

Eddie nodded, understanding what Bobby was saying. He knew he had to face his fears and be honest with Buck about his feelings.

After that conversation with Bobby, Eddie decided it was time to tell Buck how he felt. He approached him at the fire station and spoke to him from the heart.

"Buck, I know we've been dating and we've tried to keep it a secret. But, I can't go on like this. I have to tell you that I love you and that I want to be with you," Eddie said determined.

Buck was surprised, but then he smiled. "Eddie, I love you too. And no matter what others think, I want to be with you."

Eddie and Buck finally decided to go out together in public. And to the surprise of both of them, their co-workers supported them and rejoiced for them.

Since then, Eddie and Buck have been together as a couple. And although they have faced some challenges along the way, they have always been honest with each other and have kept their friendship intact.

Now, Eddie and Buck are more than friends, they are a couple in love who support each other in everything they do. And although at first they were afraid of what could happen if they tried something, they finally realized that love is stronger than fear.
