“I’m the real princess Sofia!” Blair cried out into the hall. “I’m making a claim to the throne!”
There was a comedic scuffle, and the crown ended up in Delancey’s hands. Then, she placed it on Blair’s head.
Nothing happened. The crown didn’t glow, her outfit didn’t change, nothing.
The room was awkwardly silent.
Then Dame Devin started crying.
“Mom…?” Said Delancey.
Dame Devin sobbed. “I really thought for a moment that my beloved niece might have been alive, but you’re a fraud! How could you do this to me and our kingdom?”
“Well, gosh, I’m so sorry!”
The surrounding princesses began to shake their heads and turn away from Blair.
“Damn, this is really a huge turn off,” said prince Nicholas. “I don’t think I can simp for this chick anymore. Swain out.”
He left.
Everyone began to shuffle out. It was just so embarrassing. Blair dropped to her knees, not cushioned by a skirt that never materialized. She found herself looking into the eyes of her adopted sister, Emily.
“Well, Emily, even if I’m not a real princess, I’m still your sister, right?”
Emily shook her head sadly, though her face was devoid of sentiment. “You’re an embarrassment to our family.”
Blair looked up at her mother as she slowly nodded. What used to be her family turned and left her too.
Blair sobbed into her hands.
