Work Text:

Riku Nanase sniffled lightly and cuddled under his duvet. His body felt heavy. His nose was stuffy, and his throat hurt every time he coughed. He knew he had a cold, but he was determined to ignore it, even though his physical discomfort had already begun to make him grumpy. He had a lot of things to do today, so he couldn't stay in his room. He knew that Tenn-ni wouldn't disappoint his fans because he had a cold, so Riku wouldn't either. Sitting up in his bed, he shivered slightly at the cold air. He wrapped a thick blanket around himself and stood up. Changing into some warm clothes, he grabbed his bag and threw his inhaler and some tissues into it. He brushed his hair and left his room, making it to the common area of the Idolish7 dorms. The common area was buzzing with activity as he stepped into it; after all, he wasn't the only member that had things to do today. Grabbing the water bottle, he quickly left the dorms and made his way to his activities. Taking a deep breath, he readied himself for the day ahead and began walking, his bag slung over his shoulder.

He tightened the coat around his body and sneezed. Making his way to his first destination, which was a photo shoot. Coughing slightly, Riku made his way to the studio, the cold air making the sick redhead shiver. Entering the studio, his face paled at the other person who would be doing the photo shoot with him. Kujo Tenn; his older twin brother. If his partner for today was anybody else, it wouldn't be a problem, but it was Tenn-ni who always took care of him when he would catch a cold when the two boys were younger. So trying to hide a cold from the other boy would be even more difficult than it would be if he were hiding it from anyone else. Sighing softly, the redhead walked into the main area of the studio, and Tenn noticed Riku and gave the other teen a look. When the photographer realized the two idols had arrived, he had them handed over to costumers, who changed the boys into the clothes they would be wearing for the first couple photos. Riku nervously shifted his gaze away from Tenn and tried to act as if he wasn't feeling the telltale signs of a cold. Back in the main room, the two were quickly thrown into various poses. Tenn saw Riku's nervousness and noticed he seemed to be feeling ill; after all, it's hard to hide being sick from your twin.

So Tenn looked over at his brother every now and then to make sure his condition wasn't getting worse. About two hours into the shoot, Riku's condition became obvious as his sneezing and coughing became more frequent. Tenn immediately called for a break, but Rikus insisted on finishing the shoot because he knew how important it was that they finish this for their fans. Tenn gave Riku a worried look, but the redhead just shrugged it off. Another hour into the shoot, the coughing became wheezing, and his fever was starting to become evident on his face. A red flush was on the redhead's face, and every time he was moved around too quickly, his world spun. He was starting to look more and more unwell, and it was clear that he needed to take a break soon. Even the photographers were starting to show their concerns as well. After a lot of talking, the photographers called a five-minute break for the two idols. It was obvious that Riku was becoming uncomfortable with the constant flashes and camera clicks, and the photographers agreed that the break was necessary to allow the obviously sick redhead few minutes of rest.

Riku tried to protest the break, but the photographers wouldn't hear his protest and said they needed to recalibrate the cameras anyway. With that, the two idols were left to have their break, and Riku made sure to avoid eye contact with his twin. Sneezing softly, the redhead held back another wheezing cough. Tenn gave him a look, and Riku knew he was going to get a talking to once the photo shoot was over. There was only about one more hour left, so the sick boy didn't have to hold out much longer. Tenn had noticed Riku's lack of enthusiasm throughout the entire shoot and was disappointed in his behavior. However, he knew that he needed to pick his battles and decided to wait until they were finished before addressing it. Alternatively, Riku took a deep breath and tried to pull himself together for the remainder of the shoot, knowing that his illness was no excuse for not giving his best effort for his fans. An hour later, the photo shoot was wrapping up, and Riku was feeling even worse than he did in the morning. His face was flushed red, and his body was racked with shivers. As soon as the last shot was taken, he collapsed onto the nearest chair, feeling utterly drained.

Tenn gave his twin a look while Riku took a few deep breaths. The redhead continued to shiver, sweat dripping down his neck. The directors and crew were cleaning up the area while the two idols rested and got ready to head home. Riku soon got up, coughing slightly, and went to make his way out of the studio. Before the sick idol was able to leave, though, his twin grabbed his arm, flinching at the heat of the redhead's body. Tenn sighed softly and pulled Riku with him. "You should know better than to push yourself when you're sick.." Riku nodded and leaned into Tenn's shoulder. His fever was getting to him as he continued to shiver. He knew Tenn-ni meant well, but the pace that his older brother was dragging him at was disorenting. As Riku stumbled out of the studio, he felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. His twin quickly pulled him up right before he hit the ground. Looking worriedly at his brother's pale face, Tenn checked his twin's forehead and sighed. "I'm fine," his twin protested weakly, but Tenn could tell he wasn't. After all, Tenn-ni used to look after the redhead whenever he was sick. Tenn sighed softly while looking over at Riku.

"Do you have someone picking you up or do you need a ride back to the I7 dorms?" Riku smiled slightly at the question. He knew Tenn-ni was worried, but it made him happy knowing he still cared. Riku quickly shook his head and answered his brother's question with yes; someone was coming to pick him up. Nodding to himself, Tenn then turned on his heel and made his way off, as the other idol had an even busier schedule. He knew that as long as Riku was being picked up, he would be fine. Riku sneezed lightly and stood up once Tenn-ni was out of sight. He knew that his twin was going to be upset with him if the word got back to him, but Riku didn't actually have a ride. He only said it because he didn't want to worry the white-haired boy even more than he already was. After all, Riku is also an idol, so he should be able to take care of himself. Coughing harshly and stumbling every now and then, Riku eventually made his way to the dorms and made his way inside. Making his way into the dorms, Riku took his shoes off and made his way to his room. Surprisingly, he didn't run into any of the other members of Idolish7

Opening his door Riku made his way into his room and quickly turned on the heat, as he was still shivering even in his warm clothes. Changing into some comfortable clothes, Riku wrapped himself in his blankets and laid down. His throat was starting to burn, and his chest hurt from all the coughing. He curled under his blankets, sneezing loudly. His body hurt, and he could feel the sweat drip down his neck even though he was freezing. Closing his eyes, the redhead took a deep breath, wheezing. His body was shaking, and his chest ached. He hated being sick. The red-headed boy curled up under his blankets and continued to take a few deep breaths. Despite the discomfort, he found solace in the warmth of his bed and hoped to recover soon. He closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. It didn't take long—maybe an hour or two later—when the redhead was awakened from his sleep by a knock on his door. Groaning softly Riku barried is head in his blankets. The sound of the knocking pierced through his head. He sighed lightly as the knocking continued a bit more franticly. Riku got out of bed, his blanket wrapped around his shoulders. His vision swam as he walked towards his door.

Once he opened the door, he saw a familiar figure standing there with a look of concern on their face. Looking at the blurry figure in front of him, Riku waited for his vision to clear. In front of him was Iori. The younger boy looked at Riku with concern, most likely due to the fact that the redhead's face was flushed and he was covered in a blanket. "Are you feeling okay?" Iori asked, leaning in closer to examine Riku's face. Riku nodded weakly, grateful for the concern but still feeling ill." Riku tried to give Iori a reassuring smile, but the effort only made his head spin. Iori sighed and pulled the blanket tighter around Riku's shoulders, silently promising to take care of him. "Is there anything I can do to help?" Iori asked softly, his eyes full of worry. Riku shook his head. He didn't want Iori worrying about him too. Riku was older than the blue haired teen; he shouldn't have to rely on him to take care of him. After all, Riku should be able to take care of himself. "Dinner will be done soon. If you need me to, I can bring it for you when it's done." Wheezing slightly, Riku shook his head. "No..that's fine. I'll be able to get dinner when it's done by myself." Iori looked hesitant but nodded anyway.

"Okay, but remember we're here if you need us." Riku nodded slightly, and Iori left the room, allowing Riku to go back to sleep. Riku closed his door and retreated back into his room. Making sure the heat was on blast, Riku took a sip of his water bottle and went back under the covers of his bed. Curling up under the covers, Riku was very much aware of how the dorms were no longer quiet; he was able to hear some of the members in the kitchen and common area, but through his fever muddled brain, he wasn't able to pinpoint whose voice was whose. Yawning softly, he baried his head in the pillows and tried to block out the noise. After all, he wasn't going to get any better if he didn't rest. And he had to get better. Riku is the center of Idolish7 and if he remembers correctly, they have a concert in a few days, so he wants to get better; he has to get better. Otherwise, he'll disappoint his fans and his fellow group members. Riku also knows that if he doesn't take care of himself, there's a possibility he could jeopardize the future of Idolish7.

He tried to go back to sleep, but no matter what he tried, sleep would not come. After a good thirty minutes of staring at the ceiling, the redhead got up from his bed and made his way towards the kitchen area. He figured that he might as well try to be productive until he felt tired again. As he walked, he could feel his eyes growing heavy and hoped that maybe he could try to sleep again soon. The redhead decided to make himself a cup of chamomile tea in the hopes that it would help him relax as well as soothe his throat. He ran into a few of the other members on his way to the kitchen, but mixed with being tired and sick, he wasn't really in the mood to make idle conversation. Walking into the kitchen, he was met with the sight of Iori cooking. Setting the water to boil, the sickly redhead leaned against the counter. He shivered; the air out here was even colder than the air in his own heated room. He rubbed his arms, trying to warm himself up. As he waited for the water to boil, he wondered if it was worth the effort to make tea or if he should just go back to bed. Sneezing, the redhead grabbed a mug out of the cabinet and started to prepare the tea while waiting on the water.

Riku shivered, his sickness getting the best of him. Every sharp movement the redhead made was making his vision spin. The noise from the common room sent pain through his skull. He heard the whistle of the kettle and reached out to grab it, pouring the water into his mug. Setting the kettle back, he stirred his tea. The heat soaked into his hands, but the redhead still shivered. His face, instead of being a light pink, was instead flushed with a bright red. His fever has only gotten worse. Riku took a sip of his tea, hoping to soothe his rough throat. The redhead coughed harshly, and Iori quickly turned to him in worry. Waving him off, the redhead took another sip of his tea and made his way back to his room. Iori sighed softly as the redhead made his way back to his room. He hoped that whatever he had come down with didn't set off the sickly boy's asthma. Iori knew that the redhead's health was fragile, and he didn't want to risk anything, especially since they had a show later this week and he knew the redhead would be upset if he couldn't attend.

Riku made his way back into his room and continued to drink the tea. Iori decided to check up on the redhead to make sure he was okay and offered to bring him some soup or medicine if needed.

Riku thanked Iori for his kindness but declined the offer, saying that he just needed some rest. Iori nodded understandingly and left the room, hoping that Riku would feel better soon. Once the younger teen left the room, the redhead sighed softly, which quickly turned into a rough cough. He rubbed his chest, feeling the pain as it constricted his lungs. He fumbled for his inhaler, hoping it would bring him some relief, but it was nowhere to be found. Panic started to set in as he realized he couldn't find his inhaler; it wasn't in the bag he packed earlier for his photo shoot. it was possible he dropped it and didn't know until now. The sick redhead's breathing continued to pick up as he franticly searched for the inhaler. He cursed himself for not being more careful with his belongings and hoped that he would find it soon before the situation worsened. As he rummaged through his bag, he tried to calm himself down and take deep breaths to avoid triggering a full-blown asthma attack. Soon, his hand wrapped around the blue device, and he administered a dose of the medicine.

He took a few deep breaths as he felt the medicine slowly soothe his lungs. He closed his eyes and let out a sigh of relief, grateful for the technology that allowed him to manage his chronic illness. As he put the device back on the table, he made a mental note to order more medicine before he ran out. Shivering, the redhead got back into bed and cuddled under his blankets. Being sick was causing his asthma to get worse, and he just wanted his stupid cold to be over already. The redhead sneezed lightly and curled up under his blankets, slowly falling back to sleep. As the redheaded twin was sleeping, his older twin brother was making his way to the dorms to check on the younger. The older twin was concerned about his brother's health and wanted to make sure he was okay. After all, the redhead had almost passed out a few times at the photo shoot they both took part in. Tenn soon arrived at the dorm building and knocked on the front door. When the door was opened, Tenn was welcomed by the younger Izumi brother. Iori gave the white haired teen a weird look but stepped aside anyway to let the older twin in.

Tenn thanked him and headed down towards the dorm rooms. He soon found his way towards his brother's room and knocked on the door. He was greeted with no response. He tried the handle and found it unlocked, so he slowly pushed the door open. Once in the room, Tenn was greeted with an intense amount of heat. Turning the light on, he was able to take a look at the disheveled state of his twin's room. His inhaler had fallen on the floor; a cup of half-drunk tea was on his bedside table next to a few tissues. The air in the room was stale, and amongst the gentle hum of the heater, Tenn was able to hear the sound of Riku wheezing under his covers. His twin's red hair was barely visible as he was curled under his blankets. Tenn walked over to Riku's bed and placed his hand near his brother's forehead; before the white haired twin could even make contact, he felt the heat. Tenn knew immediately that Rikus had a fever and would need medical attention if it wasn't brought down. He quickly left for the common area to find a thermometer to check his brother's temperature. He found the thermometer and quickly made his way to Riku's room to check the redhead's temperature immediately. In his twin's room, Riku's wheezing had gotten louder, and it seemed his brother had woken up. Riku looked towards Tenn when he entered, and the white haired teen immediately noticed how hazy his brother's eyes were.

Cursing too himself Tenn quickly put the thermometer in his twin's ear and waited for it to beep. It didn't take much longer for it to beep, and it did indeed read that Riku's fever was high. Sighing softly

Tenn went to leave the room but was stopped by Riku pulling his arm. "Tenn-ni..you're leaving already?" The redhead questioned his cold evident in his voice. Tenn turned around and faced the redhead. "I'm going to grab something to bring your temperature down." Riku pouted but let his grip fall. It took about four minutes, but Tenn was soon back in the sick boy's room. Tenn held a cup of water and a few pills in his hand, which he handed to Riku. "Here, take this. It'll help with the fever," Tenn said softly. Riku protested at first but ended up taking the pills. The two twins sat in the room, with the occasional sneeze or cough coming from the redhead. Riku's body slowly relaxed as the medicine took effect, and he drifted off to sleep. Tenn smiled and went to leave but again was held back by the redhead. Shaking his head Tenn sat down and decided that he'll deal with the reprocutios later. The two twins stayed in the room the older one was sooning drifting off as well.
