Chapter Text
Jean was very sure of one thing. She would never forget that night and the next few months for the rest of her life.
***
About 5 years ago:
When Kaeya regained consciousness, he realized that he was still getting wet in the rain. How long was he unconscious? Where was Diluc? Ah... That's right... Diluc wasn't by his side anymore.
"You are no brother of mine anymore!"
Kaeya remembered his words. He could no longer return home. He had no place to go. Or someone...No... There was, but... But what if she had the same reaction? Could Kaeya lose her too? Could he handle it?
He had to try. His body was in pain, he had lost a lot of blood. Burns, cuts, bruises… If Kaeya stayed here, he would definitely die. So he had to try.

Jean didn't know what to expect from that night, but she certainly wasn't expecting a bloody, half-dead Kaeya. Kaeya had somehow managed to get to Jean's house.
"Jean…" he whispered. His voice sounded very tired. Jean was still in shock and didn't know what to think or how to react.
“Jean…” Kaeya repeated. This repetition brought Jean to herself. She immediately took Kaeya in and laid him on the sofa in the living room. Then she started to heal him with vision.
"Kaeya... What happened?"
"Please Jean... don't ask tonight. I'll tell you everything tomorrow."
"But-"
"Please..." The begging of her dear childhood friend had silenced Jean for the time being.
Jean could not understand exactly how that night had passed. Kaeya's injuries were severe. Jean didn't even want to think about it, but what if Kaeya wasn't blessed with the vision? She probably wouldn't be able to hold his hand right now.
She had generally healed Kaeya's wounds and wrapped them in bandages. Kaeya had thanked her and had refused when Jean had offered to go to the cathedral. Jean didn't press for it. Then the morning came.
***
Mondstadt has always been a city where the news spread quickly, but even Jean was surprised by this much.
In the early hours of the morning, while Kaeya was still asleep, there was a knock on Jean's door. It was Lisa.
"Jean, we need to talk!"
"Is it urgent, Lisa? I have other things to take care of right now..." Jean pointed inside with her head. Lisa was surprised at first to see Kaeya but then looked as if everything had fallen into place.
"It's actually about him."
"Okay, but I don't want to wake him, he had a very rough night."
"Okay. Come to Good Hunter for breakfast with me. You'll get something to eat for Kaeya, too."
"Wait a minute, let me change."
***
"So? What's up, Lisa?"
"You heard that Master Crepus died yesterday, didn't you?"
"Unfortunately yes..."
"And did you hear what happened next?"
"I honestly have no idea."
"Diluc resigned yesterday and left his vision."
"What?!"
"Not only that, Jean. This morning, Diluc deprived Kaeya of Master Crepus' legacy. Kaeya is no longer a Ragvindr."
"What are you talking about, Lisa? How is that possible?"
"It's not over yet, Jean. Nobody has seen Diluc since morning. I talked to Adelinde. She said that Diluc took a few things with him. He talked to her as if he was going on a long journey, but did not tell her where he was going and when he would be back."
"I can't believe it."
"How are things on your side? Everyone was wondering where Kaeya was."
"Oh, Lisa... where do I start?"
"Is he okay?"
"No...not well at all, Lisa. He was half-dead when he came to my door yesterday. Cuts, bruises, but worst of all, burns..."
"Do you think..."
"I don't even want to think about it, Lisa. You know them too. They were inseparable just till yesterday. How could he-"
"Go to Kaeya, Jean. Don't leave him alone."
"I won't."
***
When Jean returned home, she saw that Kaeya was awake. The young alpha was sitting on the sofa, his head lowered to the floor, and his eyes were not taking his eyes off the carpet. When Jean looked carefully, she saw that his hands were trembling. She left what she had bought from Good Hunter in the kitchen and walked slowly over to him.
"Kaeya?"
Kaeya slowly lifted his head. This time, Jean noticed his red eyes, the tears still flowing. She hugged her friend so gently that it wouldn't hurt him. She slowly released the comforting pheromones into the air, which is the one of beauties of being an Omega. Kaeya buried his head in Jean's shoulder and let himself relax completely, and began to sob.
After a few hours, Kaeya finally calmed down.
"Jean."
"Yes, Kaeya?"
"I'm ready now."
And Kaeya told Jean everything. From the very beginning to the very end. Including parts to which Diluc didn't listen.
***
The next few months were very difficult. After Diluc, a lot had to change. Kaeya did not speak to anyone from Winery during this time. How many times did Adelinde come and go, but each time only Jean spoke to her.
Kaeya did not step out of the house, as he had recovered physically in the first month and did not feel mentally ready in the second month.
At the beginning of the third month, he returned to work. Unaware of the surprise Varka has prepared for him. Jean didn't really understand Varka. How making Kaeya the Cavalry Captain would be good for him? But this took everyone by surprise. Kaeya found a purpose in becoming Captain and began to heal.
Time passed quickly. Kaeya spoke to Adelinde for the first time on his own birthday, about 7 months later. At least Jean was glad to see that things were getting better between the two of them. It was good for Kaeya too.
The anniversary of Master Crepus' death hit Kaeya very hard. A week before the anniversary of his death, he had locked himself in his room and was not accepting anyone. Jean had scrambled into the room, begging. When he saw Kaeya's condition, she made him an offer.
"Start a pack with me, Kaeya."
Although Kaeya can't even remember why or how he accepted it now, he was lucky that accepted the offer.
If you asked Jean how the next three years went, she would say it was neither very good nor very bad, but something made her very happy. Kaeya was no longer alone. The pack he had formed with Jean had grown. Lisa joined them first. Then Eula and Amber. When Alice returned to Mondstadt, she had somehow heard of Jean and Kaeya's pack and came to Jean with an offer.
"Jean, honey... How about a pup and a handsome alchemist in your pack?"
Of course, Jean did not immediately accept this offer, but both Klee and Albedo managed to get the pack to accept them. In particular, Albedo had captured Kaeya's heart. Kaeya was always so obvious. Fortunately, Albedo was too oblivious. Not long after the two met, They were already acting like Klee's parents.
Over time, their Pack took its current form.
Today, Kaeya had three packs. Not everything was going well. There was a lot to fix, but at least Jean was hopeful.
