Epilogue Part 2 (The Reception)
An hour later Ava and Deborah are dressed in slightly less formal wear as they enter the reception which was being held in the mansion’s dining room. They are greeted by a round of applause and wolf whistles. The couple were take their place in the middle of the large dining room table, which had been moved so the dining room could accommodate guest tables and a dance floor. Marcus stands and taps his glass alerting the guests to take their seats. The man waits until all the guests were seated before clearing his throat and looking at the now married couple.
“As most of you know I have known Deborah since I was a young teen and let me tell you I have been witness to some important events in Deborah’s life but none as big or as important as this one. I was not a fan of Ava when she first arrived; I believed her to be a no-good upstart who would never understand the woman she had been sent to write for however I was wrong. I have never seen a more suited couple in both a professional capacity and in a personal one. God knows these two have pulled punches at each other, but they have always come out stronger and that the love between them is something to be in awe of. Ava, Deborah watching your relationship grow from hate to love and all the pit stops in-between has been not just rewarding but truly an honour. I hope the years you have together are filled with happiness and love; to Deborah and Ava” Marcus raises his glass prompting the guests to also raise their glasses and say in sync.
“Deborah and Ava” Deborah stands and hugs Marcus tightly, whispering thank yous in his ear before the pair sit back down. Ava kisses Deborah’s cheek and then winks at Marcus. After an hour of random chatter and people coming up to the happy couple to say congratulations; Marcus stands and smiles over at Francine who had been given the pleasure of singing ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love with You’ for the couple’s first dance.
“Ladies and Gentlemen please stand for the happy couple’s first dance” Ava stands and offers Deborah her hand; the older woman smiling as she takes her wife’s hand and allows the young woman to guide her to the dance floor and pulls her into her arms. When in Vegas go all out Elvis.
‘Wise men say
"Only fools rush in"
But I can't help
Falling in love with you’
Ava and Deborah glide around the dance floor, the older woman resting her head against Ava’s losing herself in the moment with her wife. Ava presses a soft kiss to Deborah’s temple as they lose themselves in the music and each other.
‘Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin
If I can't help
Falling in love with you?’
‘Like a river flows
Surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be’
Ava smiles as she whispers the lyrics into Deborah’s ear. They were meant to be without any shadow of a doubt.
‘Take my hand
Take my whole life too
For I can't help
Falling in love with you’
‘Like a river flows
Surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be’
‘Take my hand
Take my whole life too
For I can't help
Falling in love with you’
‘For I can't help
Falling in love with you’
