Chapter Text

After Phil left Wilbur realized they never exchanged phone numbers.

As Wilbur thought about what to do he realized the date.

December 23rd

'Tomorrows Christmas Eve' Wilbur thinks

He walks over to his kitchen and grabs a sticky note and writes down his phone number with a little smiley underneath and 'From Wilbur' at the very bottom.

He walks out of his house ad quickly crosses the street to Phil's house.

He slides the note under the door and gives a quick wave to the camera and then goes back to his house.

Once in his house he gets ready for bed, slightly dreading the next day.

Wilbur woke up early the next morning, still in a bit of a sour mood.

He went downstairs and made himself some hot chocolate and got Daisy some food.

He walked over to his couch and turned on the TV, and bundled himself up in a throw blanket.

Wilbur sat on his couch for basically the entire day, the sun had began to set and Wilbur was on his 3rd TV show.

As Wilbur sat on the couch spaced out he heard a knock on the door, making him jump.

He stood up from his spot on the couch and opened it up slowly.

Once he opened it up all the way he was surprised to see Phil and his 2 sons.

"W-what are you guys doing here?" Wilbur asked, still shocked.

Phil didn't answer and just pushed past Wilbur, his 2 sons doing the same.

"Shouldn't you guys be at home?" Wilbur asked, sounding a bit panicky

He was ignored for a second time, and that was when he noticed all of the stuff they were holding.

Tommy was holding a huge pile of blankets and pillows.

Techno was holding a bunch of old DVDs consisting of all Christmas movies, and one Pixar movie called 'Up' for some reason.
He was also holding a dish of mashed potatoes.

Phil was holding a pan of some kind of food as well as some smaller dishes.

Wilbur watched in shock as Tommy threw all of the blankets down on the couch and began constructing a fort.

Techno placed the movies down on the TV stand and carried the dish to the kitchen along side Phil.

Wilbur watched Tommy struggle with the foundation of the fort so he walked over and scooted the coffee table 2 feet away from the couch to make room.

Tommy paused and looked at Wilbur for a minute before Wilbur said:

"Are you just gonna stand there? Hand me some blankets."

A grin formed on Tommy's face and he tossed Wilbur a big comforter.

Wilbur dragged over some chairs and draped the blanket over them and the couch successfully creating a dome over the floor.

Tommy crawled inside and placed a blanket over the wood floors and started piling some pillows on top.

Wilbur suddenly had a great idea!

He ran to his room as fast as he could and dug through his closet until he could find what he needed.

He re-emerged from his room and into the living room now carrying a set of LED lights.

He crawled inside next to Tommy and began hanging all across the top blanket.

Both he and Tommy crawled out from the fort to admire their masterpiece.

Tommy held out his hand for a high five.

"Did you know that high fives spread ten times the germs as a fist bump" Wilbur said and then held his hand out for a fist bump.

Tommy squinted his eyes and then gave Wilbur a slow, hesitant, fist bump.

Phil and Techno walked back into the living room and they were both holding boxes that Wilbur hadn't seen when they first walked in.

Upon closer inspection the one Techno was holding was a small Christmas tree.

And the one Phil as holding what full of glass ornaments.

"You guys didn't have to do all of this!" Wilbur rushed out

"No one should be alone on Christmas Eve" Phil said, placing down the box

"Or without a tree" Techno added.

Wilbur watched as Techno and Phil set up the tree.

Wilbur also noticed Tommy was starting to get bored, so he offered the only thing he really could.

"Hey Tommy, want some hot chocolate?"

If only Wilbur knew what he was getting himself into..

30 minutes later they had a Christmas tree set up and an extremely hyper eight year old running around.

Wilbur was watching in disbelief as the tiny child ran around his living room.

"I dont know how he got that much energy from half a cup of hot cocoa" A voice said from Wilbur's left

Phil climbed inside the fort with Wilbur, holding his own cup of hot chocolate.

"I dont remember being this hyper when I was eight" Wilbur said smiling

"Im sure you were" Phil said

"Oh, no no no I remember being an itty bitty eight year old who would sit in his room and play the guitar. Not run around like a little maniac" Wilbur teased

"HEY! I HEARD THAT" Screamed Tommy barging into the fort.

"Ok ok! Settle down Tommy!" Phil said

Techno finally joined them inside of the fort with 3 movies in hand.

"Alright its either the live action Grinch movie, a Christmas story, or Elf" Techno said, listing off the options

"Ooo I wanna watch the Grinch!" Tommy shouted, loudly stating his opinion

"Tommy this isn't the animated one, its the live action one, I thought you didn't like this one??" Techno said, confused

"I wanna watch the Grinch!" Tommy shouted once more.

Phil turned to Wilbur as the other 2 continued arguing

"What do you want to watch, mate?" He asked

"Um, Elf?" Wilbur stated it more as a question

"Alright! Elf it is!" Phil loudly announced, his voice booming over Tommy's and Techno's.

Techno got up and slid the DVD in the slot and pressed play.

The opening scene began playing..

Only 45 minutes into the movie Tommy was fast asleep, having come down from his sugar rush.

He was propped up against Techno, whose eyes were beginning to droop.

Phil was still awake, calmly watching the movie.

As Wilbur sat there, staring at probably the kindest people he had ever had in his life

He realized he had never had something like this before,

The loud siblings, the kind parent,

Between his parents ignoring him for his whole life, and him moving out at 16

This was probably the happiest he had ever been,

Wilbur distantly noticed tears falling from his eyes

Phil glanced over at him and saw him crying

"Are you okay mate?" Phil asked, concern present in his voice

It only made Wilbur cry harder

The next words out of his mouth shocked the both of them

"Thank you" Wilbur said in a small, barely heard voice

"Thank you for giving me a chance, and not hating me when everyone else had." He continued as his eyes began to droop.

Phil leaned forward and scooped Wilbur up into a hug

Wilbur couldn't remember the last time he had been held

He unknowingly leaned into the touch, chasing it,wanting it to never stop.

He felt Phil's hands carding through his hair.

That night Wilbur fell asleep feeling the safest he ever had.

He knew that he had found his true family.

Notes:

This is the last chapter, this book only took me 2 days to write and is the first work I am actually semi proud of.

I hope you enjoyed it I wasn't sure if things had gone too fast so depending on what you guys think I might add a buffer chapter in between this and the last chapter.

Also let me know if you would like to see more from this story I could always write some one shots that are like an aftermath to this one.
