The Tale of Princess Sunny

Summary:

It's Halloween. A time for many families to trot around their respective neighborhoods to admire decorations, show off their costumes, and most important of all... score delicious candies! And it was no different at the Suzuki household where the Suzuki siblings were getting ready to steal all the candy for themselves!

And Mari has a foolproof plan to make sure they get all the candy... even if Sunny is less than enthused about it.

Notes:

Hi welcome to the beginning notes. I only use these if I have some explaining to do. So... I have some explaining to do.

Sooooo, I messed up. Quite a bit actually. Well okay I messed up twice but those are pretty big mess ups.

The 1st mess up was during Flower Power, you know the one where Basil's introduced? Yeah well, I messed up there because I forgot that Basil's parents abandoned him when he was a TODDLER. I thought they abandoned him a little bit later in life which was why I included her and not the father. But they're both gone at an early age so I changed updated it. That chapter was changed and should be done and dusted.

The 2nd mistake was in the last story. Uhh... yeah Mewo wasn't adopted until Sunny's Birthday before the Incident. That was explained in Basil's photo album. I'm not sure why I forgot that piece of information and I'm kinda mad at myself for not knowing that or beating those points into my memory/notes. Especially since it's information that's not at all hard to find. Guess I tunnel visioned too much.

Anyway the 1st point is already taken care of, the 2nd point as well. It took some finessing, both to change Mewo to the new pet, but also change it from a kitten to a puppy. Why a puppy and not just name the kitten a new name? Well there's two reasons.

The first reason is if I'm going to retcon something I might as well go all in on it.

The second and much bigger reason is, well if a kitten is going to be adopted in the future I might as well have some pet variety. In my humble opinion having multiple different pets is better than having multiple of one pet. That and I thought it'd be kinda funny for Sunny's house to inevitably become a Noah's Arc... Sunny's Arc.

Now any other time I would just say 'Frick it just roll with it' but it's not that hard of a fix and changing it could help things flow more smoothly. But it will take a little bit, not to mention change the last chapter a bit.

I hate retconning things, when writing I typically roll with the punches and learn from them. Like it's one thing to change something small, you know simple mistakes. Not erasing two potentially major characters because of my shoddy job at researching. I apologize and hopefully that won't happen again.

So I hope this preview will give you all something to feed off of while I fix things. Because this chapter in particular is one I'm proud of, but again it will take some time. Both because of fixing continuity... and I'm trying out these Skin things and typing it manually is kinda a pain. But hopefully it'll make it easier to follow.

Anyway that's it. Sorry again for the inconvenience.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"I'm not sure this is a good idea"

"Oh it's fiiiiine. Let the kids live a little."

"That's not the problem Halley. We were supposed to take them trick or treating. We always have."

"Yeah back in the old house where your sister was willing to give out candies to the kids. But we're out here by our lonesomes." Halley replied, "And besides, I trust those kids to just take a short trip around neighborhood. Mainly because Sean and Karen aren't available."

"You mean those kids Sunny helped with their dating problems?"

"Yup, and I taught him everything he knows." Halley smiled, a small (large) hint of pride in her voice. "But they have a Halloween thing at their school and they wanted the extra credit. But the kids'll be fine!"

"I guess..."

"Good, now help me sort out the candies in the bowl before Mari and Sunny leave."

"Ugh."

"Please don't sound too excited hun."

...

Oh Halloween. A time meant to break curfew to walk around neighborhoods, dressed in silly costumes, and bug your neighbors for delicious candy. A time loved by all, and the children of Faraway Town are no different.

“Come on Sunny! Hurry up!” And one Mari Suzuki was especially excited for Halloween, her favorite holiday of the year. She gets to run around and have fun… and have enough candy to satiate her sweet tooth for at least a week! A win-win scenario for her!

She even pulled out all the stops this year to maximize candy yield. Managing to convince her little brother to do a special themed costume. Now normally he would love to do themed costumes with Mari.

“I can’t believe this is what you wanted.” He had… several problems with this one.

“But think about the candy, Sunny! With us and Onion no one can possibly say no to giving us candy!”

“But…”

“You promised, remember?”

These are the days Sunny hates how he cannot physically say no to his sister. So with a heavy heart…

*Click* *Creeak*

He stepped out of their shared bedroom… in a bright pink dress and a tiara, while carrying Onion who was in a dragon costume made for a puppy. He shyly shuffled in place, “Tada…”

*Click* *Poof*

“Yup, that one’s going to the scrap book.”

“MOM!!” All Sunny wanted was to go trick or treating with Mari. He didn’t ask to be embarrassed like this!

“What? Can’t a Queen take pictures of her pretty Princess and his Knight in shining armor?”

“Arf!”

“And his little Beagle dragon?” Content, Onion nuzzled back into the not as content Sunny’s arms. “Anyway, best get down stairs. Henry, Kel, Aubrey, and Basil will be here–”

“HELLOOOO! WE’RE HERE!!”

“KEL NOT SO LOUD!!”

“Right now.” Sunny sighed and trotted towards the stairs.

“Let’s go… my brave knight.”

"Arf.”

Mari giggled lightly, “Don’t worry fair princess, I will save you!”

As Sunny began descending down the stairs he began to ponder how to make this experience a small amount more bearable… and then he got an idea. And it was at that moment…

Sunny learned what Pettiness was.

...

“Sunny, why are you in a dress?” Kel asked with a sour face, “You’re gonna get cooties if you keep that thing on!”

Sunny put on a dignified expression as he flipped what little hair he could flip, “I am Princess Sunny, heir to the Daydream Kingdom.” After rehearsing that speech during the 30 seconds it took the Fantasy Trio to make it to the living room, Sunny nailed it with flying colors. “I’m awaiting my Knight to rescue me from the dragon.”

“Bark.” And Onion’s contributions helped sell the act.

“But she’s taking quite a long time. I’m getting fed up with waiting.” Well that line got Mari’s attention.

“Oh is that so, Princess?”

“Yes. Rescue me. The dragon requires a lot of candy to be satiated.”

“Well in that case, come on Mr. Scarecrow.” She gestured to Kel in his scarecrow costume, “Ms. Cat.” This time to Aubrey in her cat costume, “Mr. Carrot.” Basil in a carrot costume. “And last but not least, Mr. Magician.” And Henry, in his magician costume. “We must get enough candy to satiate the dragon to save the fair Princess from the Daydream Kingdom.”

“But I wanted to eat the candy–”

*Bonk*

“Hey!”

“We accept the… uhh… deal! Yeah, the deal to help Princess Sunny.” Aubrey said before glaring at Kel, “Right? Kel?”

He shrunk ever so slightly under her glare, “F-Fine.”

“I will help too.” Henry added as Basil nodded in agreement.

“Then let us depart!!”

Main Quest: Rescue the Fair Princess

START!!

Sunny

Kel

Henry/Hero

Mari

Aubrey

Basil

Onion the Beagle

...

The first step on their quest to satiate Onion the Dragon, was to head to the Rodriguez Commonwealth. A location where food and shelter is aplenty! However… the matriarch is a rather generous–

And Angry!

Kel that’s not nice…

Sorry…

Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah. The matriarch is a rather generous ruler, making sure those who enter eat till they’re satisfied… whether they wanted to or not.

*Ding dong*

The fair Magician, hailing from the Commonwealth, rang the bell to the Matriarch residence.

*Click* *Creak*

"Oh Henry, Kelsey, Sunny, Mari, Aubrey, Basil! Happy Halloween!"

The Matriarch gave us the objects of the dragon's desire. Pieces of delectable candy. One for each of us.

"Why is Sunny talking to himself?"

"I'm narrating Mrs. Rodriguez."

Speaking of, why are you the one narrating?!

Because I'm royalty. And everyone knows royalty writes the history books.

Arrf!

That's right Onion-- I mean dragon.

"Oookay. Well happy Halloween to all of you. You best get going the night is still young after all."

"Yes ma'am"

With the artifacts safely in the hands of our brave heroes. The group advanced to their next destination. The Ocean Port Town of Cristalia. Home of the Lady Cristal Waters, daughter of Duchess Susie Waters.

Wait, what's an duck... dutch

Duchess. Think of her as a Queen.

But calling Cris a 'Lady' ehh? Any reason you see her like that, Princess Sunny?

Sunny turned light red, but shook the blush away.

Lady Cristal is the next ruler of the Port Town. She's essentially royalty. Like I am.

Sunny gave a flick of the hair to hide the amount of shyness he's feeling from being called out publicly like that. Spoilers, it wasn't very effective.

Anyway, after my supposed hero kept interrupting me--

Oi!

We have arrived at Cristalia, all that's left to do is ring the sacred bell.

*Ding Dong*

"Hel-- Oh Sunny! Kel! Happy Halloween!"

The mother of Lady Cristal has arrived, this left the Princess to be diplomatic.

"Why are you--"

"Duchess Susie. As the Princess of the Daydreamer Kingdom, I humbly request you grant my Knight and her allies pieces of candy to rescue me from this dragon. Whose name is Onion."

"Arf! Grr..."

"As you can see, her patience is wearing rather thin. It's only a matter of time until I'm devoured very slowly and painlessly." Onion the Dragon Beagle gave Princess Sunny a light lick on the back of his hand, "See she's already starting."

Susie resisted the urge to giggle uncontrollably at Sunny's acting chops. "Very well Princess Sunny. I shall spare some pieces of candy to aid you in your plight against Onion the Dragon."

"Thank--"

"Mom? Why are you taking so long?"

Descending from the steps came Lady Cristal. Dressed up as the Mythical Creature, the Mermaid.

"Oh Sunny! Kel! Hi!"

"Cris? Whose at the door?"

Following close behind the fair Lady, is the Legendary Artist Mincy. Traveling far across the various kingdoms on a quest of painting the world in her image.

"Mom, why is Sunny talking to himself?"

"L-Legendary?" Mincy muttered, trying (and failing) not to blush as she hid herself underneath her beret.

"Oh dears that's Princess Sunny. Hailing from the Daydreamer Kingdom. He needs candy to be saved from Onion the Dragon."

"Ooooh. Guess he can't stay to play?"

"Sorry sweetheart. But you can ask him to play tomorrow after he's rescued." Susie then looked back at Sunny, "If his highness wants to?"

Thinking back on it, it has been a while since Sunny has spent time with Cris and Mincy. Well it's been a while since he spent time with quite a few people in Faraway. "Of course." He intends to change that. "You too Mincy?"

Mincy's eyes lit up, "Yeah!"

"Well now that THAT'S settled. I do believe the Princess and her cohorts should continue their quest. Can't have a playdate if he's eaten."

"Oh right-- Ahem. Thank you for your generosity Duchess Susie." With a bow Princess Sunny headed out the door with his cohorts. But not before waving bye to Cris and Mincy.

After successfully obtaining the candy from Duchess Susie. Our brave adventurers advanced towards the Holy Church of Baker. Home of Priest and Priestess Bowen and Daphne Baker.

So are none of us going to question why Sunny's vocabulary is so good?

My little brother-- I mean our Dear Princess is extremely smart. That's why.

Praise. One of the Princess's few (many) weaknesses.

The Holy Church of Baker is the sole proprietor of baked goods in the Region of Faraway. A generous Church... if the donations are adequet.

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

*Click* *Creeeak*

"Apologies. You didn't ring the doorbell. Therefore you cannot receive candy."

"Wait wha--"

*SLAM*

The Magician failed to uphold the sacred tradition of ringing the doorbell and instead opted to knock on the door. This could cause us to lose candy... and as a result. My life.

W-What?

Great work Magician. You're gonna get the Princess eaten.

B-But that's... fine.

*Dingdong*

After being effectively pressured by the Knight. The Magician opted to ring the doorbell, as he should have at the start.

Alright Princess, I get it.

*Click* *Creeak*

"Hello. Welcome to our... Sunny?"

"Hello Priestess Daphne. I require your aide for I am in dire straits. As you can plainly see I have been captured by a dragon."

"Arf!"

"Her name is Onion. And she will devour me less my loyal Knight and her cohorts obtain enough candy to satiate her."

...

...

"Uhh..."

"He needs Candy Daphne." It would seem the princess verbose speech has lost the priestess. "Good evening, Princess Sunny. I take it the Candy Quest is going well?"

"I have not been eaten yet. So that is a good sign."

"Well it would be a shame if you were eaten. With the current queen having no other heirs to the throne." Mari was about to retort, but remembered she's the knight in this story. "I suppose we should help the Princess from his perilous trial."

The generous Arch Bishop granted the band of heroes a piece of candy each.

"There you all are. Now I do believe the Princess and his Heroes should continue their quest for candy--"

"Wait." Daphne interrupted her mother's declaration by looking at Sunny, "Wanna hang out tomorrow?"

"Can Mincy and Cris come too?"

"Of course."

"Then yes."

Kel meanwhile, "Hey... I wanna come too!" Did not like plans being made without his presence.

"Me too!" And Aubrey threw her hat into the hangout ring.

"Uhh... me three?" And Basil... well he felt awkward still being relatively new to the friend group and all.

"... Guess I'm going to need to talk to Cris and Mincy about it more." He was sure that Cris wouldn't mind the extra company, but Mincy miiight blow a gasket if she wasn't forewarned by the extra 7 people. Though knowing him, that number will only rise.

But he'll make it work. "Hmm... I'm not sure that's possible Daphne. Bowen and your Father are taking over our shifts at the Bakery for Halloween."

Uh oh. A road block.

"B-But!"

"You know the rules Daphne. You two rotate shifts every day, granted weekends are optional, but I remember you bugging me about wanting to have a shift on Saturday. Something about needing some extra pocket money?"

"... Shoot."

Sensing the disappointment coming from Daphne, Sunny came in to save the day. "I can figure something out tomorrow."

Hearing that Sunny wasn't going to leave her behind put Daphne's mind at ease a bit, "Well alright, guess Daphne and I will be seeing you tomorrow then?"

"Of course." And with that, the group waved goodbye to Daphne as they continued on their-- Wait, narrating isn't my job anymore.

After our adventure at the Holy Church of Baker, we reach a crossroads. Continue forward or--

"Grr..." The sound of a low growl cut off Sunny's narration, as a flash of dark green slithered past his peripheral vision.

"W-What was that?" Aubrey meanwhile, was kinda afraid of the random growl.

"I... don't know?" Henry meanwhile, was looking around for where the noise came from.

"Hey Aubrey?" Sunny meanwhile, was unphased.

"Y-Yeah?"

"Can you hold Onion for a bit?"

"Uhh... sure?" She was confused by the random request, but she would never turn down getting to hold a little puppy, "But why?"

"I'm going to test something." Sunny, after placing the evil Dragon Beagle into the hands of Aubrey, walked a few feet ahead... then turned around.

"Wh--"

"Grr..."

"Oh no... I hope a dinosaur doesn't attack this poor defenseless PrincEESS!!"

"GRARR!" Totally unexpected! A dinosaur came in and tackled the poor defenseless Princess Sunny to the ground. "I am the candy dinosaur! Give me your candy!"

"Please oh dangerous dinosaur, we need thos-- Oww! Okay you're biting me. You're actually biting me. You think I'm not going to tell everyone you're biting me, Kim? Think again." Princess Sunny was playfully scolding the giggling mass of dinosaur.

"Give me your candy!!"

"No I need my candy to not get eaten by Onion the Beagle Dragon."

"Arf."

"See, look. She's getting ravenous. I'm running out of time."

"I see... hmm..." Kim started to think about her next move. Naturally she doesn't want her friend (who was a Princess now) to be eaten by a Beagle Dragon Puppy, on the other hand... candy. She like candy a lot. "I know!" But Kim came up with a solution, "The Othermart Plaza."

"What about it?"

"Now this is a well kept secret." It totally wasn't a well kept secret, "But every Halloween the Bakery and Sweet Harts work together to make a bunch of Halloween Treats."

...

...

"Everyone, change of plans. We're going to Othermart." Sunny has made up his mind, he wants those treats if it's the last thing he does as Princess. As for Kim...

'The rest of the Neighborhood's candy... will be mine!!'

Well she has other plans.

...

With a new goal in sight, our intrepid heroes made their way to the Othermart Abbey.

Oh right, the narrating.

*Ding* *Dong*

Entering the Marketplace shows decorations strewn across the building, as workers of varying degrees of excitement stood on the counters in their costumes... of varying quality.

"Why are you talking to yourself Sunny?" An all too familiar voice snapped Sunny out of his narration.

"Oh hey Sarah."

"Hey. You didn't answer my question." As sassy as ever, "And why are you in a dress."

"I'm a Princess. Future Queen of the Daydreamer Kingdom, and I am being held hostage by Onion the Beagle Dragon."

"Arf."

"There she is."

...

...

"You had a puppy? This whole time? And you never told me?!" Sarah's desire to pet the puppy was winning the war against her sassiness.

"Yeah, wanna pet her?" She didn't need to be told twice, snatching the Dragon Beagle out of Sunny's arms and giving Onion her daily intake of Pets and Attention. "Wheres your costume?"

"Halloween is lame." She responded, ignoring the cries of outrage coming from Aubrey and Kel. Mari also had a problem with her statement but kept it internal.

"Well I need candy to save my life. Care to join our brigade?"

... Now Sarah still thought Halloween and Trick-or-Treating was lame. But she liked Su-- I mean Puppies. She liked Puppies. "S-sure." So she decided to tag along.

A village girl joined our intrepid heroes--

Why are you doing that aga-- Wait, how am I doing this?

Don't think about it too much. Anyway, with our new party member, the group advanced towards their main objective. Sweet Harts.

"Oh Sunny! Happy Halloween."

There we were greeted by the main confectioner, Ms. Hart.

"Ooh, confectioner. Nice word." Ms. Hart said, before glancing at Onion the Dragon Beagle, "And normally I don't allow pets inside, mainly because of the Chocolate, but he--"

"She." Sunny was quick to correct the accidental misgendering of his puppy.

"Right, she, seems well behaved. That and I don't think Sarah will let her out of her arms." Ms. Hart then took her spot behind the counter, "So what can I get you lot?"

...

...

"Well Lady Confectioner, I am under duress. For you see Onion the Beagle Dragon has taken me captive."

"Arf."

"And the only way to free me from her grasp is to obtain lots of candy and sweets."

"I see I see... Well given that the Monarchy is new here, you don't know our Halloween Customs." Well count Sunny curious. "Every year Us and the Bakers over at the Bakery make treats for the kids of Faraway. Of course I have my Candy Apples and they have their Halloween Cookies, see?" Ms. Hart laid out a bunch of Halloween Themed cookies for the kids to admire. Ranging from Spiders, Pumpkins, Spooky Ghosts, to even Skeleton Heads. Bottom line? They all look delicious. "But of course, that's not all. This is a collaborative effort after all. So Mr. Baker and I made... this." And now, the pièce de résistance. A tall cake with orange frosting, halloween colored sprinkles coating the bottom, a black ganache cascading down the side, with a bunch of ghosts decorating the very top. It was marvelous...

"Wow..." and Sunny wanted it.

"Looks great huh? Yeah it's kinda a shame, not many people came over this year."

"Huh? Why not?"

"Well, times are changing. The kids that we all used to give buckets of candy to back in the day... well they're grown up. Some are going to college, others are in High School." Ms. Hart must have realized how much of a Debbie Downer she's sounding like because she immediately backpedaled. "But it's not so bad, I mean we got you kids to liven it up. I mean, we even got Royalty and his Escorts here."

Hearing that made Sunny smile, "Why thank you." Before getting back into character with (an attempt at) a curtsey.

"... You know what? You can have all of this."

...

...

"WHAT?!" Everyone including: the formerly unamused Sarah, the soft spoken Basil, and the well mannered Henry, yelled with excitement over the gifting of a large amount of sweets.

"... For?" But Sunny knew that was a 'but' involved in this.

"Smart kid." And Ms. Hart's acknowledgement of a caveat deflated the rest of the group, "See, a lot of budget went into these treats ya see. And it would be bad business if I just gave these away."

Economics, Sunny is well aware of that concept from Ms. Holly. However, Sunny cursed at the injustices of Women's Clothing because this dress had no pockets to put money in. "Now I'm sure you all don't have any money, so I suppose working for it for... hmm... a day would foot the bill."

"Deal." Sunny was quick to accept though, working in this place for a day was well worth the year long sugar high he's gonna get from eating all of these sweets.

"While I appreciate the offer, Princess. I'm afraid it's unbecoming of a Princess to work jobs that belong to us common folk."

"Hmm... injustice. Royalty should work 9 to 5's too."

Ms. Hart was a hairs away from cracking, but she withheld her laughter. "Well in that case, I guess I will see you tomorrow then Princess." And with speed and precision honed from decades in the candy shop field, Ms. Hart boxed up the cookies, caramel apples, and the giant cake with ease. "And with that I do believe you should have enough candy to satisfy your little Dragon."

"Arf!"

"And I'm not just saying that because it's almost 8:00 and you need to get home." A glance at the wall clock shows that... yup it's 7:48. AKA, late and need to go home time.

"Ok--"

"Ma'am this is generous. But you can't expect us to just, take all of these."

"While the humbleness is rather adorable, sometimes you should just accept a gift that comes your way. Besides Sunny already agreed to work the difference off."

"B-But." Henry stuttered, both at the idea of taking all of these sweets home and being called adorable doing a light assault on his psyche.

"Besides..."

*DINGLING*

"I don't think you'll have to worry about eating all the sweets alone."

"Haah... haah. Did we miss it?"

"Oh, hey Bebe."

"Sunny? Oh Sunny! Hi--"

"Dah... haah. Bebe. Why did you have to-- Oh hey Sunny. Wait, why are you wearing a dress?"

"Hello Brandi, I'm a Princess. Heir to the Daydreamer Kingdom."

'Oooh God.' Brandi groaned internally, but decided to be civil, "Anyway are there any of those Halloween goods hiding around?"

"Oop, sorry kiddos. Just gave away... literally everything to them." Ms. Hart commented, stroking the fire for her own amusement.

"WHAT?!?!" Bebe's reaction was exactly what she was hoping for.

"Want to eat them with us?" Ooh the follow up by Sunny got Bebe blushing.

'Yup, that boy is gonna be a lady killer when he grows up. Whether he knows it or not.' Ms. Hart then clapped her hands together, "Oh that's a nice idea Sunny."

Bebe meanwhile was looking at Brandi with the strongest puppy dog eyes she can muster. 'Dang it stop staring at me with those eyes...' And her tough yet doting sister is cracking at the seams. "Ugh fine!"

"Yay!!"

"But you're gonna help me talk to Mom and Dad. I ain't doing it alone."

"Kay." Bebe then took Brandi's hand and through the power of lo-- I mean sweets, started dragging her sister away. "See you later Sunny!"

"Woah! Slow down!" Sunny waved as the sister duo exited Sweet Heart's in a hurry. Not noticing the look of mild contempt on Sarah's face.

"Anyway now that that's taken care of, there might be enough time for one more Trick or Treat stop, but afterwards go straight home kiddos."

"Okay, thank you Ms. Hart." And with that Sunny led the group out of Sweet Hearts. Leaving Ms. Hart with one thought.

'His parents are going to have their hands full dealing with 9 kids high off of all that sugar.'

...

"So Princess, do you think we have enough candy and sweets to satisfy Onion the Beagle Dragon?"

"You heard Ms. Hart, we have enough and it's late." Ever the voice of reason, Sunny thought it was best to end their quest of sweets.

"Alright then let's--"

"Woah! Where did you get all that?!" Oh right Kim was prowling around the neighborhood ransacking the houses for all their candy.

"Sweet Hearts." Sunny replied, acknowledging the fact that Kim's mouth is watering at the sight of all the sweets. "No one went so Ms. Hart gave it all to us."

...

...

"She gave... all of it. To you?"

"Yup."

"Can I... have some?"

"Sure. What about Vance though?"

"Oh him? Who cares about him--"

"Oi." Speak of the Vance and he shall appear.

"Hey you were the one who got a cavity last week and Mom has cut how much sweets you can eat."

"Uh huh. And who was the one who got a cavity a week before me?"

"Irrelevant!" Kim yelled, remembering how her Mom enforced a No Sweets rule until Kim develops a good dental hygiene routine. She could never forget that unjust act of dictatorship. She didn't care if her teeth were white, she wanted to eat candy dang it!!

As amusing at their arguments are, their bickering is getting in the way of his last house. "Want to eat them with us?"

Hearing that got Kim's attention, "REA--"

"Ahem." Uh oh. It's the fuzz. "While that is a generous offer Sunny, they shouldn't be having a lot of sugar. So I think these two should be heading home now."

"But Mo--"

"No buts. Going to the dentist is expensive." With Kim grumbling unidentifiable words, Her and her brother trotted away back home.

"I'll make it up to you tomorrow, Kim." Sunny said, which caused Kim to lightly scoff away from him.

...

...

"You flipping better."

...

"Oh my gosh that's a lot of sweets!" Halley yelled staring at the harvest that laid out before her, "Guess the people wanted to see their Pri-- Sunny what are you doing?!"

"What? I'm taking this dress off." Sunny commented his arms already out of the sleeves. "I finished the Princess act."

"Well then go to your room you dork. Don't change out here! Especially when there's a 50/50 gender ratio!"

"Arf!" Onion barked, her costume now off and tossed to the side.

"... Make that 55/45." With a shrug, Sunny trotted upstairs to change into something more manageable.

"But Sunny's right." Kel said, taking off his straw hat, "I'm beat."

"... Well I guess you lot can stay over--"

"REALLY?!" Kel and Aubrey screamed in unison.

"Well you gotta ask for permission first." The two hyperactive kids were starting to race for the door-- "With supervision." Only to slow right down. "Right, Yamaha you go next door, I'll smooth talk it with Clementine and Ms. Holly."

"I can ask my parents mysel--"

"Yeeeeaaaaah, no. Your house is near theirs I can take you too." Halley commented, "Henry, your job is the most important of all."

Oh dang, that's a lot of pressure. "Y-Yes ma'am?"

"Make sure Mari doesn't eat all of the sweets."

"MOM!!"

"Oh and Mari make sure Onion goes to the bathroom outside." Hearing the words 'bathroom' and 'outside' made Onion hop off of the couch and trot out the open door, "Or she can do it herself."

"I trained her myself." Sunny... who has just finished taking off that dress and slipped into some nightwear apparently, made his presence known.

"Well great, now you and Sunny can do double duty." Halley commented, ignoring the embarrassed glare from Mari who clearly didn't ask to be exposed like this in front of her friends. "We'll be back in 10. See you in a bit!"

And with that, there goes our Queen.

...

"Are you serious? This is her first Halloween with her friends and you didn't even have the decency to--"

*Bzz* *Bzz*

"Ugh, look I'm getting another call. All I'm asking is that you at least TRY to be a part of Aubrey's life. Okay. Bye."

*Bzz* *Bzz* *Click*

"Hey. What's up?"

"Nothing much Clem. The kids scored a big haul of candy." Hearing that made her chest swell with pride. "And now Aubrey wants to spend the night to eat all of it and die from a sugar high. Can she?"

"Well I'm not exactly fond of the idea of my daughter dying--"

"Please Mom?!"

"... Oh, what the heck. Alright, she can."

"YAY!"

"I assume you have Basil with you. I can get her clothes set up real quick so she can come by and pick them up."

"Gotcha, I got another kid here with me. You know, Sarah?"

"The kid that Sunny put the moves on--"

"Hey I'm right here you know!" Sarah yelled, the embarrassment clear in her screech.

"Yeah the same one, I'mma see if her parents will let her stay over."

"Well good luck with that. Anyway see you later?"

"Yeah I'll swing by soon."

*Click*

...

...

"At least Halley is making this a bit easier."

...

"Look I understand dear, but it would mean a lot to Basil if you--"

"I know, but you know I can't."

...

...

"I understand."

"... Hey Mom?"

"Yes Thyme?"

"... How's my Little Babil?"

"He's made friends with Halley and Clementine's kids. He's in good hands."

"That's good... and how's--"

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

"Yo Ms. Holly! Basil wants to sleep over!"

"... Guess I better be going now."

"B--" Before Ms. Holly could respond, the line went silent.

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

"Don't tell me you kicked the bucket already!"

"I'm coming hold your horses!" Ms. Holly let that jab at her age slide as she hung up the phone and answered the door. "Hello Basil!"

"Grandma! How was trick-or-treating?"

"That's what I should be asking you, but it went well. Though a girl in a dinosaur costume came and demanded all of our candy."

'So Kim came here too.'

"Luckily Polly knows how to handle children with massive sweet tooths. Anyway how did it go for you Basil?"

"Oh it went great! We got so much candy and cookies and cake too!"

"Oh good, that means I'm packing some toothpaste for you." It was hard to bite back the laugh that bubbled up at the sight of Basil's disgusted face. "I take it you already talked to Clementine?"

"Yeah she gave the go ahead, now I gotta talk Sarah's parents then I'll swing back."

Hearing the new name she glanced down to said Sarah hiding behind Halley's leg. "Let me guess. Sunny?"

"Of course."

"Mmph." Sarah pouted at the fact that she was associated with Sunny in this fashion... again.

"Well isn't that precious. Anyway you best hurry along, even if it's a Friday Night these kids still need a bed time."

"Got it, have a good night Ms. Holly."

"... Oh and before I forget." She leaned in to whisper into Halley's ears, "You still have to come in tomorrow, so don't even think about drinking tonight."

...

...

"Killjoy."

...

*Thud*

"We're ba-- why are there more kids here?" A nightmare to any parent, seeing two more kids show up out of nowhere.

"Oh hey Mom. This is Bebe and Brandi." Sunny meanwhile just casually name dropped them as if there was absolutely nothing wrong with this. "Nana sent me the latest volume of Vegetables Vessel. It's in Japanese, want me to read them to you?"

"Yeah!" Oh wait, false alarm. They're Manga Buddies.

"My Sister is so obsessed with that story..." Brandi commented, mildly unimpressed by their love of manga.

"Says the girl who LOVES Gilmore Girls."

"Okay, alright now." Hold up there's a kerfuffle brewing... and poor Sunny is literally smack dab in the middle of it.

"Am I right Sunny? Vegetables Vessel is so much better than that stuff."

"Uhh..."

"Oh please you're expecting a boy to know what that is, not to mention knowing how great it is?"

"Well that's..." Sunny muttered, looking at his Mother for any sort of assistance.

Now Halley SHOULD be the responsible adult and break up the fight and help her Son out, but at the same tiiiiime. This could be a good time to teach him how to defend himself from any sort of argument... that and this was kinda hilarious. So with a wink Halley turned her back on her son. "Welp I'mma order some pizza, hopefully they'll still deliver this late at night." Now she couldn't see it, but she was sure Sunny had the biggest face betrayal and anguish.

"You know I'm right, don't you Sunny?" Bebe asked, tugging his arm towards her.

"Nah I know I'm right, in fact I'mma bring my DvD set of Gilmore Girls to prove it!"

"Fine! And when you get back Sunny well read all of his manga volumes of Vegetables Vessel to prove that it's better!"

"Fine!"

"Alright!!" The siblings ended their petty argument with a pout. Which Sunny was thankful for.

...

...

Until he realized that he has to sit through... lord knows how many episodes of Gilmore Girls and read... lord knows how many pages of Vegetables Vessel.

'... I'm going to need a whole lot of sugar to get through this.'

"Arf!" Sensing despair Onion hobbled her way to Sunny and laid on his lap, causing him to instinctively scritch her head.

'... Maybe it won't be so bad after all.'

Main Quest: Rescue the Fair Princess

COMPLETE!!!

Notes:

Oh thank God I'm finally done!! God this took... what 8 months to do? I mean luckily this will be out near Halloween which works out-- I mean was totally planned. Uh huh.

Anyway in case you haven't noticed I used those skin things to color coat the narration of each character, but as you've noticed I quickly got tired of it. Like it was a nice idea I had but man it was a lot of needless effort and my 0 attention span face quickly lost focus after the 15th time I did it. Anyway I'm not doing that again unless it completely elevates the story.

Anyway enough of that time to explain the story. Princess Sunny single handedly carried this Halloween Trip. That's my ruler right there. Not to mention there's some set up for what is basically Move-In Day II, but significantly shorter and more bite sized. But we will have some more interactions with the Faraway Residents, and have some new introductions.

Hopefully I'll get that one out relatively soon, because if I remember correctly, a certain Orange Joe loving boy's birthday is coming up soon, and I have something planned for it. Nothing too massive but something that I think will make people happy.

Anyway that's it. See you all later.
