Chapter Text
It was honestly amazing how easy it has been to take the medicine without getting caught, honestly he needed to have a talk with both Sam and Elliot about updating their security. Anyone with enough incentive and no regard for the law would have robbed them blind by now, good thing it was only him and it was for a noble cause more than anything.
Raven got out.
Raven.
Got.
Out...
How on earth could he have forgotten to mend the gate. that horse has gone through enough without having to deal with his mistakes. Mia was gonna really lay into him, he could already hear her ranting about him constantly messing things up, being with Marcus wasn't gonna save him from her wrath. If the moor pony wasn't in such dire need of the medicine he knows that he wouldn't have forgotten about Ravens gate. It was bad enough that he was going behind Marcus's back to steal it in the first place, he just needed more time to help the pony and then he would come clean no matter the consequences.
As he stepped out of Sams office building he saw the foreign girl leading Raven by the reins back to the stables with Sam and Marcus slowly driving behind them. Pin doesn't think hes has ever seen Raven be so well behaved for anyone that wasn't him or his dad. he could see how everyone else stopped to watch in astonishment. Now was his chance to get the medicine while they were all distracted, seriously he really should talk with Sam and Elliot about the security of the place, picking the lock to the medicine cabinet was child's play.
He quickly shoved the medication into his bag and bolted to the door when he heard someone trying to get into the office. fuck... the window it was, the bag was tossed out then he shimmied his way through the narrow opening just as Sam entered into the room. hopefully she didn't notice anything amiss. He scurried out and took a short cut to the dirt path when he thought he heard two distinctly young female voices arguing and then walking off. Thinking he was in the clear he chucked the bag through a bush.
"What the...?"
well shit.
"What?" He asked in a clipped tone.
"Nothing."
Well things certainly got awkward. The girl who brought Raven in was currently scrutinizing him. Fantastic.
"I'm wondering why you didn't use the gate." she retorted.
"Spying, are you?" He said somewhat amused.
"Spying? No, I'm not spying. I'm just passing. I'm staying with my grandpa." she implored a little defensively.
"I know." Pin said in a monotone voice, done with the conversation.
she looked at him suspiciously and hummed to her self whilst bending down to pick up and examine his discarded bag. Well he's screwed. How the hell was he gonna talk his way out of this one.
"Have a look." what the hell was wrong with him, he shrieked in his head.
"What?" she wandered out loud looking very confused and caught off guard.
"You obviously think I'm up to something. So, go on. Have a look." He smirked at her while internally screaming.
"No thanks."
"Suit yourself."
she must have gotten annoyed with him, or possibly just lost interest in their conversation. The girl took a step towards him and handed him back his bag then turned to calmly walk off. How weird. They briefly made eye contact when she looked over her shoulder back at him.
Getting home did nothing to rid him of the awkward encounter at all, he was still reeling from the whole ordeal. He could hear his dad cutting up some wood when he made it to the house.
"Looks like Frank's got guests up at the house. A woman and--"
"The girl who brought Raven in." His dad cut in.
"there's something about her." Pin said.
Ah his dad exclaimed to him, giving Pin a calculating look. Not knowing why he immediately tried to defend his intrigue with her.
"The way she handled Raven, I mean..."
His dad just sighed at him in what sounded like resignation. OH no he better not be on the verge of getting another lecture.
"Her family is trouble." His dad implored.
"You think everyone's trouble." Pin tried to joke back at him as he smiled and walked towards the house.
"Don't say I didn't warn you." He heard his dad say as he kept walking away.
"she was amazing Pete, you should've seen how calm Raven was with her." Marcus gushed over the phone to Pin.
"Oh really, please tell me more" He joked while lying in his bed with his phone to his ear.
Insecurities started to rear their ugly heads at how awestruck and excited Marcus sounded about the new girl. Great. Logically he knew that Marcus loved him and would never even entertain the idea of ever cheating on him. But that didn't stop him from feeling like He could do so much better than Pin, and that one day he would realize it. He must have noticed something in Pin's tone of voice because Marcus immediately changed the subject. They went through their nightly routine of checking in on each other's family's well being.
They couldn't wait to see each other again tomorrow. Having been together for about 2 years has done nothing to dilute their feelings for one another. Good nights and I love yous were exchanged in whispered affection. If only they knew what awaited them the next day.
