Chapter Text
"Lied-kun, you can open your eyes now."
Lied's eyes snapped open at Iruma's calm and slightly raspy(raspy? why was his voice raspy?) voice. The blonde demon pointedly ignored the bleeding carcass of the hell bear that had attacked him laying on the ground behind Iruma and instead decided to focus on his blue-haired partner. Now Lied wasn't as close to Iruma as Clara or Azz-kun was but he did know that what he was seeing did not suit Iruma.
And by that, he meant that there was blood splattered on his face and dripping from his nails.
Combined with Iruma's smile.
Okay, that was going to haunt his nightmares forever.
Iruma frowned at his horrified stare, concern lacing his bloodstained features. "Are you alright Lied-kun? Did the hell bear injure you?" Iruma, oh so ever kind, patient, sweet caring Iruma asked. Iruma, who had a heart bigger than his grandfather's reputation, Iruma, who earned their class the right to learn in the royal one, Iruma, who was ever so kind and helpful and couldn't say no to a request.
That Iruma had just killed a hell bear.
Lied doesn't know whether to laugh or to cry.
"Nah, I'm fine, you saved me after all, now let's go clean up 'kay." Lied exclaimed, taking one of Iruma's bloody hands and dragging him to the lake that was nearest to their camp. Iruma, who apparently didn't notice his bloodstained features, looked down at his red-soaked nails and blanched, eyes widening comically to the size of saucepans before going on an apologetic ramble. "I'm so sorry Lied-kun! I-I didn't mean to-I just-" Lied cut his partner off before he could continue his sentence.
"Don't sweat it."
Well, at least Iruma wasn't acting strange, Lied almost thought that Iruma would look down at his nails dripping with blood, look down at his blood-splattered face, and just turn to Lied scratching the back of his head awkwardly, turn to Lied with an embarrassed bashful expression.
Now that would have been a nightmare.

Naberius Kalego was a proud demon.
One of two demons at Babyls Academy that held the eighth rank, Chet. The guard dog of Babyls, holding the ever-feared and sought out and infamous, notorious Cerberus under his leash. With the claws of a Cerberus marked onto his back, he is a member of the great Naberius clan. Considered one of the most powerful and strongest members in the Babyls teacher community. And known as the most terrifying among the students.
Naberius Kalego was a proud demon.
Key word: was.
He was a proud demon holding his reputation as the terrifying guard dog of Babyls until the principal's brat came along. Iruma, the principal's mysterious grandson who he has never heard of until the day of the entrance ceremony, had made Naberius Kalego, his familiar.
Naberius Kalego had been demoted to a mere familiar of a fourteen-year-old boy.
Ever since everything went to shit.
That brat that fate had forced onto him was a freaking trouble magnet. By the name of Dekilla, Kalego still has absolutely no idea why trouble was attracted to Iruma like a hell moth was attracted to a glowing flame. Getting into a duel on the first day of school, chasing the rank owl away, somehow taming the guardian of the cutthroat valley, growing the unknown tree, and setting off fireworks without any permission at the Batra festival.
That damned evil cycle.
And then Walter Park came and any hopes of Iruma not being a trouble magnet came burning and crashing down like most of the attractions at the amusement park. That incident alone left Kalego bedridden with a head-splitting migraine for days on end. Kalego felt a tick mark make its way onto his forehead as he spread his wings and made his way to the described location.
Some brainless, probably desperate intruder described as dressed in a black and white shirt had broken into Babyls Harvest Festival for Derkilla knows what. He seriously wonders if this intruder was just plain stupid or if the intruder just wanted to die that badly. Perhaps it was both, actually, it was probably both. Kalego pushed his wings further and increased his flying speed.
Better deal with it now than later.
Kalego landed on the ground, scanning his surroundings. The place was just as described, surrounded by tall trees, a few rocks thrown here and there, and a deep ditch that probably wasn't even supposed to be there. The rank eight demon narrowed his eyes, keeping his guard up as he continued to analyze his suspiciously empty and quiet surroundings.
Then he heard it.
A low, guttural growl that came out of nowhere. It was a sound that Kalego was extremely familiar with, growing up forced to try and tame the arguably unholiest and most violent monster, the arguably most demonic creature in the history of the Netherworld to exist, the Cerberus did that to you. Kalego recognized that sound as the sound of an animal that was ready to rip somebody's heart out.
Cerberus in all its golden glowing glory popped out behind him as he summoned the three-headed dog. Kalego did not want to deal with a wild animal along with an idiotic intruder but sometimes you had no choice. Kalego cautiously approached some trees, making silent movements while traveling through the growth of trees and bushes and dead leaves he avoided stepping on.
Distressed screams that were slightly muffled and gurgled out by guttural animalistic growls became clearer and clearer, and Kalego's nails dug into his palms, his guard raising higher and higher. A large rock came into his view, blood splattered on it.
Kalego's jaw tensed, rushing up to the rock, expecting the worse-
Iruma, the damned brat who was the damned principals' grandson, was on top of another demon, crouched on all fours with his back raised to the sky. Iruma's face was shadowed over, eyes a flaming glow like a nocturnal predator on a hunt. His nails, which were already soaked in red blood that was definitely not his were digging into the flesh of the demon he was on. His teeth were barred like fangs and splattered with blood not belonging to him.
What in the name of Derkilla?
The demon under his blue-haired student was crying and screaming. Kalego recognized the demon as the intruder based on the demon's unfamiliar face and matching description of a white and black striped shirt. Blood was pouring out of the scratch wounds inflicted on his body, bite marks scarring his flesh. "STOP! STOP! I" SORRY PLEASE STOP!" the intruder screamed, feeling nails dig into his neck.
Iruma's eyes seemed to glow even more, reeling back a bit before snarling out another guttural, animalistic, predatory growl that promised pain. Iruma's head jerked forward, mouth opening and his teeth latched onto the intruder's throat. His canines dug into the tender flesh, and even more of the intruder's blood splattered onto his previously white teeth.
The intruder 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘥.
Kalego lunged forward, forgetting all about his original task of bringing the intruder to their knees, and instead focused on Iruma. His hand grabbed the back of Iruma's collar and forcefully pulled Iruma off the intruder. Kalego raised his other hand, preparing for Iruma to start attacking him in his predatory state.
He didn't.
Instead, the young demon stopped thrashing about wildly, eyes returning back to normal as Iruma looked at Kalego with a confused look on his face. "Kalego-sensei? What are you doing here?" the blue-haired student asked innocently as if he hadn't just been trying to rip out another demon's throat with his teeth. He seemed not to notice the blood dripping from his nails, splattered on his teeth and face.
Kalego heaved a tired sigh, this brat was going to be the death of him. "I came because I got a report that an intruder had got in and was casting illusion spells on the students." the teacher explained, massaging his temples. Iruma seemed to notice the blood splatter on his features because his eyes widened and he pulled out a handkerchief from Derkilla knows where and wiped off the blood.
"Just go continue gaining points brat, I'll deal with this." Kalego sighed, stalking over to the bleeding intruder. He grabbed the back of the foolish intruder's shirt, unfolding his wings and flying off with the imbecile of a demon that was the intruder who had the guts to break into the Babyls Harvest Festival Glowing eyes, barred teeth, bloodstained features, and animalistic snarls materialized in his mind again.
He was going to have to talk to that fool of a principal again, wasn't he?
(Later, Kalego would view that live footage recorded from the Harvest Festival and promptly slam the door of the principal's office open, splintering the doors in the process with the tape containing the footage in hand, the demonic history teacher would then slam the tape onto the wooden desk that principal used, not caring in the slightest as Opera's ears folded in slightly while he yelled, "What in the name of Derkilla is wrong with your grandchild!" before stomping off without saying another word.)
(In the end, all of the instructors would be traumatized and also slightly terrified while Kalego would be both angry and while the demon wouldn't admit it, concerned about the strange behavior of one Suzuki Iruma displayed during the Harvest Festival, A teary eyes Sullivan and an Opera with folded ears would coddle a very confused Iruma who would be bombarded with questions regarding his mental wellbeing and whether he felt safe in the Netherworld or not. Iruma and his classmates would then be bewildered by the extra eye that their terrifying homeroom teacher was keeping on Iruma, "What did you do?" Jazz would question while Iruma would answer an "I don't know!" in a slightly panicked voice. The instructors, Kalego, Opera, Sullivan and Lied never mentioned a thing about Iruma's predator mode.)
