Chapter Text

It was the beginning of the third week of classes at the multi-arts school.

Enough time had passed for the students to get to know each other and establish friendly and trusting relationships.

So the moment came that all the teachers and some students were longing for.

"You need to elect your class president and vice president!"

Enthusiastically indicated one of the general class teachers.

Of course, the teachers of the specialty classes also had their own class presidents and vice presidents, although these were chosen from among those who already held those positions in their general classes.

Actually, every professor loved to have one or two students in charge of having the rest of the class greet them respectfully, call the attendance roll, help them with carrying study materials, among other things.

But the way they convinced students to run for those positions was by using good words.

"Every class needs a leader to help them solve the problems they face, as well as inform the student council of their own ideas for events that happen during the school year. It should be emphasized that this is a job executed by responsible people, but it will be rewarded on their student record and will help them tremendously in gaining admission to the best colleges."

'Yes, of course.'

Even if the professor tried to seduce the students, those words were not honey to Park Moondae's ears.

Although this was the best option that increased the odds of his admission to the university he longed for in the future, he didn't want to keep an eye on his class work.

'I just have to study. I have to keep my grades up.'

He could not fail.

For if he did, he would lose his half scholarship to this prestigious school.

And that would expose him to losing this incredible new life opportunity he suddenly got.

"So, we need three candidates. Who would like to participate?"

The professor got a long silence from the class in response.

Irritated and seeing that his class hour was about to end, the teacher challenged them.

"I didn't know I had students with so little self-confidence. Surely you are used to having others do your homework. Tsk, and so you take pride in yourselves?"

Immediately, the class maknae raised his hand.

"I'll apply, teacher!"

"Oh, thank you for participating, Choi Wongil-ssi. I'm glad my words have motivated you."

As Choi Wongil smiled proudly, and some of his classmates looked at him unhappily, another student raised his hand.

"Very good, Ha Iljoon-ssi, with you we already have two candidates."

Breaking out in a cold sweat, the oldest classmate shook his head and refuted.

"N-not so, professor. I wanted to recommend Lee Sejin as a candidate as he is the one who has proven to have the greatest leadership qualities among all of us."

"...!!"

"Oh, I don't know whether or not to accept that recommendation, but what do you think, Lee Sejin-ssi?"

"...Uh, to tell you the truth, I wasn't confident enough to apply, but if Iljoon hyung and the other guys agree, I'll accept the challenge~!"

"Wohooo!!"

"I trust you, Sejin-ah!"

At the affirmative response and cheers from the majority of classmates, the teacher accepted Lee Sejin as the second participant for the position of class president.

"So, who else would like to apply? We need one more person, do you have any other recommendations?"

Seeing that no one else thought to raise their hand, the teacher continued with the recommendations and soon the room was filled with noisy students suggesting Seon Ahyeon, Lee Dojun and Park Moondae.

Noticing that many of the girls were nominating Seon Ahyeon and he was visibly distressed, Lee Sejin raised his hand and proposed someone close to him.

"Professor, in these past two weeks, I have met someone fully capable of performing the duties of a class president. Someone talented not only in his major, but also in general courses, so I would like to compete with him for that position!"

"Oh, who is it?"

The professor had both Seon Ahyeon and Park Moondae in mind, as both were very skilled, although one had better communication skills than the other.

"I propose a person who is quiet and focused on his studies, but who is a reliable friend named Park Moondae."

The noises were not long in coming between those who laughingly commented 'Moon Puppy' and the complaints of Seon Ahyeon's fans.

Amidst the chaos, the teacher asked Park Moondae whether or not to approve his postulation.

'Shit.'

Park Moondae obviously wanted to refuse.

Despite the advantages it would have on his future record, he didn't plan to accept it.

However, the bright eyes of a beautiful face looking at him hopefully from across the classroom made him swallow his saliva.

'No... I mustn't.'

"What is your final decision, Park Moondae-ssi?"

The precious boy trembled in fear every time they squealed his name to postulate him instead of Park Moondae, so the black-haired boy closed his eyes tightly so as not to see him in that state anymore as every time he did, he felt pressure in his heart.

But he couldn't hold it in any longer.

'Don't be a coward!'

"I... accept."

Satisfied, the teacher silenced the class and indicated that they should make their propagandas with their classmates because the vote to elect the class president and vice president would be held the following week.

And holding back a sigh, Park Moondae thought his mission was accomplished.

'I did Seon Ahyeon a favor.'

Then, he didn't need to do anything else.

He had no intention of promoting himself as he was confident that Lee Sejin and Choi Wongil would end up filling those positions.

But it did not occur to him that other people would take it upon themselves to promote him instead.

Notes:

Finally we got to this mini arc that I was planning to write from the beginning. Thanks for leaving your kudos and comments, that motivates me to continue!!

I did some research on class presidents and student council in South Korea as they have their own rules. I didn't find usual election date, so I left it at the end of March :( although I understand that there are two elections per school year.

PS: In my country there is no system of class presidents or student council (only in universities). In some of the schools I attended there were class delegates, but their functions were very basic (to communicate notices from teachers and to see that everyone attends the events and does not get lost or run away from them). Anyway, I have very vague memories of those years... so, excuse me if I don't give a more detailed explanation of that system.
