Chapter Text
Silence, like taking a deep breath and holding it for just a little while longer. The air was fresh in Chinju forest, the sky cast a purple glow over the trees. Although you had only been here for a week or so, it felt so similar to hole that you couldn’t just leave. Once you had ben given the mora from Amenoma Tougo, you decided to save the house hunting for the weekend. You did have work to do, of course.
But the weekend came and went like the wind. You had found a house, one came up for sale in Konda Village. It wasn’t expensive at all, and you could cover around a month and a half of rent.
One last goodbye was imminent.
So here you were, sitting on a rock in Chinju Forest, enjoying the scenery. You closed your eyes, taking in a few deep breaths. It wasn’t often that you felt totally aware. After a few busy days, it gets easy to lose yourself in the flow of work and time. Just letting yourself sit there and…realise. You were actually here. In Narukami Island. Reality sank like a flooding boat. Everything you had wished for had come true-yes you missed your parents, but you could always see them again. And perhaps it wouldn’t be long until you found yourself in a different Nation entirely.
As you opened your eyes, a flash of blue covered your vision making you nearly fall off of the rock you sat on. After stabilising yourself with the palm of your hand, you looked up. A man with light blue hair smiled at you. He tilted his head, a little confused as to your reaction. “Archons…you really can’t sneak up on people like that!” You scolded in a joking manner. Whoever this guy was, he definitely didn’t know how to properly speak to people.
An airy chuckle escaped from his mouth and he leant his head back slightly. “My apologies…i was just wondering what you were doing here in Chinju Forest?” He studies your face for a little while longer before narrowing his eyes. “Now that i think of it…i’ve never actually seen you before. Where are you from?” What ever happened to hello?
”I’m from Tsurumi Island…I’m Y/n.” You held out your hand to shake, smiling just a little. His eyes widened, just enough for you to notice before he took your hand slowly and shaking it. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, I’m Ka-..I’m Ayato.” He coughed once before finishing, nodding and pulling his hand away.
He definitely had odd mannerisms. The way he held himself was nothing like the locals you saw. His face was perfect, but not too perfect that it was uncanny…just..as if he was made of pure porcelain.
You stood up, looking around the Forest. “Well if you excuse me, Ayato. I must get going..” You said with a small smile. Afterall, he was just a random stranger. His expression froze a little before he spoke. “I can..walk you? If you like? It gets pretty dangerous around this time of day..” He spoke with a small amount of confidence, hut you knew what he was saying was false. It’s not as if you hadn’t been walking up and down here each day for the past week. But part of you found it…enticing. So you nodded, and the two of you made your way down the path and into the open.
“So..do you live around here?” You asked, smiling at him. He shrugged, thinking of an answer. “Just in Inazuma city…it’s a rather small house..” You pouted slighty. His sense of style definitely made him look rich. Like…noble rich. Rich rich.
“But you’re so…fancy?” You said in reply. He was silent for a little while before answering. “Ah..i work at a Taylor. Any clothing made for richer people, which was never collected, i get to keep.” His answer seemed rather legit, so you just nodded along.
Eventually, you made it to your new house in Konda Village. It was a nice size, big enough for you. “Ill see you around some time?” He said to you before you gave you salutations. You hesitated before nodding, smiling and shutting the door behind you.
As you walked around your new house, you picked up a basic sword which Tougo gave you since he had spares. As you touched the hilt, you couldn’t help but think back to that man, Ayato. And back to that delivery you sent to the Kamisato residency.
But, all in all, Ayato was nice. You hadn’t really made many friends (except for Yoimiya and Hajime, of course) Perhaps it would be nice to have someone new to talk to.
Morning came quickly, the sun shining through sections of your window.
A new day. A new day of your new life.
