Work Text:
Molly enters the living room to find Nick sitting and watching some television show that Molly would never voluntarily watch in a million years but the only real thing she can think about is that she's so freaking glad Nick feels comfy enough to be doing it at the house so for that reason alone it might just be Molly's new favourite show.
It takes about two minutes for Nick to either notice or at least acknowledge her, "Hey Molls, what's up?"
Molly takes a seat next to her, "The parentals wanted me to let you know that if you ever wanted to invite your friend, Riley was it? To stay for a few days or something you totally can"
"Oh uh, tell them thanks but I haven't reached out to her since that night so it might be a kind of weird thing to do"
"You haven't?"
Nick turns to her, so that the two of them are sitting on the couch, facing each other, "I guess I can kind of be a bit of a chicken"
"I never thought I could agree with you about that but yeah I guess you can. It seemed like she really cared about you and would forgive you if you explained the situation and if she doesn't send her to me and I will give her a talking to"
"A shovel talk if you will"
"Exactly!" Molly giggles
"Well, I think that kind of talk should've been from before we kissed but yeah, same kind of thing?"
"You kissed Riley?"
Nick's face goes still, like she hadn't quite realised what she had said, "Oh I mean, just when we were kids, it's not anything real. So sorry."
"Hey hey hey there, nothing to apologise for" and she takes Nick's hand in hers, attempting to settle her in a way one might do to a feral horse, "I'm really glad you felt comfortable enough right then to say that to me even if it was on accident and by the way there was nothing in that statement that you needed to apologise for"
Nick squeezes her hand back and almost says something but a laugh track comes out of the television and the two realise where they are and Molly almost retracts her hand but finds that she doesn't want to. At all.
