Chapter Text
"The time has come for the decisive battle." Loid announced.
"Welp, that's a dramatic start." Becky stated.
"Inventory, check." He instructed.
Yor checked her bag, "All good."
"Appearances, check." He asked
Yor patted her hair then fixed Anya's clothes, "All good."
"You're so serious, it's like you guys were preparing for war." Becky said.
“Well we kind of are,” Loid commented with a small chuckle.
"Language, check."
Anya stiffened, "Don't worry, Sir! I got it, Sir!" She said, tensely.
Some of them laughed at that.
“Though this is nothing reassuring. We've done all we could.” Loid thought.
“This is correct,” Mr. Henderson said, “And you are truly elegant for that!”
The scene changed to Eden academy, where millions of people were entering the gates. They gazed at the school in awe for a moment before entering.
Mr. Henderson smiled like a proud father.
“This feeling...There's no mistaking it. I've already felt this same sensation many times. Someone is watching over me. ” Loid thought.
"What?" Damian and Becky both asked. Both were annoyed they hadn't noticed.
"You knew?" Mr.Henderson asked in shock.
"Yes." Loid said flatly
Yor began to notice the feeling as well, but her feeling was confirmed when Loid spotted all of them internally and announced that it was the school professors who were watching them.
Thank god I didn't do anything stupid. Becky thought relieved.
Damian huffed, "You were all spying on us?" he asked, a bit annoyed for some reason.
"Well yeah, we need to know who's elegant enough to join." Mr. Henderson pointed out.
The scene changed to the professors spying on the families, "They're all lacking elegance." Mr. Henderson announced.
"Good morning, Master!" They all greeted each other.
Becky rolled her eyes, Elegance~ ugh. She thought
"I am displeased just to have those crude footsteps trampling on our elite Eden Academy's grounds. Elegance makes tradition. Elegance is indeed what makes the world of man a paradise. Be sure to disqualify all families that are inelegant." He rambled.
“What qualifies as elegant??” Franky asked.
“You wouldn’t understand,” Mr. Henderson said with a sniff.
He leaned in as if something caught his interest. They're paying respect to the statue of the first headmaster?! Mr. Henderson thought, shocked.
Anya perked up, “I remember that statue! He was-
I, Twilight, am a man of a thousand faces. Becoming exactly the person my target wants me to be is mere child's play. Behold! Loid thought.
I haven't the slightest clue as to who this gentleman is, but everything should be fine as long as I do what Loid is doing . Yor thought
Baldy head! Anya thought.
“Baldy Head!” Anya said in real life, just as excitedly.
Loid slapped his forehead while everyone else laughed, other than Damian and Fiona who scoffed.
“Who are those people???” Mr. Henderson asked.
“K 212,” One of the instructors answered, “Their daughter Anya just barely passed the written exam with a score of 31.”
"What." Damian asked flatly. “How did you pass with that kind of score???”
“Absolutely not elegant! And such awful penmanship!” Mr. Henderson exclaimed in horror.
Anya blushed in embarrassment. “I promise, I'll do better!!!” She exclaimed passionately.
“So much like sis!!” Yuri thought happily, “ I hope she won’t take after that rotten spy!” At that thought, he scowled. Then he saw Anya looking at him in confusion and quickly masked his expression.
“So the father has remarried?” Mr. Henderson asked suspiciously.
“Yes,” One of the instructors answered, “Might they be an impromptu family for admission purposes?”
“I am not certain. We must investigate.” Mr. Henderson replied.
“They're smarter than they let on,” All the spies thought, “We must be more careful around them!”
The Forgers reached the gate where the admission numbers were being checked.
“We're still being observed. Don't let your guard down.” Loid said
“It's so nerve-racking being watched like this…” Yor muttered nervously.
“ I need to pick my nose.” Anya exclaimed.
“Absolutely not.” Loid exclaimed sternly.
“Why do people pick their noses anyway??” Becky asked in confusion.
“Strange habit,” Loid responded,” Don’t start,” he quickly added when he saw Becky reaching up to her nose to try it.
“Why would you try it???” Damian asked in bewilderment to Becky,”Humph, such a disgrace!” He added, turning away from her and sticking his nose up. Becky just rolled her eyes.
“Oh, no!” A boy called, "I've accidentally fallen into the gutter, and I can't get out!”
“Uh... That's too blatant if they're trying to test us, but no one is trying to go near him.” Loid thought.
“Ah, I don't know what I should do.” The boy called again, obviously pretending. “Who knew there'd be a gutter here?”
“But if he is part of the test, we must deal with this accordingly,” Loid decided.
Handler slapped her forehead,” You know that's a trap Twilight!!!” She was the closest to yelling they had ever heard her speak, “What if it ruined your chances!!!”
“It all worked out, don’t worry!!” Anya said with a big smile, oblivious to Handler's tone of voice.
Loid gestured to Anya and she grinned.
“Papa! Mama! There is someone who needs our help, Let us save him!”
“NOOO, IT’S A TRAP!!!” Practically everyone in the theatre yelled.
“Don’t you think we know that?” Loid deadpanned.
The boy continued to pretend and flop around while the Forgers ran up to him, but stopped when mud nearly got on their clothes.
“ Precisely.” Mr. Henderson thought, “You're heading to an interview. You wouldn't dare sully your clothes with sewage. Now, how will you elegantly get through this?”
“That was actually a good test!” Handler thought, “We could take inspiration for our test for recruits.”
“Are you hurt?” Loid asked.
“Use my hanky, please!” Anya said, offering her handkerchief.
“Awwwwwww,” Almost everyone said in unison.
“Clearly, I expected too much,” Mr. Henderson thought. In the end, they were just some commoners from the countryside. “Do not think for a second that you can set foot in our house of learning wearing soiled clothes.”
“Throw K-212 out immediately.” Mr. Henderson declared, turning around and walking away from the window.
“NOOOOOOOO,” Becky moaned, reaching over and shaking Anya back and forth.
“WA!!” Anya squealed in alarm.
“Oh, no... These people are going to fail because of me!” The boy panicked. “Um, I'm so sorr-”
“Thank goodness we anticipated this and prepared a change of clothes just in case!” Yor said in relief, and the Forgers are now shown with new clothes.
“WHAT THE-”
“Who in the world would ever anticipate that?!” Mr. Henderson asked in utter bewilderment.
“Same here!!!” Becky said in utter bewilderment as well.
“Good job Twilight.” Handler said approvingly.
“That was so hot!!” Fiona thought in amazement.
“I still don’t know how you anticipated that!!” Mr. Henderson exclaimed.
“If I had continued wearing my previous suit, we would've been mistaken for commoners from the countryside!” Loid said. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to change, lad.
“On top of everything else, they even thanked the boy!” Mr. Henderson thought in amazement.
“Brilliant... So smart, and elegant! Curse you and your cunning, Loid Forger!!”
Everyone burst into laughter.
“Housemaster, we are supposed to be testing the child.” One of the teachers tried to say.
“Silence!” the housemaster raises his hand, “Children learn from their parents' example! Yes. The parents of a child who scores 31 points must also be only worth 31 points! I'll make you reveal your true identity!” He glares down at the Forgers.
“It’s almost like you don’t want Anya as your student!” Damian commented.
Mr. Henderson coughed nervously.
“Oh, no!” A man screamed,” The animals have escaped the farmhouse!”
How far is this going to go??” Franky asked in annoyance and bewilderment.
“Oh I remember that!!” Damian said, “My mother was furious when he heard about it!
“Your parents weren't with you at the test??” Anya asked him in concern and confusion.
Loid quickly started to play the video again to spare Damian.
Damian shot Loid a grateful look.
People screamed in the background.
“Are they trying to see if we reveal our true selves in an emergency? We'll be playing right into the examiners' hands if we panic.” Loid thought
“Hey, who told you to go that far?!” Mr. Henderson demanded.
“Wait... It wasn't you, Housemaster?” One of the instructors asked in confusion.
“Impossible! Is this… an actual accident?!” Mr. Henderson panicked. “There are some very important people among the examinees! Go stop this mess before they're hurt!”
WAIT, THAT WASN'T A TEST??” Becky whirled on Mr. Henderson and began using some very foul language.
Yor and Loid covered the rest of the kid's ears while the other adults tackled Becky and dragged her back into her seat, with Becky kicking and screaming in annoyance the entire time.
It took a long time for Becky to calm down, and Mr. Henderson didn’t even bother to scold Becky because he was too shocked.
A small boy is running next to some men, but he trips and falls, “Wait! Father!” The kid can’t get up and the animals are almost about to hit him. However, Loid manages to run, grab the boy and save him, just in time.
“Well done, you!” The man thanks Loid as he quickly hugs his son and runs off.
“That was awesome!!!” Becky cheers.
“Papa’s the best!!” Anya said, looking very smug.
Yor comes runs over holding Anya who had fainted again. “Loid! It's happening to Miss Anya again!”
“The mass panic must've hit her.” Loid concludes. “The test is the last thing I need to worry about now.”
A cow is now shown, charging toward them.
Yuri gasps nervously and clings onto his sister.
“I feel sorry for that cow!” Damian said. Everyone else agreed.
“That must be the leader of this herd.” Loid says as he looks at the bull coming toward them. “That's the one I need to stop, but I'll have to use my gun- No…”
Before he can even say anything else, Yor hands him Anya.
“Please look after Miss Anya for a moment,” Yor asked, turning away to face the animal. In one split second, she charged at it, touching three spots in its body to then land neatly behind it, the cow fell straight down with a loud thud. She stood up with a flourish, before starting to panic.
“I-It's not what you think! I once learned about pressure points that can stop one's movements in a yoga class! I-I figured they might work on cows, too! Please don't look at me like that!
“How did you not figure it out???” Handler demanded, glaring at Loid.
“There is only one explanation!!” Becky exclaimed, and everyone looked at her. After a dramatic pause she hollered, “THEY ARE IN LOVE!!”
“A burst of noise erupted, agreement came from both Anya and Franky, Anger from Fiona and Yuri, Panic from Yor, Denial from Loid, and confusion from everyone else. To avoid further confrontation, Loid turned on the episode again.
“Ms. Cow?” Anya asked, kneeling beside it, apparently recovering now that the crowd was gone. “Are you scared?”
“That's dangerous, Anya!” Loid exclaimed. What are you-”
The animals stood up, and turned around, walking back to their pen.
“Thankfully, no one was hurt.” Loid sighed in relief.
“So that’s why it stopped!” Damian exclaimed,”I thought we just passed the test!”
Becky turned around and did the I’m watching you sign to Mr. Henderson.
“Ele-le... Ele-le… ELEGANCE!!!” Mr. Henderson exclaimed, running down the steps and down onto the street, screeching around and facing the forgers and the forgers turned around.
No one knew how to react to this so no one reacted at all as a result of bewilderment.
“He's... one of the housemasters-” Loid thought to himself. “Is he in charge of this exam?”
As Mr. Henderson tried to regain his breath, he looked up at the Loid "Y-You helped us avoid a crisis. I thank you. And... you have bested me for today." At those words, Loid, Anya and Yor’s faces turned confused. "To give us all time to collect ourselves after this chaos, we will be delaying the start of the interviews by one hour. Return to your hall once you've had a moment to tidy yourselves." He then turned halfway, "Your family has earned the right to apply to our school."
“YAYYYY” Becky cheered, everyone else was also relieved, even though they all knew the Forgers passed anyway.
"I humbly thank you for your generosity" Loid begins as the headmaster begins to turn away, "But have no fear. We anticipated something like this...and prepared another change of clothes!" Mr Henderson turned around. Now faced with Anya, Yor and Loid all tidy again.
“How- just how-” Becky asked, “I NEED TO LEARN THAT TECHNIQUE. Everyone sweat dropped.
“Who in their holy elegance would anticipate something like this!?” Mr. Henderson had a look of panic written over his face, “This isn't about elegance anymore! These people are just scary!”
I have a new respect for you guys getting Mr. Henderson out of his Elegance drama!!” Becky laughed.
“I know right!!” Anya laughed.
The scene changed to an interview room.
''You truly thought you could apply to our school without even knowing that?"
''Huh?” the boy being interviewed asks, panic written over his face.
''Well? Cat got your tongue?'' One of the inspectors was taunting him. But the boy began to cry.
"Huh? Um, uh..."
Yor stood up, a darkening aura around her as she turned towards Mr. Henderson.
Mr. Henderson sighed, not even intimidated at this point, knowing he deserved it.
“Isn’t that the boy from the stampede??” Damian asked in surprise. “ I never thought this is how the interviews with the lower classes went, when I went to the interview that guy had been the nicest! Though that’s probably because of my father….. “
The Forgers are now shown waiting for their turn, then the other family comes out with the little boy very close to tears.
"Thank you very much." The dad says as he closes the door, almost immediately he starts to scold the child, "What kind of answer was that?!" The boy starts to cry again.
“It’s not his fault!!!” Yor exclaimed angrily. There was a chorus of agreement.
“I've been a spy for over a decade,” Loid thought to himself, “and for the first time... I'm actually nervous. The fear of letting someone else decide my success or failure…”
"Next, the Forgers!" A voice calls from inside the room, Anya immediately gets up with a quiet, “yes!”
'Yes, this is definitely going to be... the most crucial moment of Operation Strix!' Loid thinks to himself as he walks into the room.
Anya immediately tenses up upon seeing this and Yor and Loid both notice.
“You don’t have to watch this again if you don’t want to Anya.” Loid muttered quietly.
“It’s fine!” Anya said, trying to look as brave as possible. Unfortunately, the conversation did not go unnoticed. Anya, detecting their stare, hugs Bond and he whimpers, attempting to comfort her.
"Thank you for having us." Loid says as he sits down.
“So you've come, Forgers.” Mr. Henderson thinks to himself.
"First, we will begin by asking the parents a few questions." An older gentleman said with kind eyes. “Walter Evans Housemaster. The housemaster of Dorm 5, Malcom Hall. Mild-mannered, sincere, and conservative. The students are very fond of him. As long as we respond with sincere, logical answers, we'll score highly with him.” Loid analyses.
“That was correct,” Handler confirms.
“I want your memory!” Emile exclaims.
“Don’t we all?” Damian mutters.
"I was informed that this is your second wife. May I ask how you two met?" Evans asks.
"I met my wife at the tailor shop that handles this school's uniforms, and I was in awe of her grace. Ever since I lost my first wife, I was hesitant to pursue another relationship because of my daughter. But the more we spoke, the more I felt that she was a kindred spirit. She is truly kind and cares dearly about family. I came to the conclusion that she'd get along well with my daughter." Loud quickly replies.
"Ah... And what about you, Madam?" he asks.
"Well..." She tilts her head to the side and responds with a very polite, gentle and beautiful look on her face. "L-Loid is a wonderful person who truly cares for his daughter. He's also very considerate of me."
“Awwwww” Becky squeals.
Walter seems satisfied however someone else is not.
"Why would a beautiful girl like you choose to be with a man who's got baggage?" A fat, lazy looking man said, frowning yet teasing when he asked that question. Thankfully, Mr. Henderson intervened, "That was rather uncouth, Master Swan."
Becky scowled, “It’s him!! The guy who made the other kid cry!”
Everyone glowered at the screen.
Loid analyses that man as well, though he seems a bit more annoyed.
Could you tell us why you chose to apply to our school?" Walter moves on quickly.
Loid thinks about his real mission but answers that the staff is supposedly great and the teaching is supposedly top.
“Elegantly done, Loid Forger. I knew I saw potential in you.” Mr. Henderson internally praises.
“I can’t tell whether you like Loidy or not….” Yuri muttered.
The conversation shifts to Anya as they talk about her strengths and weaknesses.
“Intelligent?! Her?! ” After seeing her test score, Mr. Henderson did not trust Anya's intelligence.
Yor scowled and Mr. Henderson tried to get as far away from her as possible.
“Ah... And how would you describe your parenting style, Madam?”
Yor takes a deep breath, “As you already know, I am not her biological mother. At first, I spoiled her quite often in hopes that she would like me. But for the sake of her future, I'm hoping I can become a bit stricter at times.”
“Anya hopes mama doesn't become strict!” Anya declares.
“I agree!” Yuri agrees.
“We've been told that your daughter is a picky eater.” He continues, looking back at his board. “What kind of meals do you cook at home?” This catches Yor off guard. “Huh? C-Cook? Um…”
“I actually do most of the cooking.” Loid intervenes, “Though when I'm busy, my wife is kind enough to cook for me.”
“You're joking! What kind of wife can't cook for her husband?!” The rude instructor exclaims insultingly “You should probably be stricter with yourself before you worry about that child!”
“Oh no, here we go…” Handler thinks. She only hopes Twilight kept his temper.
“Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. She is extremely tidy and excels at keeping our house spotless.” Loid’s tone has now gotten a bit more icy. “She is also an excellent mother to my daughter.”
“Yes, well, both of those are things women are expected to do.” That comeback obviously makes Loid even angrier.
“That's—”
“I-It's all right, Loid.” Yor quickly says.
“Now, now…” Mr. Evans attempts to calm Loid down.
“Yes. Calm down.” Twilight scolds himself, “Why are you getting irritated, Twilight? She's not even your real wife.”
“Legally no, mindset….” Handler thinks.
“I never realised they were this close!! Fiona thinks in surprise.
“A lovey-dovey hot couple? You make me sick,” Mr. Swan looked at them with disgust and clear jealousy all over his face. “I'll keep jabbing at you until you slip up. If I can't make sure these two fail, there's clearly no justice in this world. ”
Anya reads his mind, “ He doesn't like Papa and Mama! I need to do my best!” her eyes immediately fill with determination.
“You're strange….. In a good way.” Damian mutters in embarrassment. Anya looks at him in surprise.
“N-Next, let's ask the young lady some questions.” Mr. Evans turns to Anya who once again, straightens up again immediately.
“First, could you tell us your name and address?”
“My name is Anya Holger! My address is in... Berlint, West District...128 Park... Avenue!”
“And what do you do on your days off, young lady?” Mr. Evans asks gently.
“We go to moozeums… and eat operas…”
Loid seems pleased with the response and as such he approves of it with a “Good. These were questions we anticipated.”
“What would you like to do once you get into this school?” Anya panicked.
“In my case, I first need to participate in a social gathering, and get to the bottom of what the boss of the enemy organisation, Desmond, is planning.” Loid could not help himself thinking, and ended up answering in his mind instead. Anya took the chance and immediately replied with his answer. “I-I want to find out what the boss of the organisation is planning!”
“How did I not catch on right then and there!!” Yor moaned. It seemed so obvious how many times Anya had slipped up now.
‘What in the world are you saying?! Hello?!’ Loid panicked internally.
“The boss of the organisation? Maybe you meant the headmaster.” The Professor directing the interview asked.
“I apologize. My daughter is rather ambitious. She's extremely curious about the headmaster, since he's clearly made it to the top.” Loid managed to clarify.
“That was close!!” Becky exclaimed. “How many times did you mess up like that??”
“Ehe…” Anya winced.
“Oho... The desire to learn from her predecessors at such an early age…” Mr. Henderson thought to himself, “That's quite elegant.” he mused, then turned his face to look at Anya. “Do you happen to know the name of the principal, young lady?”
“Um, B-Be…” She began, once again, interrupted by her father’s thoughts. “Yes. Benedict Ivan Goodfellow.” She looked at Mr. Henderson. “Mr. Benedick Advent Goodheller.”
“Close enough,” Loid sighed.
Yor giggled.
“Let's change the subject. What does your father do for a living?” Mr. Evans asked.
“He's a sp—a speshulist in mental health. A very good one.”
“How many close calls were in this interview??!!!” Becky asked in amazement.
No one answered.
“Hm? Poor thing, she seems to be stuffed up,” Mr. Evans thinks. “Then how do you feel about your new mother?”
"She is very nice." Anya said happily, the phrase had originally brought a smile to Yor's face, "But she's scary sometimes!" immediately made her frown in that hilarious way of hers.
The frown made Yuri smile fondly.
"If you were to give your parents a score, what might that be?" Swan asked maliciously.
“Oh no… Something bad’s about to happen isn’t it??” Becky asked nervously.
Mr. Henderson winced, he knew what was going to happen and he wasn’t proud of it.
"A perfect 100 points!" Anya exclaimed happily, "My Papa and Mama are both so much fun, and I love them very much! I want to be with them forever!" Both Yor and Loid blushed softly- staring surprised at Anya.
“Tch. God, no one needs this rubbish.” Swan thought to himself. "In that case, would you score your old mother or your new mother higher?''
Anya buried her face in Bond’s fur and he attempted to comfort her as best he could. Meanwhile, the rest of the room had exploded in anger around her.
"Come now, Master Swan..." Walter said, obviously not liking the question.
"Is there a problem?" The man asked in a challenging tone.
"May I respectfully request a different question?" Loid asked coldly.
"Absolutely not. If you do not answer, you will lose points."
“Why is that guy even there????????” Becky demanded angrily.
“Well…..” Mr. Henderson sighed.
“Never mind. I don’t want to hear it.” Becky snapped, turning away and attempting to comfort Anya, who was on the verge of crying into Bond’s fur.
“I don't know exactly how she ended up in that orphanage,” Loid thought to himself, “but her actual parents are probably already…”
"Ma...ma..." The tiny voice broke everyone out of their frozen stand, Anya's cheeks were covered in tears now, as she did not even seem to be able to realise she had started crying.
“The room, which had already been bubbling with rage, spilled over and everyone started shouting at once.
“WHAT KIND OF MAN MAKES A CHILD CRY!!!”
“WHY DID NONE OF THE TEACHER INTERVENE!??”
“THAT WAS UNCALLED FOR!!”
Mr. Henderson was getting a lot of blame as well. Not that he minded, he deserved it.
Meanwhile, Anya with that harsh question being replayed, combined with everyone's shouting and raging thoughts, began to sob.
Becky, Yor, Loid and even Franky all quickly went to comfort her.
“I never realised that people were so harsh to her for being a commoner!” Damian thought guiltily.
It took a long time for everyone to calm down. The air was very tense afterward, Handler even gave Anya some peanuts, reminded of her own daughter.
"Anya..." Loid whispered, Yor immediately stood up, ready to go comfort her daughter.
"Mama..." Anya bent over attempting to dry her tears, Yor had walked over to gently pat her back as she comforted her in any way she could.
"I see, I see." The older man teased, "So you do prefer your old mother."
The room began to bubble with anger again, no one dared speak.
"This is too cruel!" Yor exclaimed.
"Please calm down, Yor." Loid sighed.
"But this is just—" Though Loid agreed the question was way out of line, he did not want to risk his mission, 'We need to remain calm for the sake of this mission.'
“All you care about is that stupid mission..” Yuri muttered, “I should arrest you for not caring about a child’s feelings either.
That hurt Loid more than Yuri could ever know.
"We have plenty of students here who live away from their parents in our dorms. If she's going to cry over every little trifling thing, she'll never survive at our establishment!"
“She won’t even be at the dorms!” Franky complained.
Bond growled at the man onscreen. He didn’t know who he was, but he knew that man had made Anya cry. Anyone who made Anya cry was an enemy.
“So what if he's being slanderous? ” Loid thought to himself, though his thoughts now seemed way more like a self soothing measure, “We are nothing more than a pretend family.”
“You want yourself to believe that Twilight.” Handler spoke up suddenly. “It’s alright if you feel love or affection for someone. It’s natural.”
Loid didn’t answer.
"Trifling? You call this trifling ?" Yor asked, flexing her fingers in a way that made it look like she was about to attack.
“This is nothing.”
"Now, now, Mrs. Second Wife. Don't snap at me just because she loves her real mother more." Swan clearly didn’t know how to stop.
“Can we please skip this part and skip to the part where he gets his face punched in??” Becky asked pleadingly, there were murmurs of agreement.
“Stand down…” As soon as Mr. Swan said that Twilight had leapt from his seat, and was now dangerously close to the teacher while he had his arm pulled back, ready to punch and a loud hit resounded.
“YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!” Becky cheered, more cheers erupted from the theatre.
"I do beg your pardon." Loid apologised, still simmering in anger, but nonetheless, a lot more calm than before. "There was a mosquito." The camera panned down, and a poor, innocent insect had been hit while the cowering teacher, who was all the way up his seat, was shaking in fear and shock at the destroyed table.
“Awwwwwww” Becky moaned, followed by more moans of annoyance that the teacher hadn’t been hit.
Handler smirked internally, this proved the theory that Twilight had gotten attached. Not that she minded. But the higher members of W.I.S.E…..
"Thank you very much for your time today." Loid then stood up. gathered his back and opened his arm, gesturing for Anya and Yor to follow him.
"Hey, where are you going?!" Mr. Swan stood up and tried to restore his authority, "The interview isn't over yet!”
“If making light of a child's feelings is part of your establishment's educational policies, then I'm afraid we have chosen the wrong school." Loid replied.
"You fiend! You dare disgrace our fine school?!" With his last bit of authority taken from him he was attempting to at least make a final mark.
“You call that disgrace?!” Becky scoffed. “I will tell my father about this and that man will be fired!!”
"Come now, you two." Without missing a beat, Loid placed his hand on Anya's back and led her outside while she was still being comforted by Yor. "Please excuse us."
"Don't think you'll ever walk through our gates again!" Swan really really didn’t know how to stop.
"That's quite enough, Master Swan." Mr. Henderson finally intervened.
"Are you taking issue with my methods?" The fat man challenged, "He may be the former headmaster," Mr. Evans now stood up, trying to calm the both of them down, "but my father's influence within this school is still strong! It'd be wise for you to watch that mouth of yours." He then turned around and, "Hey! Hurry up and call the next one in!"
'...the instructors of the prestigious Eden College are second to none.' Seemingly remembering Loid's words, 'If all I can do is curry favor with the authorities, I have no right to call myself an educator.' Seemingly with his mind made up, Mr. Henderson spoke up, "I must ask, who truly disgraced our school?"
"Huh?!" Mr. Swam turned around, only to be caught face first by a punch on his face. Making him fall backwards, landing loudly on the floor.
"Wha— " Mr. Evans was unsure of what to do…
"Hmm..." Mr. Henderson hummed, “That was rather elegant, if I do say so myself.”
“AWESOME!!!” Becky cheered and the entire room erupted in applause.
Franky thumped his chest with his fist in respect and Mr. Henderson’s reputation was then restored.
“Yeah... We definitely failed.” Loid sighed.
"I-I'll go make us some tea," Yor whispered, walking into the apartment with a defeated attitude too.
'I've failed yet again as a spy, I let unnecessary feelings get in the way of the mission." Loid sounds defeated.
“Those were not unnecessary emotions Twilight.” Handler scolded.
"Papa..." Anya whispers, coming up to him and hiding her face on his leg, her hands grasping his pants. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry that I couldn't do better on my tests."
"It's all right, Anya. You have no reason to apologise." Loid comforted, placing his hand on her back, "You don't want to go to a school like that, do you?" It definitely was a phrase he was saying to make her feel better.
"But I want to go to school..." And Anya was following his game as well.
"Huh?" Loid sounded surprised.
'If this mission fails...' Anya thinks to herself, "I have to go to school or..." She left the phrase hanging as she completed the thought in her head. '...we won't be together anymore.'
"Anya... " Loid's voice was soft, very much a fatherly tone.
Loid wordlessly hugs Anya and Yor joins in.
“If she fails, of course, our life here together will be... But that doesn't matter. I'm just worried how this may affect my work.” Yor thinks from the kitchen, while she is making tea. She grabs the tray and begins to walk over with the drinks.
"Hmm... But to be honest," Loid began, "Hell will freeze over before you pass." The obvious attempt to lighten the mood worked, as Anya quickly stood back and had an expression of shock over her face.
“I still think that was mean.” Anya pouted. The attempted humour worked as a few people laughed.
"I-I'm sure everything will be okay!" Yor tried to offer her support. "It'll all work out!"
"The grandpa with the glasses and the grandpa with the half-glasses were really nice!" Anya noted a memory of Mr. Henderson and Mr. Evans.
“I’m not technically a grandfather.” Mr. Henderson huffed.
"Yes, exactly!" Yor agreed. "I'm sure they'll vouch for us! Let's believe in them."
“Spies don't believe in anyone other than themselves.” Loid began to think, "They always expect the worst-case scenarios and prepare for them..” though all of his pessimistic glory, Loid saw yet another memory.
"I want to be with them forever." Anya's words brought a blush to his face.
“More proof that you truly like them, Loid.” Handler said. “Tell you what, when we get out of here I will talk to the higher agents of W.I.S.E to let you stay with Yor and Anya.” Everyone looked at her in surprise.
“You can do that??” Loid displayed a rare look of surprise.
“Of course!” Handler said, “It just takes a while. But I think this is worth it. You can do missions on the side like you do now even after Operation Strix.”
Loid was silent for a long time. Finally he replied, “Thank you. I don’t know what to say…”
“You don’t have to say anything.” Handler said with a smile, memories flashing of her own family.
“But... Maybe just a little bit…” though the thought was yet again, not completed, it was obvious what was meant. Loid nodded at Yor's words. "Yes. Let's leave the result to fate, and try to recover from how exhausting that exam was." he leaned over and grabbed the cup from the tray, 'Right now, just for a little bit...' he continued the thought. "To our family's bright future!" Before they could continue the toast a loud noise distracted them...
"Something just fell!" Anya exclaimed.
"Our family portrait fell to the floor."
"It just fell..."
“Oh no!!” Becky exclaimed in horror.
“Hopefully nothing bad will happen. Right??” Franky asked, looking at the Forgers.
All of them just gave a mischievous little smile.
“What will become of their mission?!” The narrator asked.
The screen faded to black. A few seconds later it lit up again.
