*Yu's POV*
"Three Shadows! Should be a piece of cake, Senpai!"
The Shadows didn't seem dangerous, but they also seemed extremely agitated. The left one struck first, hitting Kanji.
"That was a powerful blow! You okay, Kanji-kun?" Yukiko asked, helping Kanji back up on his feet.
"I'm okay." Kanji simply responded.
"Focus." I had said.
The others focus, and Yosuke deals a powerful blow toward the left Shadow, killing it instantly.
"Nice hit, Yosuke!"
"I agree. Nice hit."
Yosuke says nothing, but looks at Yu with a small smile on his face. It seemed as though he was blushing a little. I know that if I mention it later to him, he would most definitely deny it.
"Thanks, Par-"
"Yosuke, look out!"
The middle Shadow had decided to strike quickly, attacking Yosuke with some sort of debuff, but it had seemed to do nothing. Kanji quickly finishes the Shadow off with a melee attack, then I quickly finish the last Shadow.
"Wow, that was pretty easy."
"I must agree, although I can't say for sure as I was watching from a distance." Naoto had said.
"Don't worry, it was easy." I said, then turning to Yosuke. "You okay? Because you got hit with some sort of debuff."
"I noticed that too. Did it... do anything?" Rise asked.
"No... I don't think so. I'm sure it was nothing."
Yosuke seemed sure about that. I can't say I agree, but the effect didn't seem to do anything so... maybe he was right.
"Y'know, I say we call it quits for now." Kanji suggested.
"I agree. I think we've done enough. Let's get out of here."
And so we did just that. We made our way out of the TV world and back home. Teddie had also decided to come with us again. I could tell he was really enjoying the 'real world'. I looked around at everybody, and... Yosuke. Yosuke was missing. He wasn't here. Did he exit the TV world?
"Guys... where's Yosuke?"
Everyone started looking around, and they were all as confused as I was. Yosuke was definitely not here.
"Did he go through the TV? Who went in after him?" Chie asked.
"He did go through. He went before me." Kanji had stated.
"So... where is he then?" I say.
This wasn't good. Yosuke had-
"I'm here!"
That voice. It was Yosuke! But... where was he?
"I'm down here!"
Everyone looked to where the voice was coming from. The ground. And there on the ground was... a cat?
"Yeah, I'm down here!" Yosuke shouted.
"Is that cat talking?" Kanji asked, confused.
Well, I guess we all are.
"Guys... I think that cat is Yosuke."
"Yes, it's me. I'm a fu-"
I quickly pick Yosuke up, and he didn't seem to like it.
"Yu! Put me down."
"Aww, Yosuke's a cat. That's so cute." Chie said, stroking Yosuke's fur.
"Noooo stop-"
Yosuke tried to protest Chie from stroking him, but I think he liked it in the end. He just gave in.
"Does that feel good, Yosuke-kun?" Chie said, mockingly.
"I am so going to kill you, Chie."
"Seriously though, why is Yosuke a cat?" Kanji asked.
Everyone looked at each other for a second, then Rise decided to answer the question.
"I think it's the effect that the Shadow put on Yosuke. Typically, these type of effects can last up to 24 hours."
"I'm a cat for a whole day!?" Yosuke shouted loudly.
"I'm surprised he knew that." Chie whispered to me. I couldn't help but smile a little.
"I heard that!" Yosuke had shouted again, this time directed to Chie.
"So... the effect will run out soon? If so, then what do we do with him? Because I don't think he can go home like that."
Everyone stood for a second, thinking. Teddie could look after him, but Yosuke's parents would wonder where he is... and if I'm being honest, I don't think Teddie can think of a good enough excuse in that situation.
"Oh! What if Yu-senpai looked after him? Yosuke could stay at his place for the night." Rise had suggested.
"Good idea." I said.
"Wait- what!?" Yosuke had shouted.
"Stop shouting, Youske-kun! Someone could hear you."
"Eh... I'm pretty sure they'd just hear a cat. Like normal cat noises." Kanji says.
"What makes you think that?" Naoto asks.
"Well-"
"Movies." Chie says, cutting off Kanji.
Kanji says nothing, and instead looks down for a moment, then looks to Yosuke.
"So? You wanna stay at Yu-kun's house, Yosuke?" Yukiko had asked. Yosuke looked terrified. I think.
"Uh... well, that i-if Yu is okay with-"
"I'm okay with it." I say simply.
Yosuke didn't seem happy with that answer, but gave in nonetheless.
*sigh* "Then I guess I'll stay with you, Partner."
I smile at Yosuke. He couldn't help but smile back, and even started blushing.
"Anyone wanna grab some food? I'm starving." Kanji had asked.
"Sure, why not." I say.
"I want meat!" Chie shouted.
"Of course you do." Yosuke said, looking at the ground.
"Shuddup! You can't even eat anything! You're a cat!"
"...She's got a point. I think we're gonna have to feed you cat food." I say to him. Yosuke was not happy.
"What!? No!"
"Ha ha! Youske's gotta eat cat food!"
"Shut up..." Yosuke says, giving up and just starts walking.
"You want me to carry you?"
Yosuke stood there on his four paws, and just looked at me.
"...Yes please." Yosuke whispered.
I just smile, and pick him up. Yosuke wraps himself on my shoulders. He seemed pretty happy.
*An hour later...*
"Eat it, Eat it" Chie shouted.
"No I ain't eating that!" Yosuke also shouted.
We were all at Aiya's, and Chie had brought some sort of cat food for Yosuke. He refused to eat it, but Chie kept persisting.
"Eat it, Yosuke! This food was practically made for you!"
"I'm not eating that-"
"Partner, maybe you should eat some. I don't think you'll be able to eat anything else, so you'll need some food so you don't get hungry." I say.
Yosuke simply looks at me, then sighs. I think he's given up... again.
"Fine... I'll eat it. Give me a spoonful."
"Yes!"
Chie quickly grabbed a spoon, and loaded it up with the cat food. It didn't look nice, but maybe it tastes good. Who knows?
"Okay, open wide." Chie had said, smiling the entire time.
Yosuke just sighs again, and opens his mouth. Chie instantly put the spoon in his mouth, and Yosuke starts to struggle with the food. He... he started to chew it. Then his eyes were wide. He swallowed.
"Well? Was it disgusting?" Chie asked.
"I'd imagine it was." Kanji added.
"Mhm... it's amazing!" Yosuke said happily.
Chie puts the can down, and Yosuke starts to eat out of it. He was really enjoying the cat.
"I can't say I saw this coming." I said.
"How- How can you like this!? It's cat food!" Chie shouted in shock.
Yosuke waited a second ebfore speaking, swallowing all the food he had in his mouth.
"I don't know. It just tastes really good!"
"Maybe it's because he's a cat. Therefore he likes cat food. It's not really an explanation, but it's the most logical reason." Naoto had stated. Everyone had just nodded.
Once Yosuke was done, we had all left Aiya's, and everyone went their separate ways. Teddie also went back to Yosuke's house. He was given a set of instructions by Yosuke, mainly just getting Teddie to tell his parents that he was staying with me for the night. Teddie obliged and left to walk with Chie and Yukiko. Me and Yosuke finally end up at the Dojima Residence, and the first person that appears on the other side of the door... was none other than Nanako.
"Big bro! Welcome home!"
Nanako gives me a big hug, making me lose my balance for a mere moment. Yosuke wasn't as bothered by the unbalancing as I thought he would've been.
"Hi Nanako."
"Where- Oh! A cat! Dad, big bro has a cat with him!"
"Oh does he now?"
Dojima had appeared from... wherever he had been, and it seemed it had a nice smile on his face.
"What its name?" Dojima asked.
"Uh... Tadeo. Means 'Loyal'. And its a he."
Yosuke had been talking to Nanako, but seems that all Nanako could hear was simple meows from Yosuke, confirming the theory from earlier today.
"Well, I've gotta work the late shift. Nanako, make sure you go to bed. As for you, try to keep the cat down when she's sleeping."
"Got it."
A phone had started ringing. Dojima's phone. That was his cue to leave.
"Well, see ya. Bye Nanako."
"Bye Dad!"
Dohima had answered the phine and walked out, talking a bit quieter and more serious than usual. Of course, that's how he just acted on the phone. A few hours pass by, and Nanako was asleep. As for me and Yosuke... well, I was in bed, and Yosuke couldn't seem to get comfortable.
"God, why can't I get comfy? Is it the bed? Or is it just me?"
"I think it's you."
"...Wow. Thanks for the honesty, Partner."
"No problem."
Yosuke just chuckled a little before moving onto my stomach, and... well, I think he found his spot.
"You're gonna sleep on my stomach? Can't be that comfy."
"You're not the one who turned into cat though, are you?"
I just smile at him.
"I guess you have a point."
The room was silent for a moment, with Yosuke trying to sleep, and I was just lying there, with my eyes open. A few moments later, Yosuke says something.
"Did you know I hate cats?"
I look straight at Yosuke, as his eyes met mine, and we both just looked at each other.
"I... how can you hate Cats? They're such good animals. They're loyal and cute. Like you."
"Well, yeah but- wait. What!?"
"What? It's true."
"Yeah but- Partner, you can't just say stuff like that!"
"Why not?"
"Because... well... ugh, can we just sleep please?"
"Okay, fine."
It was silent for a few more minutes. But I couldn't get what Yosuke said out of my head. He hates cats? How? Why?
"How can you hate cats though? They're just so cute and fluffy."
"Well... I don't really know. Most of them I encounter always scratch me."
"Not all of them scratch you. You just need to be calm and soft. They'll warm up to you pretty quickly."
"Mhm... like I did to you?"
"I... what does that mean?"
"Huh? Oh nothing. Let's get some sleep."
*Yosuke's POV*
I wake up suddenly. Whether it was a dream or not that caused me to wake, I don't know. But I should probably check my phone. Let's see... 4:39am. Wow. So early- wait. I just held my phone. I'm not a cat anymore! Ha! I guess the affect had finally worn off. Oh, but now I'm... stuck in a bed... with Yu. And it's too early to leave yet. And I don't wanna wake him up. So... I guess I'm stuck in a bed... with my Partner... oh god. That's uh... well- it ain't bad, it's just a bit weird since... well, I kinda like him.
No. No, not now. Don't be weird. Just... go back to sleep. Yeah. That's a good idea. Just go back to sleep. Next to your Partner. Your cute Partner, who's asleep... next to you- oh god. I don't know if I can- no. I can. Maybe if I just... hug him. Is that too far? Eh I don;t think he'd mind. He's probably in a deep sleep or something. Hm... oh god. He feels so... warm. I could just sleep like this... mhm...
*Yu's POV*
"Hi there, Yosuke."
Yosuke opened his, to look at me. He had almost no reaction. He was cuddling me, and he had no reaction. Either way, I didn't mind.
"Mhm... Morning, Partner." Yosuke had said while yawning.
"It seems you're no longer a cat."
"Yeah... it happened in the middle of the night. I... didn't wanna get out of bed though, so I just-"
"If you're gonna apologise, don't. I don't mind. Not at all. If anything... I'm kinda glad you did. It felt... nice. You cuddling me."
"Wha-"
I quickly kiss Yosuke. I realise how much of a mistake this was. But even then... Yosuke didn't stop. If anything, he pulled in closer. He then quickly backs off a little, and looks directly at me.
"...You don't know how long I've been waiting for that."
I just smile for a moment, taking the moment in.
"You look cute when you're blushing, you know. Now, you want me to make you some breakfast?"
"I'd love that. Oh, and Nanako too."
"Pancakes or cat food?"
Yosuke budges me a little, playfully.
"Don't ever mention cat food again."
"Or what?"
"Or... no more kisses."
"Oh you want to kiss me again? Well then..."
I pull in a little closer, but Yosuke stops me.
"Not yet. Maybe once you get the breakfast done."
*sigh* "You're unbelievable, you know that?"
Yosuke simply just smiles, and stands up. He mentions that he has no clothes, to then I suggested to borrow some of mine. He didn't seem to like the suggestion, but I could tell he felt a thousand times happier the moment he put them on. Hopefully now, he doesn't hate Cats, since he was literally one himself. And if he still does...
Well... I'll convince him otherwise. Even it takes four more years.
