Work Text:
Seungcheol felt powerless.
Didn't know what to do and he wished Joshua was there because Joshua always knew what to do, but sadly his boyfriend was still at work.
There was nothing Seungcheol could do but plead.
"Jeonghan. Please. You're gonna hurt yourself."
On the coffee table before Seungcheol sat a round, white bird promptly glaring at him.
"You just took the cast off and I know you've missed being in your bird form, but your arm is still hurt and you still have rehabilitation exercises you need to do before your arm is optimal again. You can't fly."
Jeonghan just turned away from Seungcheol, ignoring his words and hopping over to the edge of the table on his small talons.
"Jeonghan," Seungcheol sat up straighter, ready to (gently) grab the small bird if he had to. "Don't." When Jeonghan had shifted earlier and flapped his wings, Seungcheol had heard the pained chirp.
Jeonghan was not ready to fly, yet his boyfriend could be stubborn.
Seungcheol watched as the fluffy bird spread his tiny wings.
Heard the resulting pained sound.
Opened his mouth to once again tell Jeonghan to not leap off of the table, but it was unnecessary as Jeonghan turned around and hopped back to the middle of the table.
Seungcheol could imagine the way Jeonghan sighed as the bird sat down and sulked.
"Just a few more weeks, Hannie," Seungcheol reached out and gently lifted the ball and cradled him in his hands.
So soft.
Jeonghan was so cute when he was in his bird form.
"You'll be flying around and creating chaos again soon," Seungcheol promised. He couldn't resist leaning in to plant a tiny peck on top of the soft bird's head. Jeonghan was so tiny his lips covered most of the bird and he heard an angry squawk.
Jeonghan looked even sulkier.
"Please shift back, baby?" Seungcheol gently urged. "We'll head to the gym and do your rehabilitation exercises. I'll help and we can be back before Joshua finishes work."
A chirp, then Jeonghan lightly pecking Seungcheol's thumb with his beak.
"Want me to put you down?"
A nod.
Seungcheol placed the white bird onto the couch next to him and soon a full grown man was seated there.
"I just need to put some clothes on, then we can go." Jeonghan did not sound enthusiastic, but Seungcheol couldn't blame him.
"Yeah, I'll get our water bottles."
Jeonghan nodded and got up, walking to the bedroom with slumped shoulders.
Seungcheol's heart ached; it was not easy to see his usually mischievous boyfriend so downtrodden.
Sure, the house was more peaceful when they didn't have a boyfriend flying around purposefully choosing violence nor having to deal with Jeonghan falling asleep in the smallest of spaces with Joshua and Seungcheol both unable to locate him, but Seungcheol would be lying if he said he didn't miss it.
He sighed and got up.
Just a few more weeks with a sad and sulky boyfriend, then happy, chaotic Jeonghan would be back.
