Chapter Text
Just you and me
And I could be
Part of your world
— "Part Of Your World", from The Little Mermaid Original Soundtrack, Jodi Benson
Nevermore, the home of magic and everything in between.
Enid kept that in mind that while sharing a brief smile with Ajax.
The boy is a gorgon, that means that his hair are his and her worst enemy. Which it was kind of hilarious, when he was ready to show her his true self, was actually the day the boy petrified himself.
He was quite charming, with sharp jaw and piercing, dark brown eyes but she felt mostly affection towards him and she confused it with romance.
He was the first person that didn't call her disgusting because she grew up with a pack of werewolves. She was also the first person who didn't judge his hair. The snakes were actually friendly, if you treated them with respect. Enid learnt it as soon as they began to date.
The day wrapped and they chilled on a sofa by the entrance.
Now, Ajax was chilling with Enid in the patio and they saw Xavier and Wednesday together, at the other end of the room: «Why are they so close?» he said the brown eyed boy, angrily. Yeah, thought Enid, why?
«Well, we must not worry about them, they might be just friends» said Enid, feeling her throat soaring.
«It's not fair though. Everyone can see them and must think they are dating. I wish I could hold his hand, be his boyfriend. But obviously, as the historians would say, "oh they are just good friends!" which, frankly, it's hideous».
Enid stayed silent for a long while. Ajax was right, when it comes on queer people, a straight individual invalidates their relationships as a whole. Even historians do that. «I want to be her girlfriend too».
«Who? Xavier?»
«I said her, not his. I meant Wednesday. She's cute»
«Uhm, not as cute as him, I must admit» Ajax gazed Enid, quickly.
«Oh, shut the fuck up, Ajax» replied Enid, annoyed.
«Okay, sorry» apologized Ajax. «Do you want to go to the teather next Sunday?»
Wednesday passed by and Enid was sure that she heard the last sentence, because she froze in front of them.
The raven haired girl didn't say anything, but her eyes were penetrating Enid's soul and she let them.
«Hi, Wednesday» Enid swore to any kind of spiritual entity that she was sweating, big time.
«Enid, I need you later with our investigation on the curse» her voice tone sounded abrupt, plain and a bit polite.
«Yeah, of course» she smiled and then added: «See you later»
«Alligator» Wednesday finished with this word, which it was kind of childish but at the same time old fashioned-like adorable.
«Is it a date?» asked Ajax, who was silent and speechless throughout their conversation.
«I don't think so, maybe she just want to spend quality time with me» Enid replied, puzzled.
«Okay it's a date, than» Ajax nonchalant tone was a bit devastating to her. Don't give me hope, I beg you!
«Ajax, please, it's not so simple for girls as it is for boys who do it around. Society expect us women just as friends, nothing romantic or sexual. Unless, it's the adult industry ... »
Ajax blushed and coughed an «oh» and switched the subject on a TV show he watched, British setting and so on. Boring but she listened to him because British humour was his comfort zone.
Then, a bell rang and they went to their dorms, to sleep.
As soon as Enid came in, Wednesday was typing on her typewriter, in a religious silence. She throw herself in her colourful bed and started to chat on her phone, asking Yoko what to do about her little crush on Wednesday.

She switched off her smartphone, went for a quick shower, put in her rainbow pajamas and ate some chips. Wednesday didn't eat too much and she was on her black pajamas.
«Are you going to sleep?» asked Wednesday.
«Not yet. Wasn't I suppose to help you?» replied Enid, earnestly.
«Ah yes, so ... my thought is that someone is fabricating, for some extent, this "curse" seems to attack whoever is not the norm or do not follow the rules. Moreover, someone is playing judge on us. Any thoughts, Enid?»
Enid was barely listening, lost in those brown eyes, deep brown eyes that reminded her of cold coffee, she swallowed every single word she wanted to say but they are stuck in her throat.
«I have no idea, Wednesday.» Enid admitted, cautious.
«I thought so, you are not that intelligent, are you?» Wednesday voice sounded unapologetic and unitentionally harsh.
Enid was humilated and mortified, in one word: pain.
«And you have the same tact of an elephant in a glass shop» Enid almost hissed the last two words. Now she was angry, mad at her roommate, questioning every piece of their conversation, tearing apart every single movement of her and Wednesday.
«I don't get what you mean: it's a fact, you don't research, books are a foreign concept for you, you are blonde and you dress always in pink.» she retorted, her tone was matter-of-factly.
«Let's listen how those things have an association between each other. Your IQ might be high but, bless your heart, you lack in emotional intelligence.» Enid shrieked.
Wednesday sighed: «There's no need to use this tone when I stated an objective fact: you are unrelieble, stupid and self-centred, and on top of this, you wear pastel colored outfits.»
Holding back tears, Enid said: «I thought you were super cool and an awesome person to hang around. Now I see that you judge the book for its cover. I thought you were better than other people. Stupid me, really.»
Enid then went to bed, weeping to make herself to sleep.
