Work Text:

Fwhip sounded his horn, alerting all of the other empires, calling them to his empire. Something was breaking into the server, and the Goblin King was worried.

As the other members of the server came flying into the cave, they saw him pacing, an admin screen floating in front of him. He was making frustrated noises as he typed away.

Jimmy was the last of the emperors to arrive in the large cave. The sheriff looked worried, almost as worried as Fwhip.

“Fwhip,” Lizzie started. “What’s happening?”

“Something is breaking into the server,” he stopped his pacing to answer.

“What?” Scott shouted in shock.

“Something is breaking into the server?” Joel said.

“Do you know what it is?” False asked.

“No-,” he froze looking behind the group.

“Shoot,” Jimmy said, turning to look where Fwhip was looking. “This is not something you can handle Fwhip,” he said, stepping away from the other emperors.

“What do you mean I can’t handle this?” Fwhip asked. “I’m the admin of this server, I’m supposed to protect you all.”

“Not even Xisuma could deal with these guys,” Jimmy said, taking a step closer to where the air had started to shimmer. “The only admin that I know could handle this was my former admin.”

Two beings appeared from where the air was shimmering, an invisible portal. Both of them were dressed in white robes, they had white masks with broken portal symbols on them. Above their heads are halos of purple eyes, behind them two large purple wings.

“Not even Xelqua could defeat us, Listener,” one of the beings echoed.

“How dare you use his name,” Jimmy said, none of the others noticed how his eyes flashed green.

“Would you rather us call them Grian,” the other spat the name with venom.

“Jimmy, why are they talking about Grian,” Gem said. She looked at her fellow hermit to see if she knew anything.

“It’s a shame that you managed to escape,” the first one said. “You were such a fun toy to play with,” they smiled.

“I’m not a toy,” Jimmy spat. His wings unfurled from behind him as he tapped into another power, not even his siblings knew about this. His normal magic, a wonderful golden yellow, now a brilliant bright green.

“Not anymore at least,” the second pouted. “They just had to help you break out of our games.”

“They are called the Listeners,” Jimmy said, as a pair of antennae appeared on his head. “And we,” he voiced echoing around the cave as his outfit changed to a black pants and shirt with green highlights around it. “Are just as powerful as you wanna be gods.”

He advanced towards them with a staff forming in his hand. The more of the Listener magic that he used the more his wings started to resemble Pearl’s moth wings.

“Jimmy what are you doing,” False called. “Those are Watchers, you can't defeat them.”

“I don’t need to defeat them,” he said, striking the first one. “I just need to stall for as long as possible,” he dodged a hit from the second one.

It took longer than Jimmy was expecting for Grian to show up, that the night turned to day and Jimmy managed to take down both Watchers by himself.

The hermits by now have gotten used to how Grian is a Watcher, and just makes portals out of thin air. Others not so much, most of the emperors didn’t even know Grian was a Watcher, or what a Watcher was until they came to the server.

“Took you long enough,” Jimmy said, he was healing himself with his magic.

“I wasn’t even on Hermitcraft when you messaged me,” Grian responded.

“You weren’t?” False said looking at the avian.

“You were breaking into the Dream SMP again weren’t you?” Jimmy tilted his head.

“Possibly,” Grian was scanning Jimmy over to make sure the younger sibling wasn’t too hurt.

“How’s Za?” Jimmy asked, changing the subject before Grian could start questioning him about his appearance.

“He’s good,” Grian said. “But,” Jimmy in fact did not change the subject. “Why are you dressed as a Listener?” He placed his hands on his hips and tilted his head.

“Who do you think helped me get out of the games?”

“Wait,” Grian said. “They made you one of them, then you helped Pearl,” he stepped closer to the younger. “It makes so much sense now. I’m so stupid,” he pulled Jimmy into a hug.

“No you're not,” Jimmy said, he pulled out of the hug. “But I would say I’m stronger than you now,” he smiled a shit-eating grin. He knows that he is not stronger than Grian.

“Ha, as if,” Grian punched him in the shoulder.

“Ow that hurts,” Jimmy rubbed his shoulder.
