THE RISE OF KARMA STUDIOS
After remaking Killing Eve and giving it its deserved ending, Karma Studios (founded by Ava Silva and Beatrice Young) is set produce more sapphic films and TV shows.
First is ‘After Hours’ which will star Silva which is written and will be directed by Nyx Gallager, based on her experiences growing up queer in a conservative town.
Next is ‘Warrior Nun’ which they bought the rights to. They got Netflix to greenlight three more seasons. Creator Simon Barry is delighted that after almost three years, their fight for the show was not for nothing.
Lastly, an untitled musical is in the works that will star queer musicians like Renee Rapp, Cari Fletcher, Troye Sivan, and Olly Alexander to name a few. The songs will be written by the stars with Beatrice Young supervising.
People are calling them as the resurrector of the victims of the ‘Bury-your-gays’ trope and making appeals to them to pick up other shows that despite being great, got cancelled because od a queer storyline.

Joan of Arc was the Best Picture winner as well which gave Silva another Oscar because she’s one of the executive producers as well as her partner, Beatrice Young.
Her film ‘The Cure’ with Robert Eggers is still doing well at the box office and critics are also blown away by her performance. Her name is expected to appear again in next year’s award season.
Meanwhile, ‘Beach House’ with Jordan Peele will be in theaters this Summer.
LIFE IN AMERICA
BEHIND SUNSHINE INITIATIVE:
AVA SILVA AND BEATRICE YOUNG’S PHILANTHROPY
You might know Ava Silva as an award-winning actress and Beatrice Young as an award-winning musician and their production company Karma Studios but that’s not all it is to them. The two are also philanthropists.
Yesterday, they officially launched ‘Sunshine Initiative’ a non-profit organization that helps women and LGBTQIA people that doesn’t have the means to go to college go to their dream schools.
Two years ago, they started partnering with UCLA with a few scholars that are interested in coding and music. Now, they are partners with almost a hundred colleges and universities across America. They now have an estimate of 10,000 scholars. Their first scholars are now working in top companies.
“There are a lot of talented and driven people that doesn’t reach their full potential because they don’t have the means to hone their talent and skills,” Beatrice Young said at the event. “With Sunshine Initiative, we are going to help them reach their full potential.”
“Most of our scholars are now working with amazing companies where they get to use their talents to make the world a better place,” Ava Silva said. “You noticed I say most. The rest is working with us. On our production company, Karma Studios and here in Sunshine Initiative.”
They also worked with some politicians on giving LGBTQIA people the rights they deserve. Statistics now says that there are less unemployed LGBTQIA members as well as lesser number of hate crimes. The two hope that it will decrease more over time with all the new laws passed that’s for the protection of the community.
One of their ambassadors is award-winning actor Michael Salvius who just came out as gay a year ago during pride month.
“The article from Life in America was published already,” Ava tells Beatrice who is driving. They are having a much-deserved vacation. They have been working so hard for the past two years. The last “vacation” they had was during the filming of ‘The Cure’ in Sweden and Ava was making a movie and Bea was writing an album. After that, Bea went to the studio to polish her re-recordings and record her new album. She also did a bunch of soundtrack and original songs for a few movies. Ava shot ‘Beach House’ and went to countless meetings about new films and for their production company. They also worked with UCLA with their NGO. They didn’t expect it to blow up within a year. When other universities heard it, they want to work with them as well. It was a whole whirlwind, but Ava and Beatrice’s relationship just got stronger.
“Is it good?” Beatrice asks.
“It’s very accurate,” Ava tells her. “Suzanne sent me a picture that she already printed it and is now in the very thick binder of good articles about us,” she chuckles.
“She’s going to need a new one,” Bea chuckles too. “Maybe Greg would buy her another for her birthday.”
“Are you still not at ease with your future stepfather?” Ava asks.
“I think he’s a good guy,” Beatrice tells her. “I wouldn’t allow her to marry him if I didn’t think so.”
“But?”
“I’m just worried,” Beatrice admits. “You know, because of what happened to my dad.”
“Greg is pretty smitten with Suzanne,” Ava comments. “Sometimes they are more sickening than we are,” she laughs.
“I know,” Beatrice cracks a smile.
“They’ll be fine,” Ava assures her. “She loves books and he used to work at publishing. Surprisingly, they both love knitting and gardening. They are perfect.”
“Sometimes I fear they are too similar.”
“Your mom thinks bagels are better like you and Greg couldn’t care less and just likes pound bread,” Ava laughs.
“Oh my god, Mom was so upset,” Beatrice laughs.
“They will be fine, my love,” Ava kisses her cheek.
“How’s Diego?” Beatrice asks.
“Oh, he absolutely loves working with Camila,” Ava tells her. “And Camila loves how attentive he is.”
“I can’t believe Camila is making her debut film,” Beatrice says. “It’s about time.”
“I’m kinda upset she’s not doing it under our studio,” Ava purses her lips.
“She promised she’ll make the second one with you,” Beatrice reminds her. “She just wants to do this on her own first, you know?”
“I’m glad she took on Diego under her wing though.”
“Working in the film industry is really in your blood,” Beatrice smiles. “Are you still on about your parents making a film comeback?”
“Mama likes the idea,” Ava says. “Papa needs a little more convincing.”
“You haven’t picked the actors that would play your parents in Nyx’s film, right?” Bea tells her. “Why don’t you ask them if they want to be part of it? It will be perfect because it will be a supporting role. They won’t go into shock into entering a film set again.”
“That’s an amazing idea,” Ava kisses Bea quickly. “I’m calling them right now.”
After Ava’s eventful call with her parents and then with Nyx, Beatrice points her something. “Love, look, the beach.”
“Oh my gosh,” Ava gasps. “It’s been too long.”
“We’re back, Big Sur,” Beatrice says and rolls down the roof of the convertible they are driving.
“We’ll have an amazing summer,” Ava says.
The two spent the first and second day going to the places they have been to and just reminisce. Beatrice blamed it the fact that it’s that time of the month that’s why she was crying so much. Ava wants to call her bullshit because she knows she is at the end of that time, but she just let her be. She did cry a lot too, so she knows they’ll just have a petty argument who cried the most.
After they revisited every memory they had of the place, they created new ones. Ava pats her back hard because the place she chose to rent was beyond their expectations and Beatrice was very happy. They would spend their mornings having breakfast on the house’s deck with the view of the beautiful ocean. After, they would walk on the beach and pick up pretty shells and if they are lucky, gemstones or fossils. They would sit on the deck again or the beach with some books, scripts or Bea’s guitar mid-morning. They would make lunch together and feed each other. Sometimes, they would take a nap together. Other times, they would swim or trek. They would always watch the sunset together while cuddling. And at night, they get lost in each other, tangled in bedsheets as if it’s still the honeymoon phase of their relationship. They stayed like that for two weeks.
On their third to the last night, they booked a nearby restaurant for a romantic dinner. Actually, they both booked the place as a surprise for each other but the manager both told them and they just agreed to book it together and have the staff decorate it while they sent some reference on how they want the vibe to be.
“They did good,” Ava smiles while looking around. She’s holding Bea’s hand tight.
“Good evening, Miss Silva and Miss Young,” the manager greets them.
“The place looks amazing,” Beatrice tells her. “Thank you so much.”
“It’s our pleasure,” the manager smiles. “Let me escort you to your table.”
The place is not very big so it doesn’t feel overwhelming that it’s empty. All the tables have small vases full of daisies. Their table, the biggest, is in the middle of the room. A short and wide vase full of daisies in the middle. The whole room smells very floral with a mix of ocean breeze. It complements the airy white dress they were both wearing.
“Wine?” a server asks after he approached them.
“Please,” Ava smiles.
“Hmm, good. Thank you,” Beatrice says after she took a sip.
He pours them a full glass and smiles before he leaves.
“It looks so different,” Ava looks around once more.
“It was a bit crowded when we ate here before,” Beatrice says. “We were hunched on that corner,” she points out, chuckling.
“Oh, yeah,” Ava laughs. “I hope the food didn’t change.”
The server came out with their starters. They thanked him and immediately dug in. They did a long trek earlier so they are famished.
“Oh, it’s still good,” Beatrice beams. “I can’t wait for the steak.”
They talked and laughed about random things.
“It’s been so long since we did something like this,” Beatrice tells her, reaching for Ava’s hand. They have just finished dessert and is walking on the al fresco area of the restaurant where there is a garden.
“We’ve both been busy,” Ava squeezes her hand. “Imagine if we went with our original agreement,” she chuckles.
“I probably only asking if you would take me back right now,” Beatrice chuckles too.
“Would we have lasted this long though?”
“Probably not,” Beatrice answers.
They walked in comfortable silence for a few moments. When they reached the wishing well, they stopped.
“Are you happy?” Beatrice asks.
“What do you mean?”
“Are you happy with where your career is?” Beatrice asks further.
“Very,” Ava grins. “Are you?”
“Very,” Bea answers. “I can’t ask for much more.”
“Are you happy with your other endeavors?”
“Do you mean our endeavors?” Beatrice pokes her side. “Very, very happy.”
“So, what do you think is next?” Ava wonders.
“I’m glad you asked because I know exactly the answer to that,” Beatrice beams.
“What?” Ava can’t help but to beam as well.
Beatrice glances back and shares a look with the manager. She turns to Ava and smiles even more.
“What?” Ava narrows her eyes.
Suddenly the lights turn off and a lot of string lights lit up.
“Bea…” Ava breathes as Beatrice gets down on one knee and reaches for the pocket of her dress.
“Ava Silva, my best friend, my soulmate, the love of my life,” Beatrice says. “I have loved you since the first time I have laid my eyes on you. You are the most beautiful person inside and out. My life is the best because of you. We have been through so much together. Most of the time I wonder how I got so lucky that you came into my life. I am very thankful for fate for bringing us together. Happiness and pain, we went through it. We got wounded and scarred but we managed to grow and mature from it. We learned together. You are the only person that I would go through that over and over with in every lifetime. I can’t imagine my life without you. I would be so honored if you would spend the rest of our lives together. I love you, heart, body and soul. Will you marry me?”
Ava purses her lips, trying hard not to cry. Of course, she fails. Tears still went down her cheeks. “Goddamn it,” she exclaims.
“What?” Bea asks, suddenly very worried.
Ava searches her pocket and takes out a velvet box. “You beat me to it,” she chuckles.
“Oh,” was all Bea could say.
“Stand up, you,” Ava pulls her up. “I did have an agreement to the manager as well,” she laughs. Beatrice leans her forehead to hers and laughs as well.
“Oh, god.”
“Now shut up. I need to say my piece too,” Ava pulls away and wipes her tears with her index finger. “Beatrice Young, my best friend, my soulmate, the love of my life, I have loved you the moment I heard your voice in a song. Though I wanted you so badly, I am grateful we became friends first. I got to know you and I fell in love even harder. You are the most amazing person I met. You are kind and caring and sometimes I wonder what I did to be blessed to meet and befriend someone like you. You taught me how to be strong and you believed in me the most. Of course, rough patches are inevitable. That’s part of life and it’s given so we can learn. I love learning with you. I know that in every parallel universe, you and I are together like in this one. We are twin flames. A future without you is not a future at all. You are the only person I would like to spend the rest of my life with and I hope you do too. Bea, will you marry me?”
Both of them are sobbing.
“Yes,” they both say at the same time while nodding.
Bea takes out the ring from the box and slides it in Ava’s finger. Ava did the same. They kiss and hug each other tight. They didn’t even notice the staff’s applause.
“I love you,” Ava kisses her.
“I love you,” Bea beams.
“Congratulations,” the manager approaches them.
“I’m glad you didn’t tell her,” Bea chuckles.
“Same,” Ava says.
“I figured that part, you can keep as a surprise,” the manager smiles at them. “My hunch was right though; Miss Young was the first to grab the opportunity.”
“Just call us Bea and Ava,” Beatrice tells her.
“Then call me Joanne,” the manager says. “Congratulations again. The pictures will be e-mailed to you.”
“Can we take more?” Ava asks.
“Absolutely,” Joanne says. “Maya?” she calls the photographer.
“Hi,” Maya beams at them. “Huge fan.”
The two poses for more pictures before thanking Joanne and going back to their cabin.
“I still can’t believe you proposed first,” Ava shakes her head while driving.
“You are secretly relieved,” Beatrice teases. “You have the same opening line as me.”
“Hey, I came up with that on my own,” Ava says. “It’s just that we’re together for so long, our brains are in the same frequency.”
“Whatever you say, wife,” Beatrice chuckles.
“That’s right,” Ava smirks. “Happy wife, happy life.”
“God, we’re annoying,” Bea laughs.
“I love you,” Ava glances at her with the purest expression of joy in her face.
Beatrice didn’t know she can fall even harder. “I love you too,” she says and sees the same expression in her face in the reflection of Ava’s eyes.
When they arrived in the cabin, they immediately called Reya, Vincent and Suzanne at the same time. They were both so happy about the news. They immediately asked for specifics but the two told them to calm down and they’ll find out soon enough. Next, they told their closest friends who are as pleased as their parents.
The next day, while having breakfast, the photographer, Maya sent them the pictures.
“My god, did she not sleep?” Beatrice says as they look at the pictures.
“Just like us,” Ava chuckles. “You were like a starved animal.”
“Shut up,” Beatrice blushes.
They managed to pick ten pictures after an hour. Five each that they picked.
“Ready?” Ava asks.
“One, two, three,” Bea counts.
“Posted,” they both say.
“We’re going to break the internet,” Bea bites her lip.
“Turn off your notification,” Ava reminds her.
Beatrice does and carries Ava back to bed.
“Hey, save some of that enthusiasm for our honeymoon,” Ava laughs as she gets carried away.
END.
