Work Text:
Sun knew when he messed up, which to him. Happened more then he would like. This time though, as he shifted his eyes anywhere but the disappointed look of Moon. He knew he had overstepped a bit too much.
“Sun..”
Don’t look
Do not look…
“Sun.” More stern and he was left sighing heavily as he looked over to his brother.
A frown plastered on Moons face and hands crossed as he was being glared at, and well, fair.
He probably deserved it. He hadn’t meant to upset either of his brothers.
“I didn’t know…” Fidgeting with the bells on his wrist as he glanced down, Sun hearing the other groan and walk towards him.
Grabbing onto his hands to stop him from tearing the ribbon off on accident, and looked at the other.
“Sun, look I..” Moon seemed to hesitate, like he wasn’t completely sure how to go about the situation.
Not wanting to lash out but also needing to put a foot down.
Sun didn’t need him too.
“He’s.. Sensitive Sun..” The grip on his hands tightened. “You know what he dealt with, playing those kinds of games with Eclipse..”
He did
He had to hold back his own bite from mentioning that the first horror game they’d played wasn’t his choice but Moons.
Sun just didn’t expect Lunar to have such a, mental breakdown over a silly horror game. Perhaps neither had thought about it..
Weren’t they both at fault?
“Y..Yeah. I know I just, y’now it was for the content. I’ll.. Let him pick the future games next time.” He had felt Moon fidget at the content part, and staring into the others eyes said he wanted to say many things but held back.
“J..Just alright, alright.” Moon let go glancing over at the open door leading out to main daycare. “Play nice with him, I know you’re trying and things are still on edge due to well.. Everything.” Moon moves past to walk towards the tunnel, probably to work on some project or check the computer.
It’d been a long month..
Hell, it’d been a long year
“Y-Yeah.. Yeah! I’m sure a bit of resting and tomorrow Lunar and I can play games with the kids, should cheer him up!” He cheerfully spoke to Moon before watching him nod and slip into his own space. His rays wiggling lightly as he disappears before sighing.
Stepping up the ladder to the edge, he jumped down into the ball pit. The daycare pretty much already cleaned up and Lunar had run off quickly to see Monty. He needed a distraction, walking to the desk and pulling out some paperwork and old files on the pc he had put off sorting through.
He may as well work to distract himself.
It felt nice to have the daycare open after everything.
Sun watched as children ran around and played, glancing idly at Lunar playing a game of tag and dancing around brought a small smile to his face.
Moon had left to deal with his own devices and he was just happy Lunar was back to his chipper self after yesterday’s issue.
“Excuse me..?” Sun jolted at the voice and turned around to see a young lady near the door. Staff having left to go to break,
leaving him in charge as he hopped over to the lady.
“Why hello~ are you here for pick-up~?” He sung as he did a quick scan of the lady before-
Wait..
“Ah no, I just would like to cancel the subscription for your services..” The lady fidgeted slightly before holding out paperwork towards him.
She was scared of him.
He never let it get to him.
“Why of course, I am required to ask that – “ He cut himself off as he felt the lady slowly shake and glance around.
He frowned…why was she?
Oh
Ah..
“I can handle this miss, you can go..” He didn’t get to finish as the lady practically sped walked out the door away from the daycare.
He glanced at the paper before heading behind the desk to update the logs. He liked to keep the system up to date for the staff members and himself if something went wrong.
It wasn’t the first time someone had canceled on them, not by a long shot.
But..
She had been the 30th kid this month to be taken out, that worried him. He didn’t personally need to worry about Money.
He’s pretty sure he could live off of their shared bank account and stay anywhere in the world (almost) if he so asked.
He wouldn’t do that though.. No, he and Lunar liked it here. Even if Moon may not admit it sometimes, he liked to think the other also didn’t mind it here.
“Sun..?” A soft voice breaks his thought
“Yes Lunar” he peaks over the monitor at the other, 2 kids having successfully climbed on top of the bot as he sheepishly stared at him.
“It’s almost nap time..” the audible gasp from the 2 kids as they quickly jumped off and ran at the concept of nap time made him chuckle.
“Alright, I’ll gather them as you get the blankets and pillows.” Lunar nodded before running off, used to the task at hand.
He himself runs off to catch the little troublemakers for nap time.
It was also nice having a different helping hand, even if it took Lunar a bit to get into a new routine.
He was well aware even the first time they had worked together that he had taken Moons memory to work through the days he and Eclipse had worked the daycare together.
It was funny going through the old security cameras to see Eclipse handling the children in their absence alongside Lunar.
The two almost natural at it, yet not at the same time.
Sun watched Lunar set down the last child, lights slowly going out as his glow feature taking effect.
Moon having changed it to where only his rays would glow, as to help not scare Lunar. His mind slowly shifting in thought at the lunar bot near him.
Leaving himself idly wondering what would have been like to have a different Eclipse?
A not so traumatized Lunar, a tame BloodMoon or even the complete destruction of Kill Code; working here, alongside the others.
Or even, living their own lives without chaos and their own internal pain.
Could their entire lives be different if they had spoken up, tried something new?
Would things be the same if he had done something more?
He sat down next to Lunar, the other softly humming as they watched the kids gently fall into dreamland.
Would he be able to make a difference after everything still going on?
The sounds of static started to cloud his hearing slowly.
He hurt Moon though didn’t he? He’s hurt Lunar too, so many times.
Ticking sounds of his rays slowly moving could be heard.
What good is the Sun if it’s always bringing those close to him down?
Hell, he couldn’t even be more considerate to his new younger brother! He knew he hated scary games, knew he’d been going through more issues than himself.
Sun hadn’t done anything but run away! Hid away in Monty golf, not even questioning Lunars safety, Moon was always his main priority… Right?
What would he do if they both disappeared..?
“Sun..?”
What if he left, disappeared, died, or was broken. Would they care?
“Sun...???”
God, he was so Selfish wasn’t he?
They would care, Moons tried so hard to keep him alive. For what though, an crybaby like himself that doesn’t know how to do anything but care for kids.
Hell, even another universe him couldn’t do this without Moon. The two would be so much happier in a different world with a much more different Sun.
He wishes he could just..
change the world.
make it to where his brothers would be..
Safe
Happy
not having to worry about the issues of the world.
He’d build them a
Paradise
Why…
He doesn’t understand.. Why he’s so angry
“SUN!”
He jolts as his rays snap into place, how long had they been spinning? Gripping his pants harshly as he, breathes.
Smoke slowly coming through as his body flares up with light, the area around him glowing.
“Are.. you..” A soft voice hesitates and Sun glances over to Lunar. Watching as the other coils back in fear.
It takes Sun a split second to realize the situation.
Like a trigger had been placed on the Lunar bot, he could tell the other wasn’t looking at him.
He stared at Lunars eyes, scared
