Chapter Text
4 years later
Law sat sideways on his throne, his legs draped over the armrest lazily. He was bored out of his mind. He hadn’t had any real entertainment in so long. Maybe he would invite Kid to Dressrosa. He had heard the man had a mate and a few pups now. But it would be so incredibly satisfying to make the man his again. He wondered if he could do it where the man’s omega could see.
He had left Kid with the open wound of knowing Law had never cared for him on purpose. He knew one day he might want to play with the alpha again and it would be so easy to reopen that wound. Make the man bleed for his amusement.
The doors of the throne room opened.
“Introducing the new ambassador of Elbaf.” The doorman cried.
Law looked up. He had been wondering who the ambassador would be. Elbaf has become prosperous over the last few years. Other world powers were beginning to take notice. So, when he received word that Kid wished to send an ambassador he had allowed it. It was obvious an attempt to curry favor with him. The poor fool must still be in love.
When he saw who was striding towards him, he sat up, swinging his legs to the front of his throne. He hadn’t ever expected to see his old second in command again. He figured the Massacre Soldier had him shut up somewhere, birthing the man’s pups and satisfying his needs.
But the person in front of him wasn’t the cowered plaything of a northern barbarian lord. The omega looked better than Law had seen him possibly ever. His red tunic was beautifully made, the sleeves embroidered with twisting gold patterns. His black pants were clean, and his boots shone. His hair was longer than he used to wear it. Glittering beads had been braided into it. He wore a golden circlet that had been shaped into two slim fox heads in the front, the beasts met at the omega’s brow supporting a massive glittering ruby, one half in each of their snarling mouths. He had a royal blue cloak held in one hand, the garment hanging loose down his back. It was too warm for such an article of clothing but the omega didn’t show any signs of setting it aside, he just kept it slung over his shoulder. He could see the fox fur trim and a glinting clasp at the front.
“Hello Law.” Penguin said staring up at him. A servant stood next to Penguin, hood pulled up, head bowed low.
Law sneered at the casual greeting.
“I see you look well. Here to thank me for doing what was best for you?” He drawled.
Penguin grinned, exposing his fangs.
“A victimless crime, I believe that is what you called it.” Something in the omega’s tone made Law tense. He looked up and signaled the guards to form a circle around the ambassador and the hooded figure next to him, passing the gesture off as covering a yawn. Penguin’s smile widened. “I do thank you. From the bottom of my heart. My mate loves me, truly, madly, deeply, as the saying goes. He gave me a home, he is the love of my life and the father of my children. I have four pups now, I just found out I am expecting another litter in case you care. My pups are all bright and happy and being away from them pains me. But I owed you for giving me to him in the first place. Which is why I thought I would return the favor.”
Law blinked in confusion.
Penguin was exuding smug satisfaction now, he gave a sarcastic little bow.
“One victimless crime deserves another. So, I am here to tell you Elbaf has decided not to recognize your crown. It was never yours to begin with. It was never Doflamingo’s either. It belonged to the woman who betrayed him to help you and Kid win your war. The woman you promised to help rebuild her home. The woman you tried to have murdered so you could keep the power for yourself.”
Law snarled and moved to stand. At the same moment the hooded figure next to Penguin cast off their cloak and Violet the crown princess of Dressrosa turned her cold glare on him. This was a trick. It had to be. His men had killed her years ago.
The guards seemed suddenly confused. They were glancing at each other as if trying to decide who they should be siding with. Law was grateful he had replaced most of the royal guards with his own men.
“Stand down, NOW!” Violet’s voice cracked through the tense silence. Anyone that had served under her father instantly fell to their knees, heads bowed. Law’s men shifted nervously. They outnumbered the royal loyalists, but not enough for it to have been a confident win if fighting broke out.
“HOW DARE YOU!” Law snarled down at Penguin.
The other omega seemed completely unruffled as he gazed around the room. He lazily drifted his gaze back to Law.
“You have three days to abdicate.” He said calmly, ignoring Law’s outburst. “If you don’t, Kid will take the city. He has done it before, and he will do it again. The people don’t trust you, your forces are split. How long do you think it would before someone puts a knife in your back?”
“I will kill you for this.” Law promised. “I will have Kid at my mercy in minutes. And then I will take your head.”
“If you so much as look at Kid, Luffy will tear you to pieces. He is rather possessive of his mate. And he hates you. Really, he has probably been looking to an excuse to attack you for years. I hope you give it to him.”
Law was shaking now as his rage overflowed, his hands gripped the sides of his throne until his knuckles turned white, he leaned forward.
“It was foolish of you to come here, just the two of you. You won’t make it out of the city. I will gut you and send your corpse back to Kid in pieces.”
Penguin cocked his head curiously.
“We didn’t come alone. That would have been incredibly foolish indeed.” The other omega sang the words out. “Besides he wouldn’t have let me come alone even if I had wanted to. He doesn’t like to let me travel alone, people have a bad habit of trying to assassinate me. Plus, he is very protective when I am pregnant, and he wanted to thank you himself.”
Law felt the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. Someone stepped from the shadows behind his throne, their footfalls heavy as they approached the back of the chair. He hadn’t even sensed the man. He instinctively shoved his ability at the figure. Fear, be afraid, cower. He winced back, it was like he hit a wall when he tried to enter the man’s psyche. A wall of nothingness, void of emotion. He looked over his shoulder as the Massacre Soldier materialized from the gloom. The man’s hand settled on Law’s shoulder and pulled him back into the throne.
“I promised I would give you three days.” Killer growled, his fingers biting into Law’s flesh. “I highly recommend you keep your mouth shut and have your men stand down. We will be leaving the place. We can either go quietly, or I can summon the other people we brought with us, and we can clear the throne for Violet right now. You just threatened my mate, my pregnant mate, and the only reason you are still alive is that I promised Penguin I would give you the chance to go peacefully in honor of your shared past.”
Law closed his mouth and signaled his men. They obediently lowered their weapons.
Killer smirked and patted his cheek.
“Good boy.” The blond alpha leaned in close so only Law could hear. “Before you start thinking about plotting revenge know this, you gave him to me and now he is mine. If anything happens to him, there is nowhere in this world I won’t find you. Dead or alive, I will make you suffer beyond your wildest imaginings if any harm comes to him or my children. I really hope you decide to fight. I want to kill you myself. I will make it slow, and I will enjoy it.”
Then Killer walked down the steps hooking an arm around Penguin’s shoulders. The omega leaned into him with a purr. Penguin shot Law a sarcastic salute before letting Killer spin him around. Violet fixed him with a cold glare before turning to follow them. Law watched them go numbly.
As the doors closed behind them he looked down at what Killer had dropped into his hands.
The emblem of Flevance stared back at him on the signet ring the alpha had given him. The country no one alive knew he had been born in. Not even Penguin had known. He knew exactly what this ring meant, it meant that Killer knew who he really was, and that the man’s threat had not been empty.
He forced himself to snicker. His men looked up at him.
“I think I have grown bored of this country. I hear Alabasta is beautiful this time of year.” He said with false cheer.
His men nodded, backing away from the royal soldiers.
He slipped the ring in his pocket. He would leave this place, he would give up Dressrosa. And he would go south. Hopefully he never saw the Massacre Soldier again. He knew he would be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his days, praying nothing suspicious ever happened to Penguin. Because if it did Killer would hunt him regardless of if he had been involved.
