Puppet Master

Chapter 4: A turn for the worst

Chapter Text

“We were worried sick about you! Jungkook, you know better than to go out alone like that! And Hoseok you could’ve at least sent us a text!” Jin’s face is slightly red and angry after his worried outburst. The rest of the members are sitting on the couches waiting for an explanation from the two who went out.

“I’m sorry Hyung, I was just so focused on what I was doing I forgot to tell you.” Jungkook feels guilty for worrying his hyungs, but there was this nagging thought in the back of his head…it was worth it and he would do it again.

Jungkooks train of thought stops. This was serious, something really horrible could’ve happened to him, he shouldn’t just leave the members without telling them where he is again. What the hell is he thinking?

“So what did you guys do? It must’ve been fun..” Taehyung throws the question out there trying to lighten the mood. He was worried but now that he knows they’re safe, he’s just wondering what the hell they were doing in the first place.

Hoseok glares straight at Namjoon.

“Me and Jungkook went out for a drink to wind down, he wanted to go out with you but you ditched him.” Hoseok's expression stays poise and cold.

Once again Namjoons face takes on a look of guilt. “Listen, I know. And I’m so sorry ok? I’ll make it up to Jungkook.” He turns to look at Jungkook as a silent plea for him to speak his mind.

Hoseok slides his arms behind Jungkook's shoulders and strokes his back. All of a sudden, Jungkook feels this anger. Namjoon fucking ditched him, and with such a lame excuse too? He just expects Jungkook to get over it? No way.

“Whatever Hyung, you know the same way we could’ve just sent you a message, you could’ve at least told me you were going to ditch me for Jin.” It’s unlike Jungkook to be so verbally hostile over a little thing like this. Namjoon had already already apologized and promised to make it up to him. Maybe he was in a bad mood.

Jungkook turns away to go to his room and Hoseok, who still has his arms around Jungkook, follows.

The group was confused. Why did Jungkook seem so mad and even jealous? He’s never been like that before. Usually Jungkook is the first to actively talk things out but this time it seems like he had some pent up anger.

“Is he mad at me? I never meant to get in the way of your guys date, I didn’t even know about it!” Jin is sitting in his room with Namjoon and he still hasn’t gotten over the altercation with Kook.

“I don’t know Hyung. I’ll give him some time to cool off and maybe he’ll talk to us tonight during dinner.” Namjoon hopes that Jungkook was just stressed out and that he wasn’t jealous. If he was, then the group would officially have their first “talk” about sharing tonight.

——————————————————————

“Dinner is ready!” JIn and Yoongi call for the members so that everyone can eat dinner.

Jimin and Teahyung come out of their rooms first and sit down at the table. Namjoon goes to the fridge to grab cold water before he sits down. After the table is set, Jin and Yoongi take their seats.

Jin looks around the table, noticing that Hoseok and Jungkook haven’t shown up yet. “Yoongi, can you go get those two?”

Just as Yoongi is about to get out of his seat, Hoseok and Jungkook sit down at the farthest end of the table.

It’s awkward and quiet as everyone digs into their food.

“Jungkook, why were you so ticked off earlier?” Yoongi breaks the silence with his question, tired of waiting in silence.

“I…I don’t know hyung. I was just kind of stressed and I was embarrassed.” Jungkooks slumps his head downwards as he confesses.
