Sight for Sore Eyes

Summary:

Basically a fic i randomly started during my procrastination on my other fanfics <3

I might make this a decent fanfic.

Work Text:

If there was a way that Kisame could describe today, it most definitely would be counted as "Very shitty luck" even though he doesn't even believe in luck.

The Bloody Mist has no care for "Luck" no matter who you are and that's what every single inhabitant of Kirigakure knows. Kirigakure engraved those words in every single inhabitant.

Kisame was currently running with around 5 arrows sticking out of his back. It wasn't a pretty sight and it sure as hell hurt like a bitch. But all Kisame could do was keep moving and outrun his little gang of angry cloud nin on his tail. Probably the annoying part with the arrows that were engraved in his back, are poisonous but Kisame didn't remotely have enough time to just pull them out.

Thankfully samenheada had gorged themself on the cloud nin's chakra before backup was called and was using some of it to keep the poison at bay until he had the proper moment to fix it.

The sound of his feet hitting the ground was pounding in his ears with the scent on the wind promising a storm. All Kisame could really do in that moment was pray to some Entity or God, for a small bit of fortune on his side.

And BOY does something go wrong, in probably the worst way possible because the next thing kisame knows just as he sees his exit, he slips and lands harshly on the ground. All he could feel in that moment was intense pain and dread.

He attempted to move his body, but he must have smashed his head hard when he landed, because his vision was swimming in and out as he tried to move. Then everything went dark as kisame lost consciousness.

The first thing kisame noticed was the excessive drain he felt on his chakra. It wasn't that surprising since pretty much everyone and their grandma's cat had heard about Kisame's massive store of chakra. The annoying part for Kisame was that without his chakra, it became harder to do anything.

It only took around a week for his chakra to drain so much that kisame could barely lift himself off the floor. The poison was also starting to kill him, surely but very slowly. It was a form of torture that kisame had come to know pretty well from living in kirigakure.

The only thing he truly felt was pure exhaustion and hunger.

The one thing Kisame knew for sure was that if kiri had taken him, he would definitely be dead but the intense pain in his body said otherwise.

All Kisame could do was breathe shallowly and pray that death would come swiftly.

Soon the footsteps of his torturer echoed throughout the halls. The sound of keys jingling could be heard as the lock finally clicked, allowing the door to swing open.

Kisame saw the guard had a knife in the corner of his eye, and just turned back to face the ceiling.

The guard got within arms reach of Kisame and crouched down to speak. "I hope you enjoyed your last day alive," the guard muttered in Kisame's ear.

Kisame just moved his eyes to look at the guard but only for a minute before turning back to face the ceiling, closing his eyes, praying for it to be quick. Soon the alarms of wherever he was, started blasting loudly.

"Shit!" The guard muttered angrily before getting to his feet and running towards the door of the jail cell.

The door slammed shut as the guard was out of the room, sprinting down the hall.

All of a sudden kisame could feel the presence of someone nearby. They seemed to have made it to the area kisame inhabited unnoticed or else they would have been swarmed by cloud nin.

The closer they got to Kisame's cell, the better kisame could see that it was a konoha nin. Which was surprising since Kisame was never expecting to get saved. It both, confused and surprised him to see the konoha nin was a member of the ANBU by the tanuki mask he had on. The ANBU nin managed to get the door open and pretty much speed walked over to kisame.

Kisame’s skin was pretty dry as he hasn't been in any water which has him severely dehydrated and he's been overheating a bit. The tanuki ANBU put their hand on kisame’s cheek which felt extremely warm to the touch, which they knew wasn't a good thing.

It was pleasant for kisame as he leaned into their touch a bit as it provided comfort since their hands were cold. Kisame slightly closed his eyes as he leaned more into their touch since it was the only relief that he felt since he was severely sick.

Concern flashed in their eyes as they fully took in Kisame's current state, which was honestly heartbreaking.

Some of the scales in kisame’s hands and sides were chipped or looked like they were torn off. There was a large gash in his back with some decent sized holes that were from the discarded arrows that laid nearby.

He was still very large with a shark tail laying behind him attached from his lower back area and a dorsal fin. There were gashes pretty much all along kisame’s body with varying amounts of blood from different wounds that were open and looked infected upon closer inspection.

It was a sight that wasn't for those who couldn't handle blood, that's for sure.

It only took a few minutes for a few other nin to arrive only for kisame’s eyes to fly open as he attempted to back up while baring his teeth at the new arrivals. He could barely stand or defend himself but he would be damn near stupid not to try.

Kisame had only managed to move a bit more than a few feet away as he knew he was heavily injured and poison was seeping through his veins making him even weaker. The ANBU nin immediately turned to his companions with what kisame assumed was a frown on his face. It's not like he could have known, the man wore a mask.

The staring contest between the people only lasted for around a minute before the rest of the squad backed up giving kisame and the tanuki ANBU some space.

The tanuki ANBU got a bit closer to kisame before putting their hand back on his cheek. Kisame flinched away from the touch at first before just keeping still, allowing them to keep their hand on his cheek.

"We're going to get you out of here, but we're going to need you to trust us," they murmured quietly. All Kisame could do was nod as a reply.

The tanuki anbu lifted his hand towards his companion behind him and beckoned him forward. The man had on a plain white mask with a single crescent moon cutting across one eye. He took a few steps and was within arms reach of the tanuki anbu member. They shared looks between each other having a silent conversation before they came to a conclusion with the man in the plain mask stepping closer and helped put Kisame into a sitting position.

Kisame complied as he could barely move his body and just slowly began to close his eyes as drowsiness took over him again. His eyes shut and his labored breathing slowly evened out as the poison began to take effect once again.

They looked alarmed as the missing nin of Kirigakure just fell asleep seemingly out of nowhere. They immediately got him onto the man’s back and began creeping their way back outside of the prison. The guards were still held up by a simple clone used as a diversion to keep them hopefully away for a while. The air reeked of ozone and you could just tell this was not the place for the shark-man to be as this was far up in the mountains.

But there wasn't much he was able to do about getting captured after attempting escape several times in the past before. But killer B was an excellent fighter which was the main reason that kisame was struggling to escape the hidden cloud village.

And…They continuously kept trying to torture information out of him but he would sooner bite his own tongue off rather than spill any secrets. And he stayed true to the virtue of silence that he swore upon but it never came down to needing to bite his tongue off…at least not yet anyway.
