“Tada! Isn’t it cute~” Riri said, turning around with a flourish to show off her new hairstyle.
She’d taken down the tiny bear-ear twists and redone her hair with thicker, larger buns, that were very reminiscent of cat ears. They even twitched like cat ears with a flick of Riri’s wand.
Anzu just glowered and ignored her, keeping her eyes focused on her phone screen. She was in the middle of finally getting to play Neko Atsume again after what felt like forever.
Under no circumstances would she admit that she found that cat-like hairstyle adorable. And that matching, frilly apron dress with the cat face as the bib and the ribbon tail trailing along the back was definitely just overkill. It was definitely not far more charming than that demon had any right to be. Anzu was unswayed.
Especially not when Riri balled her hands into fists and made a pawing motion with an obnoxious, not-funny-at-all “nyaa~” to go with it. “Anzu-nyan? Isn’t it cute?” Riri stretched and curled up on a pillow on the floor, sighing out a quiet, “Nya~”
The sound of Momohiki’s meowing joined in with Riri’s when the real cat prowled over and cuddled up against the demon. Momohiki licked Riri’s nose, snuggled into the gap between her legs, and purred contentedly. Riri smiled and nuzzled back. “At least you like me, don’t you, Momohiki-nyan?”
Anzu bit her bottom lip, trying to hold back a smile, her dimples still filling her cheeks. She was trying her hardest to ignore Riri’s ridiculous display, but bringing in Anzu’s true love Momohiki was just foul play.
She chanced a single glance over towards them and found the cat and fake cat curled up around each other in a nap. Anzu wasn’t even sure if Riri needed sleep in the first place, but the eyes were closed at least.
Furtively switching away from her phone game to her camera, Anzu snuck a quick photo of the two cute, furry troublemaking roommates she had. She made sure her back was turned to them before she finally let her smile soften and admired how cute the two looked side-by-side. It almost made her heart skip a beat.
Almost.
But that was as much as she was going to let her heart waver to one of Riri’s schemes, she swore to herself, before getting back to her phone games.
