…Wait…

What?

“Huh?” Negan asks, sitting up a little to look down at the drunk girl laying on the bed beside him. “I thought you didn’t even like me.”

“I’ve been trying to stay away from you.” She huffed and peered up at him. “You’re no good for me.”

“And Glenn is?” He deadpanned with a blank look on his face.

She shrugged. “Glenn is kind.”

Negan pursed his lips. “I am kind.”

“You’re selfish.” She snorted, rolling her eyes at him. “And you’re always getting me drunk.”

He quirked his lip at her even though he didn’t feel like smiling. “Cause I’m fun, Darlin’.”

“No.” She says firmly. “It’s ‘cause you want to fuck me.”

He glanced down at her. “I don’t need alcohol to do that.”

Maggie grunted and sloppily shoved him toward the edge of the bed at that. “Pfft! Yeah, right.”

“You’re too judgy,” Negan replied once he straightened from being pushed. “You just assume shit about me and roll with it.”

“You don’t think I've had boyfriends like you?” Maggie’s speech was still slurred but she was more serious now, suddenly sounding annoyed as she sat up against the headboard. “Assholes who cheat the first chance they get and never take anything seriously.”

“Maybe… When I was in my twenties I wasn’t… the most loyal, adoring partner but-“

“That’s exactly what I mean!” She starts, her arms crossed as she decided she had a personal drunk hatred for the man in front of her now. “You’re aware you’re like this too but you don’t care enough to change… You hook me in with.. your.. sexy smirk and your… leather jacket so you can have sex with me and then ignore me… I saw how you are with Andrea. I can only imagine what you’ve done to that poor girl.”

Negan took a second as he stared at her to swallow thickly and then lick over his front teeth as he debated how he should respond. She was so right that it hurt. He didn’t want to be perceived like that by her. To be fair, it was mostly true but… it was different with her! “The difference is, I actually like you, Maggie.”

“And what happens when you don’t?” She frowned. “I get discarded?”

“Of course not.” He furrowed his eyebrows at the accusation and sat up fully, Maggie followed his lead and sat crisscross, across from him. “I really like you, Maggie. Just give me a shot, get to know me. Let me know you.”

Maggie slid down the bed frame, going back into the lying position. “My dad doesn’t like you.”

He shrugged. “That doesn’t change anything.”

She pursed her lips, looking up at him as he loomed over her. “He thinks you’re too old for me… and he wants your group gone.”

That made Negan frown. “He’ll come around.”

Maggie’s face was blank for a moment before she was snorting and breaking down into laughter. “Just the way the cookie crumbles.” She snickered, adding a sarcastic shrug.

“Nothing I can do to change it,” Negan adds as a light smile graces his face at her laughter.

She raised her eyebrows with a grin. “And you think you can change my mind about you?”

“I don’t think you’re telling me how you really feel. If you were, I wouldn't be in your bed right now.” He watched as she poked her tongue out to wet her bottom lip and avoided his eyes, obviously trying to think of a witty comeback. Thinking quickly, he reached up and grabbed her chin between two fingers, forcing her head over to meet his eye once again. All he did was raise an eyebrow and Maggie’s face was heating with a blush. There was very little light in the room
but he could feel the heat radiating off of her. “We both know I’m right.” He murmured, turning to his side and leaning into the woman. He let go of her chin and trailed his fingers along her shoulder, to her clothed waist, and continued dragging down until he made it to her hip.

“Negan…” She whispered before swallowing a lump in her throat.

“What?” He smirked a little, still talking in a deep and careful tone. “What’s wrong, baby?” He took the liberty to gently lift her shirt so he could dip his fingers into the waistband of her underwear, the tips of his fingers grazing her hip bone as they rounded the side of her body and traced her lower stomach.

Maggie sucked in a quiet breath and dipped her tongue out to wet her lips again, her legs clenching together as her eyes darted back up to Negan’s.

“That damn look.” He just about growled the words and he grinned wider, dipping his fingers below her waistband now.

“Negan.” She whispered again, trying not to squirm against his touch. “We can’t do this here…”

“Okay, let’s go to the barn.” He whispered back, smiling at her. She breathed a laugh at that and shook her head, “At least let me eat you out.”

Maggie bit her lip at that and eyed him, unsure if she should put a stop to this or not. “If my dad catches us-“

“Yeah yeah, I know. Daughter of the farmer who owns a shotgun…” Negan looked at her for a second then relaxed back into the bed. “Okay not tonight… but tomorrow?”

“Fine.” She acted like she was annoyed but had a smile on her eyes as she laid against him. “We can meet in the barn after everyone goes to sleep.”

-

This time around when Negan woke up in Maggie’s room it was daylight out, maybe around noon? He would have slept longer but he was woken up by the obnoxious sound of pounding on Maggie’s bedroom door.

“Maggie!” Beth yells through the door, hitting her fists against the wood.

Maggie flinched and groaned, putting her hand over her ear at the sudden noise. She lifted her head towards the door, her eyes squinted and hair mussed on the side of her head. “Go away!” She yells back, forgetting Negan is there.

“Fine but if Dad comes barging in I tried to warn you!” She says through the door, the words waking Maggie up.

She sat up in bed fully and rubbed her eyes, her head sore from the alcohol the night before. She took a second to yawn and stretch before she was finally making eye contact with a very awake Negan. “Hey…” She started slowly, looking a little embarrassed.

“Hello.” He smiles up at her before sitting up a little bit and putting his hands behind his head. “Hungover?”

“Maybe a little…” She shrugs, laying back down. “You?”

“Not at all.” He chuckled. “I didn’t drink anywhere near what you did.” He grinned at her, happy they were talking.

She nodded and looked off into her room. “You should get going… everyone is probably wondering where you are.” Negan looks a little disappointed at that, he wanted to stay in bed and talk all day.

“I’ll go.. but only because I don’t want Hershel to kill me.” He jokes, moving to sit on the edge of the bed. He grabbed his abandoned leather jacket and threw it on over his day-old clothes. How they were going to get him out of the house before Hershel saw was beyond him. He shoved his feet into his shoes and turned to her. “See you out there.” He joked, going to her and leaning down over the bed. “Goodbye kiss?” He asks quietly.

Maggie leaned up and gave him nothing more than a peck on the cheek. “Goodbye, Negan.”

He took that as a victory and was grinning all the way out of the house. He managed to squeeze behind Hershel’s back and escape without anyone in the house noticing. Everyone outside definitely saw it happen though.

He didn’t care, he loved to put on a show.

He made his way back to the RV, it was earlier than he thought. The group was just sitting down to have breakfast.

Rick was sitting beside his wife and son, his jaw tense as he chewed a bite of food. He watched Negan walk up, a pep in the man’s step. “Negan.” He spoke, setting his plate down in front of him to stand. “Can I have a word with you?”

Negan raised his eyebrows as he approached the circle, his eyes on Rick. “I can only guess what this is about.” He says sarcastically, a little smug smile on his face.

Maybe it wasn’t a glare but he definitely earned a dirty look from Rick at that. “Now.” The man demanded and walked towards the rear of the RV, gesturing for Negan to follow.

They stepped out of earshot from the group and Rick turned to him, annoyance on his face. “What do you think you’re doing? Messing with Hershel’s daughter? He knows you’ve been staying in the house, he came to me this morning, furious.”

Negan hummed, starting to get annoyed now too. “Maggie’s a grown-up.”

“She’s our gracious host's daughter.” He starts, leaning towards Negan and lowering his tone. “Have some respect. Your display last night was bad enough as it is, you’re gonna be the reason Hershel kicks us to the curb and I'm not going to have that happen.”

Negan sighed and just about rolled his eyes. “Fine. I’ll be more careful.”

“No. You’ll stop.” Rick glared back, “I don’t think you understand how serious Hershel is about this. He’s already angry about the walkers in the barn. He’s ready to kick us out. Leave Maggie alone.”

Negan gritted his teeth, his eyes boring into Rick's as he considered his following words. “I’ll stop going into the house.”

Rick wipes a hand over his jaw and takes a deep breath. “Tread lightly. Hershel won’t hesitate to kick you out.”

“Thanks, Ricky. I’ll watch my back.” He grinned as if everything from now on would slide off his shoulders and walked back to the group, choosing to plop down beside Dale once he was in the circle. He reached and grabbed a granola bar from a sack of food they had in the middle.

“Okay.” Rick starts, his voice louder to address the whole group as he rounds the corner he was just talking with Negan in. “Hershel… has some rules for us. First, he wants us to start helping out. Tending to the garden and the animals.” Negan snorted at that as he opened his breakfast bar, earning an official glare from Rick. “I don’t care who doesn’t want to. Either you respect him or you can leave. I’m not risking my family being left on the road.”

Shane leaned against a tree and listened to his best friend guide the group, his arms crossed as he shot a look to Negan as if to say ‘you hearin’ this?’

“And I want to reiterate for those,” Rick looked directly at Negan again, of course. “Who aren’t getting it, Hershel wants us to stay out here by the RV and the tents. We can shower at the house but unless we’re invited, stay out. Please.” Rick did a scan around the group, looking at the faces for questions or concerns. “Dale, I want you on watch today. Glenn, Daryl, and Shane… we’re going out on a run. We need supplies And I want the rest of you to stay here and follow Hershel’s orders… Got it?” He got nods of confirmation around the group. “Good.”
