Chapter Text
It was nearing the end of the Harvest Festival when a significant event that would change how the school saw Iruma happened.
After Iruma came across and rescued Naphula in the tunnels under the jungle, after he and Naphula faced Toto the Djinn, and even after they received the seed of truth, both our blue haired protagonist and his very stinky companion came across a particular glowing cavern.
Glowing stones adorned the walls and ceilings, like something you’d see in a National Geographic documentary about the glowworms in New Zealand.
As both sentient beings traversed this luminescent cave, they did not know that an unknown figure was watching them from the shadows, waiting for the perfect time to strike.
Iruma was having a wonderful time jumping from boulder to boulder, helping his new friend Naphula when they needed assistance.
It was as he pulled himself up over the side of a particularly high boulder’s edge that he heard voices he thought he’d never hear again sound off.
“Iruma, my boy!”
“We finally found you!”
Iruma froze.
W h a t .
“How have you been!”
“Your mother and father have been living their best lives!”
No, no. nononononononononono-
N o !
This couldn't be happening.
Iruma was finally happy for once.
He finally had people who cared about him for once in his miserable life.
They couldn't take that away from him… Right?
…right?
As our blue haired protagonist was monologuing, his parents had finished ‘telling’ (more like speaking AT him) Iruma their new ‘get rich quick’ scheme.
Something about pyramids and selling scorpions at a food stall.
“Come Iruma, let's go home!”
W H A T .
“No!” The desperate cry tore from the blue haired boy's throat, a guttural desperate plea ripping through the darkness of the cave.
The two shitty parents were very quick to guilt trip and gaslight their own son, leaving him reeling in despair.
It was only when his ‘parents’ merged together into a giant indigo blob that he started back pedaling, forgetting that he was on a cliffside.
And down.
Down,
Down,
Down,
He fell.
Disappearing out of Naphula’s vision.
It was only then that the unknown figure from before stepped out from the shadows.
Unlike in canon, though, Orobas stayed to ensure the job was finished.
The resident hidden human of the underworld woke up at the bottom of the chasm, quickly noticing that his left leg was throbbing in pain.
Sitting up and assessing the situation, Iruma only had seconds to compartmentalize before Orobas' bloodline ability activated again.
From the darkness, appeared two familiar friendly faces- Oddly, they were uncharacteristically frowning at Iruma.
‘ Human’ had always been a word that had haunted Iruma since his arrival in the Devildom.
He had tried so hard to keep it a secret.
But it hurt nonetheless when his so-called ‘friends’ - Not that they were the real thing- were turning their backs on him because of his biology.
It also hurt when Ameri told him off for something he couldn't control being born as.
Kalego seemingly appeared next, Iruma numbly listening to his words.
Then, his beloved Grandfather and Opera.
Initially, the blue haired bowman was glad to see them, but that quickly changed when it was revealed that his Grandfather -who had begged Iruma to be his grandson- was going to give him back to his parents.
Iruma’s breaking point came when his parents showed up again.
They spouted some bullshit, infuriating Iruma to the point of losing his temper.
Let it be known that one Suzuki Iruma has the patience of a saint, HOWEVER!
This was too much.
This was the straw that broke the camel's back.
“Come back with us, Iru-”
“SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!!”
Silence fell.
“I'm not going back with you! I’d never go back with you! You both treated me like…Like I was your personal bank when I was younger, I grew up fending for myself in the woods when I was little! You used me as bait to catch giant sharks! YOU SOLD ME OFF TO A DEMON!”
That last admittance bounces up the walls of the cavern, but Iruma was too angry to care about anyone possibly hearing at that point.
“You are not my parents. You aren't even my family, I'd take living here over going back to you any day of the week. You made my life a living hell. And now I'm in hell, and it's been the best thing that ever happened to me. So fuck off and LEAVE ME ALONE!”
And with that, Iruma stormed off, deeper into the cavern, not caring that he was most likely injuring his leg injury even more than it already was.
“YOU SOLD ME OFF TO A DEMON!” the admittance echoed around the cavern, leading all creatures on the boulder above to freeze .
Orobas had heard a lot of messed up confessions when activating his bloodline.
But this?
This.
This coming from a schoolmate so young.
This coming from the so called 'spoiled grandson of the school principle'
This took the cake for being the worst thing he had overheard.
Afterall,
what demon parent would sell their precious child off to another?
