I can go wherever I want, just not home

Summary:

He promised to never break her. To make up for all the mistakes he had never committed, and most of all to repair the heart he hadn’t broke. But tonight, he broke all the promises he’s ever made.

Notes:

Hello there ! First DW fanfic, this is probably shit. Felt the urge to write it at 9pm, and here I am posting it. I still quite don't know if there will be more, I can't decide yet. And yes, that is some heartbreaking shit because this is the only thing that I can write, and the only thing that I read. We love a good heartbreak ! Anyway. Characters are well, out of character. Also please remember english is not my first language, so there might be some mistakes.
This was written listening to TV by Billie Eilish, Cardigan by Taylor Swift, and Watching Him Fade Away by Mac DeMarco :) Anyway, love y'all ! <3

Chapter Text

He promised to never break her. To make up for all the mistakes he had never committed, and most of all to repair the heart he hadn’t broke. But tonight, he broke all the promises he’s ever made. He stepped on the very last bit of hope she held, the one he gave to her when they first met. He took her heart out her chest, ripped milky skin into shreds just to tear her soul apart. He brought her home, and made a last promise. The one she feared the most. The one that shattered her entire world. To never come back to her. He looked straight into her eyes, and firmly promised he’d never come back for her. Right at this moment, she realized it wasn’t a threat. Her mouth falling open failing to say a word, her heart ceased to beat. It broke into tiny pieces, so sharp she wouldn’t dare to pick them up. Inches away from her, he looked down to her. He broke every promises he’s ever made. Because rule number one, the Doctor lies. She should’ve known by then. She shouldn’t have let him fool her. Because really, it was always bound to happen.

So he turned his back to her and without looking back, he closed the door. Right there in Amy’s childhood bedroom, her imaginary friend vanished at exactly 11.55 p.m. He closed the door of his tiny blue box, not giving her time to run and storm in. He was so sure she would, but she didn’t even try. Her heart on the floor, her soul pouring out of her glistening eyes, she didn’t make a move. She did not try to stop him. She did not scream the name she never got to know. She simply stared as the box disappeared. He left, and as a souvenir of a long lost love, he took her sanity. Because now, suddenly she was seven again, fighting and arguing with her whole being to make the world see just what she saw. Because now, there weren’t any proofs left of his existence in her tiny life, and she was left with a whole world laughing at her for the fact that she never grew up. Because now, she was left all alone after giving her whole life to a madman that fell from the sky. But as she was standing in the middle of her room plunged in the dark, she caught herself wishing for the crack in her wall to come back, just so it wouldn’t be that silent. Just so it wouldn’t only be Amelia Pond, in a house that’s always been to big for her. And maybe, just maybe, if she cried hard enough he would come back. Because he couldn’t stand hearing a child crying. He always came back, when a child was shedding tears.

But he wouldn’t. Because Amelia Pond wasn’t a child anymore. A fairy-tale name wasn’t enough to give her back her childhood. He wouldn’t even hear her sobs that night, as she’d be laying on the floor, begging for him to come back. He wouldn’t hear as she’d ramble about how sorry she was, between sobs. He wouldn’t see that she’d repeat the same words again and again, until exhaustion would take over, and she’d fall asleep right there in a pool of tears.
