Rain

Summary:

Rain helps to realize something, doesn't it?

Notes:

I don't know what is it, but I tried. English isn't my first language so I translated it from russian, hope it isn't that bad.

Work Text:

She always associated summer rain with warmth, something joyful and light. She loved going for a walk, feeling the cool drops on her skin. At such moments unnecessary thoughts immediately left her head, and tiredness and tension left her body along with the raindrops.

But now she felt better than ever, because there she was. They had met a couple of months ago, but it was enough for them to know that they were made for each other. Mary realized almost immediately that she had fallen in love with her calm blue eyes and the way she spoke. Every time she saw this woman, her heart was about to leap out of her chest.

She confessed to her completely stupidly, stammering and avoiding her gaze. And then just pressed herself against her chest, hearing her say such a warm "yes". She whispered her name, touching the soft skin of her hands, listening to the calm beat of her heart. And the other one, hugging her, stroking her back. That night they kissed for the first time in Mary's office, embarrassed. Probably the best night of both their lives. An evening that soothed their raging feelings and allowed them to enjoy each other. They stayed close to each other all night, talking about their own things in a confused way.

- Marisa, who do you love the most? - seems to be looking at her features for the hundredth time.

- I don't know, Mary, probably Lyra and, of course, you — she grinned, looking directly into her eyes.

- And I love you, very much. You know, I never thought I'd find my happiness in a relationship with a woman. Or rather, I knew I liked women, but I didn't think anyone would accept me — she shrugged, fixing a strand of red hair.

- I guess I never thought about it before either, but I'm damn glad we met - she smiles as she watches the golden monkey nestled at her feet.

- Do you think this is fate? - moves closer, snuggling against her chest.

- I don't think I believe in fate, Mary, but here, I'd probably say yes rather than no — she put her arm around her waist, nipping at her hair.

So they sat next to each other all evening, talking about their own things. And on the small table in front of them was a bottle of Marisa's favourite red wine.

It was quite dark outside, but they didn't care about the time. All that mattered was that they were together. They were driving down a deserted road in Mary's car, listening to their favourite songs. They just feel good and they're just there for each other. There doesn't seem to be anything else they need.

- You know, Marisa, I've always wanted to do that with someone — she grinned as she took her eyes off the road.

- There you have it, sweetheart — she replies with a slight smile on her face.

She examines her painfully loving features. Damn, she loves her. Loves her features, loves her 'quirks', loves her character, loves her whole, whole, without the rest.

Do you believe in love after love?

The music echoes throughout the interior of the car, and she finds the echo of that line somewhere inside her. She believes. Of course she believes, there is Mary. Another ray of sunshine in her seemingly dark world.

- Marisa, is everything all right? You've bbeen silent— she asks somehow worriedly, pulling the other woman out of her thoughts.

- Yes, yes, I'm fine, I was just thinking. Thinking about how much I love you — she grinned.

- God, Marisa, you drive me crazy! - laughs, blushing

The sun was already setting over the horizon, casting its last scarlet rays on the faces of the two women sitting at the table. They sit, thinking, it seems, about something of their own, but they both know that all is well. They are used to sitting in silence over a glass of wine. It really helped to get rid of extra thoughts.

- Mary, what do you think would have happened if we hadn't met back then? -a quiet voice breaks the silence in the air.

- I don't know, I guess I wouldn't be sitting here now, wandering through other worlds until Will closed the windows - shrugs - I can't even imagine that, though.

- Neither could I. I guess I just wouldn't be able to find a place for myself - takes a sip of wine, looking somewhere ahead.

- Why did you ask that, love?

- I don't know, just some fleeting thought — she lowered her gaze, as if ashamed of it.

- I'll always be there for you, Marisa, I promise.

- Marisa, look, it's raining! - points a finger at the window, happy as a little child.

- It must be cold - she says indifferently.

- I'm sure it's warm, let's go outside - takes her hand.

- Do you want to get wet? - there's a hint of sternness in her voice.

- Please, Marisa, you'll love it, I promise — she smiles.

- Damn, I can't say no to you, come on — she smiled.

She bounces with joy, heading quickly towards the door that leads directly to the courtyard. A few minutes later they are outside. Mary laughs, looking at her beloved with happy eyes. She smiles as she looks at how happy Mary is. Warm raindrops run pleasantly down her face and through her hair. Their clothes get wet quite quickly, but they don't care. They're happy, and that's all that matters.

It really does make them feel better, and all the extra thoughts leave their minds. And then they realise that they are made for each other.
