Chapter Text

Leo wasn't sure how long he and Mikey had been traveling through the dimension, it had begun just blurring into a pink and gray nothingness the further they went. His shoulders were a bit tired from using the worm grapple, and he had a feeling of constant, mild nausea from the fluctuating gravities of the rocks he jumped to and from now and then.

To begin with, he and Mikey had cracked stupid jokes, but as they went, they quieted; they were both feeling the slight fatigue and building anxiety at breaking in while not being at a hundred percent.

Leo was about to open his mouth to ask for a few minutes to stretch and relax his arms when he spotted a big, gray structure in the distance. His alternate brother skidded to a halt where they were currently running across a small asteroid, having spotted the space vessel too.

Leo cocked his head to the side, bringing up an arm to stretch above him. “That the post-office?” He inquired, moving his dark eyes to the other. Mikey narrowed his own eyes, taking a few moments to check the place over. “Yeah… I’ve only been here like— once, but I recognize their shitty style.” He replied in a flat tone, his right arm moving in wide circular motions to roll the ball-joint of his shoulder. The blue eyed turtle continued “we can take a break, I’m hella tired— and we need to wait for one of the smaller ships anyways.” He muttered, plopping backwards to lean up against a metal rock.
Leo openly accepted the break, sitting down across from Mikey; a quirk to his lips. “Ok Mikester… are you a time traveler too? Is it a side job to the ‘dimension hopping?’” Leo asked with humor to his tone, leaning his chin on his palm.

Mikey grimaced in confusion, stretching out his stubby legs so each foot was by Leo’s knees, said slider having decided to sit in a criss-cross. “Man, what’re you ramblin’ about now?” Mikey asked, exasperation in his voice, but a clear tone of humor too.

Leo smirked as he thought back to previous and current conversations.

“Dude, you say ‘hella’ , talk about using MP3 players and have no idea about modern music. You’re either an old man in a turtle costume, or a time traveler.” He ended his statement with a good natured chuckle, watching how Mikey’s features changed in some understanding. “You got nothing else to do than sit and judge my style?” He challenged the blue banded ninja, mirroring the friendly grin on Leo's face.

Leo expanded his arms to both sides in a ‘look around!’ manner, “hey man, if you got something more interesting for me to think about, go nuts.” Mikey shut his eyes, rolling his feet side to side on the back of his heel to make them tap against Leo’s knees, seeming to be in deep thought.

“Are we sure you’re not a time traveler, you’re the one with modern music and shizz, right?” Baby blue eyes opened to check Leo’s reaction to the response. Leo pursed his lime lips in thought, tapping a finger against his chin.
“Hmm, I guess that would make sense… if we’re from different dimensions, we could come from different years too.” It was a weird thing to think about, but the slider had come to accept the weirdness about everything in his life in recent times. Better to just roll with it all.

Mikey’s feet roll to a stop, his hand holding his worm raises before he squeezes the creature, making it spray the green liquid in his open mouth. “So, what year is it where you’re from anyways?” The freckled turtle asks, lowering the creature again.

“My year is 2020, June of 2020 if you wanna get specific.”

Mikey hums at the answer. “Back at my hunk-a-rock it’s 2013, well…maybe 2014 since I’ve been here for more than a year; don't remember the month.” Leo nods slowly. “Well that’s not super far apart.” He comments.

With a small huff Mikey begins rolling his feet again, Leo lets him stim in peace. “So… y’all got flying cars in the future?” Mikey inquires with an easy smile, which Leo mirrors again. The blue banded turtle wafts a hand at the other, “nah, all we got is more smog and bigger smartphones.” Mikey wrinkles his snout “sounds right.” He replies.

Just as Mikey is about to speak again he goes stockstill, his shoulders tense ever so slightly. Leonardo’s ‘brow’ crinkles slightly, waiting for an answer to what made the other freeze so suddenly.

Then, with a slightly more serious tone, Mikey speaks.

“There’s a baby ship on the way here, from over there.” The freckled turtle points to the right of Leo, who turns to look. He can’t hear anything, and the ship is barely a dot in the distance. “Oh, I didn’t even notice, nice job man.” Mikey stands, offering a small nod to Leo, before reaching out a broad hand to the turtle on the ground.

“My ear holes have gotten kinda sensitive to all the junk here; their spaceships have this weird buzz comin’ off ‘em.” Leo takes the hand and gets up too, “oookay. My Donnie is kinda the same, they hate being near the fridge and around fluorescent lights because they make noise too, at least according to them.”

Mikey looks from Leo and to the approaching vessel, his mouth in a flat line. “Got enough juice to get us up there?” He asks, just to be sure. Leo grabs one of the katanas, it sizzles with blue energy as he sends a jolt of mystic through it.

“Who do you think I am?”

Leo rises the weapon above him and in a fast, smooth motion; cutting a portal in the air in front of himself. Mikey wastes no time in getting his weapon out and popping the kusarigama blade, quickly jumping through the portal.

“Oh you’re sooo welcome, my good sir.” Leo huffs sarcastically, getting his second katana in his empty hand.

As Leo jumps through the portal to join his alternate brother, he feels like he heard something behind him; way in the distance… It vaguely sounded like Mikey’s name, but before he had time to process, he was through the portal and in the middle of a fight with four Kraang bots and a bloodthirsty turtle.

One of the bots had gotten an arm either ripped or cut off, another was bleeding a pink, blood like liquid from several cuts on its real body; robot body struggling to stand. The other two were about to grab their dropped guns, when Leo quickly acted, he swung his blades and cut off both arms on both robots in one fluid motion.

Beside him, Mikey had a hand belly deep in one of the robots as he ripped the alien from the metal husk, its screams sounded screechy horrid. Michelangelo got it all the way out before he threw it on the floor, knocking out the creature with a bone-splitting kick to the face. Leo cringed momentarily before he went back to his own two armless Kraang.
He turned his katanas with the handle ends forward, slamming the hard metal into each face of the aliens, the metal bodies dropped to the floor with their owners now unconscious.
He heard another hard punch of flesh-on-flesh behind him, when he looked back, Mikey had beheaded the one-armed Kraang robot and ripped the alien from it, now knocked out too.

Both the turtles took a moment to breathe and settle, before sheathing their weapons and moving wordlessly to the control panel.

It was a smooth panel of a dozen-upon-dozen little glowing buttons and a bigger rounded ball in the middle.
Leo rubbed the back of his neck, very lost at the sight.

“Well,” he began, looking at Mikey “You ready to fly this thing? O’ great Kraang expert.”

Mikey looked back at him, a wide grin on his face.

“Born ready dawg.”
