Chapter Text
Satan was alone again. He was getting better, but he was still in the hospital because of his wrist. A day had passed since the incident. He wanted to do something. No, he needed to do something. To protect his brothers from her.
He suddenly heard footsteps come closer to his room. Thinking the worst, he quickly turned over to his side, facing away from the door. He didn’t want anyone to see him this weak and fragile. Like he didn’t even deserve to be one of the brothers.
”Hey, ‘Tan, are ya alright?”
Satan froze as he recognised the voice. He didn’t turn around though. He couldn’t bring himself to face Mammon right now.
The second born realised that he would not get an answer back, so he decided to speak again.
”The others told me about what’s goin’ on. Are -“
”No! Stop!” Satan yelled suddenly.
Mammon turned to him as Satan grabbed onto his jacket.
”I’m so sorry for feeling this way while you were feeling so horrible as well and I wish I can’t! I’m sorry for even thinking that I can suffer as well! I’m sorry that even happened to you!”
”Satan-“
”I should’ve known that something happened to you. I deserve everything bad that comes my way for not being a good brother to you all. Maybe if I had died there then-“
”Satan, enough.”
Satan looked up at the second oldest. The voice didn’t have it’s usual tone of a laid-back person. Instead, it was more serious.
”Satan, repeat the first thing ya said, but slowly.” Mammon ordered.
”Um…’No, stop?’”
”…The thing after that.”
”Ah…’I’m so sorry for feeling this way while you were feeling so horrible as well and I wish I can’t?’”
“Exactly. Ya can’t help the way ya feel, so you are hopin’ that someday, you don’t have to feel that way anymore.” Mammon explained. “As for me…Well, I may look alright, but honestly? Things like that just don’t go away in a day. I don’t know if it’ll go away at all…but, I just want ya to know we’re ‘ere for ya. Even if ya feel ya don’t deserve it right now.”
Satan listened to his words. For once, he actually listened and acknowledged them. The same words his brothers told him. However, hearing them from the very person he was worried about, he realised that all this panic was pointless in the first place.
”I’m sorry for getting you caught up in this.” Satan said.
”’ey, don’t apologise. We’re brothers, we’re supposed to go through this stuff together.”
“If something is wrong, you should tell us. We are your brothers, after all.”
Satan just stared at his older brother. He looked back on what the brothers said to him:
”Satan. I understand you are concerned for Mammon, but you need to look after yourself as well.”
“It doesn’t even have to be at Lucifer’s request, just come by if you’re having a bad day and I would let you in!”
”Are you going to be okay?”
Mammon noticed the tears that started to fall from the fourth born’s eyes. He realised that what he said finally got to his younger brother.
Mammon hugged Satan, and Satan tried to keep quiet while he cried.
”It’s okay. Ya don’t have to hold back.” Was all Mammon said.
Satan desperately tried to hold back from sobbing. He really did. Something inside of him broke, though, and he finally just sobbed his heart out.
A few months later…
”Satan, come on!” Asmodeus called out.
”I’m coming, I’m coming.”
Satan followed his younger brother out of the house, but he suddenly stopped.
”Asmo? What’s wrong?” Satan asked.
Asmodeus suddenly went behind him, and covered his eyes.
”Hey!”
”Don’t worry! It’s just a surprise, okay?” Asmodeus replied.
Satan suddenly felt uneasy as he walked forward. Just what were his brothers planning for him?
Asmodeus lifted his hands from Satan’s eyes, before walking to the rest.
”What’s going on?” Satan questioned.
“It’s nothin’ to worry about, ‘Tan. We’re here because…”
”We wanted to celebrate your recovery.” Lucifer finished Mammon’s sentence.
“Oi! I was supposed to say that!”
”You were taking too long, Mammon.”
“Surely I don’t need that?” Satan asked.
”Oh come on! You’ve been stuck in your room for ages now!” Asmodeus whined.
”Asmo’s right, we don’t need another shut-in.” Levi added.
”You can say that again.” Mammon mumbled.
He then turned to the fourth oldest brother and smiled.
”Satan, it’s okay to accept nice things, ya know?”
“For once, I actually agree with Mammon. I believe that you should accept help from time to time.” Belphie added.
”Not really what I was goin’ for, but it still works.”
Satan looked at his brothers, before smiling.
”I guess you’re right.”
The brothers celebrated while Lucifer tried to keep them in some sort of order.
Satan suddenly turned, feeling someone was watching him.
”Satan, are you okay?” Leviathan asked.
“…Yeah, I’m fine. It’s probably nothing.” Satan answered.
Looking back on the situation before, he realised that he had every right to be worried about his brothers. That does not mean he has to sacrifice his own feelings and health in order to do so.
Though, he can’t really shake the feeling that someone might be watching him.
That was okay, because he realised that his brothers are going to be with him, no matter what.
