Work Text:
Wednesday sleeps like the dead. Hands crossed over her chest and face at rest. At least, that’s how she sleeps in her bed.
When Wednesday sleeps in Enid’s bed, she sleeps like she’s still with the living.
Enid watches Wednesday, melting into the covers as she watches Wednesday’s face fill with expression.
She seemed alive , as if with every breath she took made her frozen core melt. Ice thawing to reveal a living, beating heart. Thumping away behind her rib cage that leaves her relaxed.
Wednesday’s lips are parted, her eyes moving behind her eyelids before settling as a gentle smile graces the corners of her mouth.
Enid reaches a hand out, fingers moving gently to move the hair out of her face and gasping when Wednesday stills. Her eyes flutter open, relaxed expression changing as she regards Enid. “You have hair in your face.” Enid says quietly and Wednesday processes the words for a moment, brain slowed by sleep before she gently closes her eyes and leans her head forward.
Enid moves her hand to brush the hair out of her face, and smiles when Wednesday hums, both moving closer to each other.
“Closer,” Wednesday mumbles, slumber taking over as Enid gathers her in her arms and tucks her head under her chin. The two sleep in the warmth of each other, pleased to thaw together.
