Denji still hasn’t quite processed the horror that is an amusement park.
¨Denji.¨ Nayuta’s eyes shine golden under the afternoon sun. ¨I am hungry.¨
Between the bustling noise and the masses that stare at a blonde highschooler and his ragtag group composed of seven dogs and a little girl, Denji prefers being bloody and filthy fighting a devil to death than to ride one of the coasters ever again.
He doesn’t quite understand how he managed to sneak the dogs in. It’s efforts should be mostly contribuited to Nayuta, who stared murderously at the guards before smiling sweetly once she was allowed entry with her canine army of big, fluffy boys who were more than excited about this laberyhth of smells, people, and death machines.
¨Denji.¨ Nayuta repeats herself, voice thinly veiling in contempt. ¨I am hungry.¨
Denji looks at her, eyes squinted under the blazing sun that made his shirt stick to him, sweaty and disgrunted. ¨I’ll get you cotton candy.¨
¨It’s not bread.¨
¨There’s no bakeries in amusement parks.¨ Or that’s what he thinks, at least. ¨You’ll have to make do with that. Or do you want sausage?¨
¨Denji,¨ she begins, eyes open and unflinching under the sunlight, the golden taking a dangerous hue. ¨if there’s no bread, I think this place should just explode.¨
Denji makes a face. ¨But there’s people here. If it exploded, they would all die.¨
¨And you’ll be sad?¨
¨Not really, but it’d be a bummer, you know?¨
¨I don’t know.¨
¨Well,¨ he ruffled her hair. ¨-even if we don’t know them, they are still people. I wouldn’t cry or anythin if they died, but it’d be a shame. It’s like when unimportant people get killed in movies, you feel slightly bad for them, because they aint doing nothing wrong, yeah?¨
¨But,¨ she begins, tilting her head to the side like a cat, ¨movies aren’t real. They don’t die for real, don’t they?¨
¨That’s another whole can of worms.¨
¨Worms? Where?¨ Nayuta redirects her eyes to the ground expectantly, small eerie smile on her face - more the overjoyed over the prospect of crushing non existant worms to a pulp.
Denji huffs out a laugh. ¨It’s a saying.¨
¨Oh. That’s stupid.¨
¨Yeah. You could say that.¨
