Chapter Text
Mira was walking around the grounds of the castle. Two days ago she was asked to join forces with Yuki, per the King’s request, to help stop any more attacks from happening. Of course she agreed, soon they’ll be having a meeting with just the three of them, to discuss their plan.
Within 15 minutes her, Yuki, and King Raven were in the office again. The room was quiet for almost 10 minutes before the king spoke up. “Mira, Yuki, what do you plan on doing?” he asked, grabbing a pen and paper. “Me and Mira plan on going just the two of us at first. Just to scope out a travel route, then we plan on having the troops meet us in three days time to make our attack.” Yuki stated as the king wrote down the plan.
“Well, at least make sure you two have plenty of food, water, and weapons on you just in case. I know this isn’t the first time you went on something like this, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t worry about my mens safety.” the king spoke as he looked up from the paper. His face looked serious as he looked at them. “Yes, sir,” the two of them said at the same time.
Soon after the meeting was over. The two made their way to the stables to get their horses ready for their journey. Mira made her way to a beautiful pitch black Destrier. Its coat was shining under the midday sun, the mane moving ever so slightly in the breeze. Yuki made his way to a similar brown Destrier, the two horses were similar in build. Mira was stunned by the beauty of the two mares, she was busy petting hers so that the midnight beast wouldn’t be spooked once she was to properly mount it.
“Mira, we should get going before it gets too dark, we wanna get there in one piece after all.” he suggested as he got on his steed. Mira nods and gets on top of her horse as well. “Yuki, are you sure we should be going without the troops? I kind of think that all of this is an inside job.” she assumed, looking at him as they trotted along. “You may be right about it being an inside job, which is why we need to go alone. I don’t like it anymore than you do, but if there’s a rat in the castle I’d rather take our chances.” he stated, looking back at her. With a sigh she nodded her head as she sped up a bit, pretty much leaving him behind.
After what seemed to be hours of riding horseback, they decided to stop. From the way that the sun was positioned it seemed to be about 5pm. Tying their horses to a sturdy, low hanging branch they started to set up their campsite for the night. Mira dropped her bag on the ground by a fallen log, knowing that she would be the one to start a fire she started picking up some small twigs and leaves, as well as two decent sized rocks. She kneeled on the ground and started to build the fire. “Yuki, you wanna get food ready for tonight so we don’t have to do so much in the dark before the sunsets?” Mira asked, as the spark from the rocks that she hit together flew into the dried leaves. Humming Yuki dug in one of the bags and grabbed a small sack of bread, meat and cheese. It wasn’t ideal to have it later down the road, so why not eat it tonight so it wouldn’t get too bad the longer they were out.
The sun soon set, the sounds of wind rustling the trees, the crickets and owls in the distance were soothing after a long day riding. Maybe tonight will be a relaxing night before another long long trip tomorrow. Mira knew that one day that her secret would be out to her friend, but she sure hoped that it wouldn’t be tonight. Tomorrow’s stop would be a nice small village with a decent tavern. It would be nice to get a nice warm meal and stay in a bed if possible for at least a night or two. She didn’t know where exactly was planning to bring them, but she knew it would be a long journey ahead of them.
